I was so impressed with this flashlight, I bought 4 of them - 1 for me, and 3 as gifts. The super bright, super clean light is amazing. This is a heavy-duty flashlight, very well constructed, and is claimed to be water resistant to splashes (IPX4 rated). As far as the 6 furnished AA batteries, I suspect this is needed in order to develop 9 volts. LEDs use very little power. I am very impressed.
If you made the Classic to use Two(2) D-cell batteries just like the original used, then maybe I'd buy it. 6 double-A's just don't cut it at all. It still says it's on back-order. And it's way too expensive compared to a Maglite.
Hi Chuck, sorry to hear that. Double AA's are much more common in households and we try to use batteries that most people have around the house. That said, the Classic is actually much cheaper than any 600 lumen MagLite equivalent (their mid-sized 611 lumen light is $60). It is no longer on backorder, but is available for a limited time.
If there are ever any plans to re-release this flashlight, could I recommend making it rechargeable with a usb c outlet similar to the barebones classic flashlight? Theres many flashlights that use rechargeable AA lithium ion batteries that are also backwards compatible with standard AA batteries. Would be nice if you guys ever made one again.
Hi Galen! We have 50,000 limited-edition Classics available, but not all 50,000 have made it from our factory to our distribution center yet (they're all on their way). If your order went through, you are all set! You should receive them in the next 1-2 weeks!
