It's been a little while! I thought about making this since they announced rollback netcode for GGXrd. I have a lot of commitment in daily life, so things will be rather slow here from now on.
holy sh*t I didn’t know realize that the silhouette at the end of your video was Johnny until just now because you basically showed they were the same by how you ended the video 4:12. great video as always Xiao!
I was inspired to became a Johnny main since I watched your Johnny combo vids. It's a bit rough doing the technical stuff but Johnny is so cool!! And Xiao the GOAT is back at it again!!
Yea, unfortunately video content for GGXrd isn't very well organized or easy to find on RUclips. But 2- or 3-year-old Xrd videos will still be very good references. This one isn't really phrased as a guide but should serve as a good entry point: ruclips.net/video/hHxBv3AOTi8/видео.html This one offers some good things to practice for, if you have time to chill through like 2 hrs: ruclips.net/video/uEctrOd0jTA/видео.html Otherwise you can always watch Mikado match footages. I guess everyone knows Omito is the best out there, but personally I find his footage more suited for spectating than to be studied, because he as a player is in a league by himself. It's extremely difficult to learn his style of play.
Are all of these character-specific or were the different characters just for demonstration? If not, can you point out which ones are universal (or almost universal)? Been learning GGXrd and Johnny is fun af
I enjoy exploration so I look for different possibility against different characters, and I'm not concerned about how universal routes are, since in this game you can have the same sequence of moves used but very different timing due to differences in weight, size, and hurtbox behavior. You can keep it simpler if uncertain, but knowing character specific routes can help especially in long sets.
Tried it and didn't like it. Still don't find it attractive today. Only thing I like as a fan is that Sol finally can retire and live happily in peace.
I am quite the reserved type, and honestly I don't think Johnny can be used well by me for that reason. I think Sol fits me better but back when I was playing matches I used Johnny the most, followed by Ram.

Awesome, was this done on pad or stick? Can many of Johnny's routes be done on pad easily?
I don't have experience with playing fighting games on pad so I can't say. I use a stick normally.
I dont think ive ever seen someone use it to start a combo like that
It's a ridiculously fast overhead.
Off topic,, did you try strive? Or didnt liked it?
Tried it and didn't like it. Still don't find it attractive today. Only thing I like as a fan is that Sol finally can retire and live happily in peace.
Is only pc getting rollback?
The public test is on Steam.
do you play xrd online?
Not nowadays
@@YXiao I'd honestly love to see one match you play - not that I'd expect anything amazing but I'd love to see your playstyle
