I've shifted from Optimum to Cryo for more than half a year and find it more easy to get the sound you want. Enjoy it.

I really liked your presentation- logical, reasonable. I have used the Bonade (2 screws), Rovner(leather-1 screw) and the un-named one that came with my sax. From your video, I'm tempted to try the Vandoren Optimum that you described. Thank you very much for this.

You should also review the new Dickerson Resonator Ligature - its a ligature and resonator - it's hot

Very good video I was always under the impression that ligatures don’t matter apart from holding the reed. However I’m interested in changing the 2 screw ligature I have for the Jody jazz power ring or a silver stein. I currently have a Jody jazz super jet. So now that it’s been 4 months what’s your update on the silver stein ligature? Have you gotten used to putting reeds on/off? Do you feel like placing the metal bars on the side of the mouthpiece higher or lower makes a difference?

Hi. Some musicians say that the ligature has an effect on tone whereas others do not. Some manufacturers hype up their products for sales making claims. Have you seen the BetterSax video on ligatures? He tests around 20 ligatures and says he notices a difference with the power ring. He says because of its weight it gives more resonance which he can hear. But then he does mention that it is difficult to explain and that maybe it is in his head. If you are a beginner, then buy a ligature for ease of use since you wont hear any subtle changes in tone. The power ring comes in different sizes so make sure you get the one to fit your mouthpiece. I believe there is a chart on the Jody website. Personally, I have not use the silverstein in a while since I'm playing on a different mouthpiece and don't want to change the shape of the chords. Thanks for the comment.

@@Saxcomprehensive I ended up buying the power ring for my super jet. I’ve had it for almost 2 months and I can definitely say it made a very noticeable difference in feel and tone which was a surprise. Feels more resonant/open and plays more freely. I didn’t expect a difference at all but I stand corrected!

@@chrizze5062 nice. I might get myself one later. I have always wanted to try it and a Rovner which a lot of people talk about. Good to know that you still feel the same after 2 months since some say it is the fact that a person has new gear which makes them feel differently. They say its psychological. Thanks for the update.
