All you need is an o-ring kit and a bicycle inner tube repair kit. The little patches are the correct size and material to mimic the diaphragm. If you need bigger, use a bigger patch and cut it to size. I've fixed all my valves this way. Saved me thousands
Thank you! My brother ended up spending about $1k to fixed his problem and I didn’t know until he asked me about it and I went on YT to search for the caused and here I found your vid and It did the fixed and many thanks! Sadly, he can’t returned the stuff he bought or he could’ve saved $925 lol but again thank you. God bless you!
Thank you so much for this video, I had the exact same problem. I bought the valve for only $25 and only used the seals!! Its amazing how much money you saved me.
Good stuff. My trucks doing the same thing as your did. I bought the valve for $30 at the Freightliner dealership yesterday. Looked for some videos on replacement to get some pointers and ran across your video thankfully. The one i got from freightliner is a automann , and has Phillips head screws were the diaphram is and there being a pain. Probably going to have to get out the vice grips to get them off. Thanks again. Update: turns out there are 2 rubber "valves" on these one on the bottom which this guy replaced on his and a smaller one on the top which long story short turned out to be the problem on mine.
well put together. very clear and down to earth in a manner clearly understood. thanks a bunch for the video. helps a lot for someone as mechanically impaired as myself. recently purchased.first truck used, And i think my problem May be with the brake chamber, so I'll keep searching for my answer. i just learned a lot from u though. thanks again for the vid :)
I sure hope you make more videos just like this! I've recently started working on my own equipment because my shop bills were getting insane! While this is not the issue I'm having the instruction was clear enough and up to date to retain forever vs a monotone video made in the 80's. Great video, great idea, and great instruction thank you! I've subscribed in hopes to follow you on any other repairs on your rig.
That valve is a Bendix QR1C anti compound quick release valve . You only replaced one of the rubber seals . The other rubber seal is located under that large nut in the front of the valve .
Thanks, I didn’t know that. All these years later and it’s still good but it’s also been parked for 4 years, just pulled it out last month and getting ready to sell her.
Great work and video. I'm having the exact same problem on my t680 2016. I will try this since I have not one penny on me. Just need to find the right valve.
Show me how you got your fifth wheel all the way back to have that much clearance to work on that relay valve. I've got mine back and it's still in my way.
I know this is way too late but I haven’t used this account in a long time and just saw this. Anyways, my truck is set up for car hauling and so the fifth wheel is already mounted further back than a normal truck. That combined with sliding it all the way to the rear puts the fifth wheel just behind my rear drive axle.
I have an International Work Star 7400. When I depress the pedal, I get a massive air dump from a valve right now to the front wheel. I have replaced that valve and it still does the same thing. International has that valve listed as a "valve quick release" PN: 3548736C1. Any ideas what might be causing the air dump?
Hmm, thanks for the ideas. I will definitely try this as I was about to replace mine. By the don't go the stealerships for this part as KW wants 144.00 bucks for it while same bendix QR1C valve is 20 bucks
Hey there Mr. new subscriber, 👋, Nice little ratchet and 👍 for the pulling of the fifth wheel hell I guess you got a little Superman in you, also if I will leave the trailer at The yard I would try to move the fifth wheel back with the trailer just a heads up anyways, appreciate the video and thank you👌👍✌️
I have a 98 freightliner dump truck It's doing the same thing as your truck did but I cant find a part number for a rebuild kit were u able to find it??
Because you have to take off multiple lines making the job take longer and also creating potential air leaks on each line. The only other piece to the valve is the body itself which is made from aluminum. Only way for that to fail is physical damage like cracking. I fixed what is wrong, I don’t just throw parts at it.
So I havent replaced the valve yet and the leak comes and goes it hasnt leaked for a few days, I didn't run it over the weekend but come Monday it started to leak again, what do u recommend I do bro should i I just replace it since i already have it? Thanks Leo
If that’s what’s with the truck then yes, replace it. But if it is a sporadic it may be a different issue. Maybe a bad brake chamber diaphragm or garbage in the system.
@@HondaCummins Alright thanks boss I hope it's not the brake chambers that are linked up to the system but I will do some troubleshooting How would I be able to flush out the system to clean all tha crud that might be in there?
Le0 Corleone replacing a brake chamber is fairly cheap and easy. There’s plenty of videos on how to do it. If it is just a brake chamber diaphragm then that is even easier and cheaper. As for cleaning out the system, the only way I know of how to do it is the hard/time consuming way. Disconnect both ends and or disassemble everything and blow it out.
Pete k True, but sourcing the rubber and o-ring would be more of a headache than it’s worth for me. $30 is worth it to me for oem part and same day pick up/install.
Did the rubber diaphragm inside the valve have holes or cracks in it? If so then it was bad anyways. Regardless, sounds like your problem is further up the line. Try pinching off (like a garden hose) each line to the brake chambers one at a time while the air is leaking. If that slows or stops the air leaks you found the chamber(s) causing the leak.
HondaCummins I replaced the diaphragm, the whole part actually, still dumping air when I release the brake. But thanks for the reply and idea. I'll do that and see what happens. Man thank you so much. If that does or doesn't work I'll let you know
HondaCummins It's the ABS Relay that's dumping air when I release the brake. I've replaced it and it's still doing it. Any thoughts on why it's doing that?
HondaCummins yes, could it possibly be more than one? It's dumping air like opening a valve on an air tank. Tried pinching each line. Going to do it again, maybe I didn't get them closed off completely
Same here. I go to buy a premium motorcraft oil filter at Wal-Mart. And get home and end up with the cheapest Super tec or whatever generic shit Wal-Mart has. At least the con had enough decency to put the right size filter in it.
@@Andrew-zu6wuI’ve bought oil and antifreeze from Walmart and on separate occasions come home only to find out that someone returned them either with used oil or antifreeze in them. Now I unscrew every bottle and check before they go into the cart.

Fantastic detailed explanation of that Bendix valve body. Why was a new valve re-manualfactored and not new ?

Great video, very helpful and gets right to the point
Got me out of a jam, great video!
I got the same problem except it’s on my trailer. Will the repair be exactly the same set up?
FleetPride in Perris, California sells those seals for a dollar.

Thank you for sharing this video.👍👍
Was it leaking from the exhaust port or the abs exhaust port
Did this issue cause the abs light to come on on the dash?
What bout sino truck air linking from the brake valve relay we're to get
Mine vents every time the compressor purges. I tried a new quick release valve and it still did it

Must be a older model mine looks the same thing until you open it up. But it has a spring and an aliment washer under the diafram.
Why do you show it without the fifth wheel
Will this work for Freightliner Century
I had the same problem on my Volvo Semi truck... I'm wondering now if they replaced the whole part 🤔
juice74gangsta it would easy to tell by just looking to see if the valve is nice and shiny or not.
Most shops will replace the old ,for a new one.easier and safer.
Thanks bro.
I think it happened to a lot of us
Is always good to know.
As we never know when or where is going to happen again 😊
So was it leaking from the brake pedal valve?
Was it?
How much for the new valve?
what truck is this?
Love your vids man very informative

How much for part
Hi brother how sounds your air brakes Wen you press the pedal
Estuardo Miranda you can hear the air going through the system but no leaks.
What about the seals in the push release elbow connectors
They weren’t the issue.

QR1C anti compound quick release valve
So you had to remove the 5th wheel to get this done?
No, just slid it out of the way. If yours does not slide you might have to remove it.
Does Anyone know a way to bypass this valve to get off the side of the road.
What do you use to pinch the air lines from the chambers ?
Carlos Carlos pinch them by hand like a garden hose. It doesn't hurt them.
You can use vies grip just put a rag so you can't damage the line.
Sir what kind of truck its a Volvo?

You could have just cut a piece of rubber for that fix.Be nice to have a hole punch that size. But you could cut it out. And the O-Ring is easy.
