Used sounds from the beginning, but the problem is they are loud AF, and even with a diesel engine blasting by, you can hear those same crows from over 100 m away.
There are two wagons with exact 20m, one yellow other green, that help makes measurements over tracks.
One super tip that makes tracks a hell lot realistic, and I'm still to discover someother people actually using it, is the super elevation. There's an Excel file on the Trainz Forum to make calculations, and you need to know what's the top speed and minimum curve radius (can find that via Google Earth by drawing a circle that follows the curve). I'm using that on my routes (see the latest on my channel to see the efect!).
    Cheers from Portugal!

Yes, some sound assets are much too loud or much to quiet. There's really nothing you can do about that without editing the asset itself, and then you'd need to get permission from the asset's author to be able to share it. You could make your own sounds assets, but I'm only just starting to make custom assets for trainz myself, so I can't really help there.
And yes, superelevation does add a lot in some cases! :)
