Right, I've private tuition with great teacher, I ve been watching a lot RUclips tutorials how to play altissimo. I had no probs to play Ab but no way to go higher, only because I was missiconcept voice movement and I was pushing downward. All this for entire year (just to learn alts)!!! Until last night when by accident I found this video. Although all others say similar principles but you made it for me. Next morning (today) play (unstable but play) altissimo D with no problem! Never thought I'll be able to do. Many, many thanks
Dropping jaw not moving it forward and tongue placement, wider mouthpiece helped me and finding a good reed mouthpiece combo. Each mouthpiece works good with a different reed
Singing (even if done badly) helps a TON. It teaches you to not "pull" the chest voice and instead have the head and chest mix so you go up with no strain, your larinx does change and if you take that same concept to the sax you are more than half way there already
It's funny but although I've never felt the urge to try altissimo for musical reasons, the notion of improving my voicing and control of the instrument is appealing. You have piqued my curiosity to give this a try! 👍
