The Kills are one of those rare, incredible bands that end up defining a generation of music that would come later. I'm so appreciative to have been alive and able to enjoy them over the last 15+ years.

I'm fifty something too. I'm so happy that I discovered them last night. Absolutely mesmerising.
Ditto. Almost 50 here and when I'm glad I discovered them via Anthony Bourdain. He was raving about them in a podcast and I do admire his taste in music. So I checked them out on youtube and after a few seconds of listening, bought Ash and Fire on iTunes. Since then I've been 'evangelizing' the group amongst all my friends.
Im not 50 something, but i can totally relate to this. Before i first heard these guys 8 or so years ago (midnight boom), i was not really interested in any modern music. These two completely restored my faith, that plenty of great songs, had yet to be created.
Jamie's tone is unbelievable, and Alison... well she's a force of nature. Thanks for sharing!
the kills are my "soul band" - they always make me feel like myself, ya feel? like a soulmate, but a band. feeling honored to be alive the same era as them tbqh. i have grown with them since Midnight Boom, and here we are now. it makes me emotional how i've seen them evolve as a band, and as people as well. i love them so much, thank you Red Meat Heart for brining us this beauty. xxxx

Hotel`s guitars sounds gorgeous, he did a great job on elaborating his own sound !!
And he can only play with 3 fingers most of the times.
Heard an interview where he said he had to teach himself to play differently due to hand surgery.
@@danielgazda he also uses his thumb when he plays baby says. Watch one of their acoustic sessions and you can see and hear it better

As a fifties something musician (guitar and vox) I always worry about being stuck in a time warp when it comes to my repertoire. I see what The Kills are doing with their music and I think the future of music is in good hands. Their sound and vibe is different .... and that's the point. I don't mind the drum machine, the electronica and the fuzzy guitars because it all seems to come out great in the end. They must be terrific live .... the rhythm section is tight, the guitars are eclectic and I could watch her energy, talent and beauty forever.
Have seen them a few times now and they are awesome. Am also a musician approaching 50 (and Jaime of course is now in his 50s) and adore their fuzzy sound too. It's raw and edgy and sexy and brings together my love of alternative and blues. Love it.
This is my first date with this band and already I went to sleep with them.

This is fantastic Rock. What a Rock N Roll Blessing. This is who the White Stripes wanted to be.
Reminds me of a modern day Debbie Harry. Lots of passion and energy on stage, no autotune, and no need for people in the background to cover up guitar mistakes (example: Courtney Love). It's rare for a group to sound better live than in the studio.
Hopelessly addicted to this band's sound. This live performance is stunningly crazy amazing hauntingly beautiful wild fresh out of this friggin' world head shakin' good medicine for my soul.
Kudos to Jamie, adapting so well with that gammy finger. A real talent and amazing guitar player..

I know you all talk about Jamie and how his guitar is "simple". Have you ever tried recreating it? Original Killd were VV, Hotel and and a drum machine. If you have multiple delay pedals running against each other and authentic tremolo effect, and a guitar with endless knobs and onstage chemistry with a girl... by all means
Attitude matters way more than elaboration or technical wizardry. I mean, no one listens to AC/DC and wishes they'd played in 5/8 or used Locrian scales
jamie hince is a guitar god and its like a hurricane when you hear him live, especially this part: 1:01:29
I’m not really a huge fan of their 2016 album “Ash & Ice” but damn the songs off it really kick ass live. Mosshart always has such a great energy

Saw them at last year's Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, and they blew me away! Hot, sexy, tremendous groove!
Saw these guys open for Qotsa and came three times during the set.
Here is a band that have resisted the placement of Fender guitars in favour of the superior Hofner Galaxy 176 's ftted with Hofner's sharkfin pickups dating back to 1962 and always a better guitar than the inferior Stratocaster . This band is quite literaly music to my ears .

just discovered the Kills, and now i cannot become satiated i need more more more, this sound brings life to the kill er tones they make LOVE !
I've been to hundreds of concerts, and I can honestly say that The Kills made top 5, right alongside Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, Anthrax reunion tour in early '00s and Pantera's support for Judas Priest with Cowboys From Hell album (yeah I'm that old).

@@Irae00 3 years late, I know the Kills sample a lot of music, I believe the drum sample from DoWaH is taken from another song so could be that the other band had a problem with it being broadcasted/uploaded.

How Jamie manages to play such complex guitar/bass lines on the same instrument (without his left middle finger) while singing is beyond my comprehension, he probably splits his brain in 3...
I know he does not do it much here but when they perform just the 2 of them and their drum machine he really gets so much sound out of that thing

Despite their seemingly rehearsed, onstage swagger, intended to affect a neo-hipster, cool rocker aura-vibe, like, say, the bouts with her long hair the lead singer would embroil herself in, when, all of a sudden, "Oops?! - my hairs all over my face! But whatever. So-F-ing what? I still keep rockin', see?"; and yet the band's true, diehard nerd-some core nature, notwithstanding's just too high of a density, it gushes forth in perpetuity from the depths of their being, fast past that protective facade, w/ utter facility, and onto drenching the audience members; overflows of oily, homely, home-made, funky geek-juice & flotsam to boot ... 'cuz they're just so god-damn cool, y'know what I mean?
I really can't help myself from noticing, because I'm not only The Dork Clubhouse president; I'm also a client."
But, hey,. At least the mediocre quality of the music's appropriate to the incessant, cheese-laden poses.

I do regret Canal PLUS old style,the only french channel to broadcast such shows... the kills were awesome ,they put down every two members bands in the same style, white stripes, black keys, royal blood... cause they were way innovative and not rehashing the same chords again and again.. Jamie is stylish and Alison has a so sexy voice...
