Yeah, early game feels like my guys are made of wet sand. Stronger leaderhip/binding later in game feels so good though, feels like an actual enthralled army of undead.
Technically undead are immune to fear and terror. It´s just that they basic undead units have no cohesion or leadership, and will crumble as soon as their leader takes their eyes off them and they start getting cut down.
@@the_tactician9858 if anything they buffed the undead too much. Used to be that as the vamps you actually need to take care of your lords, least they get sniped. But now most undead armies can keep cohesion even even their lords die.
It has changed the way that vamps are played, and I'm not a fan of it tbh,
In all my years of gaming, I've still yet to see a dwarf skeleton or a dwarf zombie...

+Krystian Blaszkowicz RPG Yeah usually in fantasy realms dwarfs are immune to magic therefore it applies also to necromancy i suppose. That's the reason why most of them are using runes to have "somewhat magic influence".

Imagine being a fly on the wall when this Witch Hunter said to his superiors that he was going on an expedition after THE Mannfred von Carstein with just a single battalion of halberdiers.
If this was based on a certain event in the lore, the Witch Hunters weren't certain it was Manny at this point, only that the Von Carsteins (who encompass most of the nobility in Sylvania,) were up to something; Volkmar sent a Witch Hunter to find the truth. Manny was not impressed, and declared war on Franz by dropping said Witch Hunter's body on the Imperial Palace.

It's even worse than that. Those are spearmen, the type with no shields. The kind you start with, and get rid of as fast as possible.

+warbossgrotsmasha23 you forget that standard undead are shit fighters. A vampire that uses his undead against a numerically superior force is gonna get his shit kicked in. If each man you have can kill 2-3 skeletons, then depending on how outnumbered you are you're looking good. Now, those later skeletons in plate, I think that would be difficult. Those random skeletons with rusted armor and weapons? You could manage.
Not exactly. Yes, the more of yours that die, the more the enemies army is bolstered, assuming a necromancer is about, but the undead are far weaker in general infantry, so say a shield wall would crush them without support.
Seth Mcclain what undead army marches out without necromancers? that's like having a living army going out to fight without field medics, I don't know much about vampire counts armies but don't they have necromancers they can field? or the hero unit itself using his\her necromantic powers to raise the dead? just like Manfred did in this video

Prior to world war one, most armies simply left their wounded on the field and kept fighting, picking up the survivors and attempting to save them after the battle. An undead army physically cannot continue to exist without a necromancer. When the necromancer dies, the army begins to literally crumble to dust.
I can honestly say that I always go Mannfred von Carstein whenever I play the VC faction. Vlad may have been the first and all that, but Mannfred truely embodies what it really means to be a vampire lord, who are basically medieval versions of Star wars' sith lord: cunning, self-serving and relying, and the eternal pursuit of ultimate personal power
I always go for Evil Gandalf because I think it's funny when he triumphs and overcomes despite being a bit of a joke in universe.
Vampire Counts are more personified by being able to actively deceive humans and work within their politics to secure power. It's only in the End Times this breaks down. Mannfred screws-up everything for the Vampire Counts, Vampire Coast and Arkan trying to resurrect Nagash. Causing Chaos to win and destroy the world.

I wonder if the Vampire Counts would be able to convert enemy non-legendary characters. It would be really interesting mechanic and would have players keep a close eye on their agents and make sure that they don't get turned
Theres a Necromancer Legendary Character that can do just that
Vampires don't become under the thrall of the vampire who made them. This is why Warhammer vampires are relatively rare and fairly picky about who they turn. Turning their enemies into vampires would only make their enemies stronger.
One of the WoC characters can do exactly that now, turning generals and heroes into daemon princes.
What I really love about these games is the fact that this stuff actually happens in the games. None of this is over-dramatized, this is just how the game is.
Imagine sending a army consisting of just a witch hunter and 1 unit of spear men and 1 unit of swords men in the campaign to fight Mannfred on his home turf lol.

I think he's based on Gunther Stahlberg. Gunther Stahlberg was sent by Volkmar to investigate the restless dead in Slyvania. He entered the Drakenhof Castle with his retinue to find Manny at the head of a dining table who goes "come at me bro". You can guess what happened next.

@@evanhaskel206 His henchmen surged forward tried to kill Mannfred but Mannfred easily jobs them. With over half of his retinue dead, Gunther and his remaining men fled only to be overtaken by Mannfred's minions before they can reach the borders of Stirland.

Mannfred has zero chill in this trailer. He just reeks of presences. Honestly aside from his vampiric corruption he'd probably be a beast ruler of the empire. He's not afraid to fight wen necessary, He knows how to play the game of courts And he's a very good strategist to boot Combined this with him being one hell of a fighter then you've got a very good leader.

It’s been 2 months and still play with vampire counts, i love the grim dark gothic horror, I will also try other undead factions but vampire counts might still be my favorite cuz it’s classic undead dark fantasy vampires

Six Years ago the Von Carsteins began stalking the Warhammer world. Now they are part of Immortal Empires, the most ambitious world map I have ever seen.

+Ivan Hinojosa "what a twist?" Anybody who follows anything about warhammer could tell you the undead would be in. Lore-wise they are one of the oldest and most influential factions next to chaos. Read a little about Nefereeta, the Von Carsteins, Settra(tomb king fellow), and Nagash and you'll see what i mean.

Watching this again I can appreciate the attention to detail the animation team has with the uniform colour for the Averland soldiers escorting the witch hunter and defending the city.
Everytime I watch a Total War Trailer I think: "That looks cool." But in the last 10sec of the trailelr there's always this "pre-order to play as X". and then I'm more like "Fuck that!"

@@ragnarokivae6136 dont know what gamesworkshop has implemented in the roster of them apart from them which in the total war game. But it would nice to see some bloodknights with spears and a zombidragon which can rise in battles if dies in battle. Like the Phoenix of the high elves. For example.

That's why I never bought any TW after rome 2. I was convinced to buy a "complete edition" involving the whole series, steam promotion back when Attila was brand new, and it was indeed "complete"... Saved only by Rome 2, who only got the "emperor edition". On that moment, I understood why people were so mad with CA. Blood DLC is something unnaceptable, "race packs" smh Just to complete the goddamn game, I waited years to buy the remaining DLC for a pitiful price, but I swear, I will never buy a TW ever again. I playing pirated Warhammer non stop for almost a weak, the wait was more than worthy. I love this series, but Sega rotted their business.

The fucking day 1 DLC is just twisting the blade at this point.
I'll probably buy this but not until all DLC is out and its on sale for at least 75% off if not more so I can get everything for $20. Its just not going to be worth it upon launch.
Absolutely agree. Personally, I think Attila was a waste of time and resources. They should have went back to the Gunpowder age in my opinion. This fantasy crap doesn't for Total War honestly

I'm wondering where the hell my WWI and WWII total war is? I mean seriously, if they did it right it would be so damn perfect. Imagine landing your troops on the beaches of Normandy, or Okinawa. Or imagine landing your troops on the beaches of London, and Los Angeles if you want to change up history. It would give Creative Assembly room for lots of innovation, and hopefully larger and more dynamic maps to play with.
+PaladinWiggles Yeah Rome 2 was awful but how many Total War games has there been about 10 ? One is bound to end up being bad. Even most of the best game series ever (Mass Effect ,Halo , Civilisation ect) Can't release half as many as that without at least one being bad. Attilla was a far better game and is a solid game in one of the greatest game series ever.
The day 1 DLC though is a solid complaint though personally isnt enough to turn me from the series as a whole.

Mistake #1: Thinking that only one single Company strength force would be enough to kill a Vampire lord in its own home territory.
Mistake #2: Bringing only melee infantry into a fight against the Undead....always, always use artillery, heavy pikes, halb-bruders, and arbalests.
Mistake #3: Not saving an immolation round for yourself so that you can't be reanimated as your entire body is consumed by the flames of sorcery, heck you might even actually damage the Lord with it.
Mistake #4: Being in a trailer, you're gonna die bro!

Especially since that would of been a massive oversight of negligence and commander incompetence which back in the lore would of been punishable by death even if it was a Witch Hunter which is the fantasy version of an Inquisitor.
Commissar Gaunt What i mean is say a large army went into Vampire territory ,it's gets defeated and the humans we see in the video are just a few of the survivors who managed to find each other. As they are trying to escape Vampire territory they get surrounded and well you know the rest.
+banethesithari Unlikely since the Witch Hunter specifically mentions the Counts name and was searching for him. Another reason why that is very unlikely is that the infantry themselves are in a marching column, one of the worst stances to take when in hostile territory that you KNOW the enemy is in.
If they were the remnants, and the Empire has decently trained auxiliary and regular soldiers, they would of assumed a shield wall or spear wall formation entering the area where they are roughly even in width by length infantry so as to offer as much protection and reveal as little of their flanks as possible. Instead? they march in a 3 man width formation where the greatest length of their flank is available and easily smashed from either side.
To conclude, either the developers have zero experience in medieval military tactics or even Greco-Roman military formations which is highly possible, or that the formation was marching to a target location in the hopes of preventing a ritual or resurrection and was not expecting to be ambushed, which as stated priory is a gross oversight of command.

I think he means generic undead. Like Zombies and Skeletons, they technically don't fear anything (mostly because they're too far gone to even comprehend any kind of emotion, much less feel fear).

Anyone else really sad about the death of the Fantasy universe on the table game? I want to cry so badly, guys. They deleted almost 70% of the miniatures I planned to buy when I won the lottery or when I were millionaire. My lizzardmen, guys, the vampire army, the khemri legions...

This has always been my favorite faction, playing as the bad guys is always fun forget Chaos, the undead Vampire counts are the best.

I am really looking forward to this! It probably won't happen, but I would love it if when you send a vampire lord hero to battle, he just fucking wrecks low-tier infantry battalions.
+Hellkite he's a hero, all the heros will do that. The heros aren't like generals in regular total war, they're unstoppable gods that can slaughter mass numbers of enemy units, and SHOULD be used in combat regularly. That being said, if your hero goes down, your army suffers a MASSIVE morale boost. In the case of undead armies, if they follow the precedent set by table tops, I think if you lose your head guy the army actually crumbles into dust.

I mean it did get him victory. Mannfred literally ended the world. Vlad was always the greatest giga chad in the warhammer fantasy. And the empire has always been scared of the vampire counts.

im loving the vampire counts surprisingly, when i first saw them i thought it was stupid, and i started as the empire on tuesday but this morning i was like "actually i wanna give the vampires a go" and i swear! leading the armies of the undead is fcking EPIC!!!!!!

+Nethersoldier Well, the fighting animations have been optimized, which should improve FPS. Total War: Warhammer will also feature Dx12, which should give you at least a 10 fps boost.
