Hello, may I ask what kind of Mac are you using? It seems to be handling the game pretty well. Thanks in advance.
Apple M2 Max (Mac Studio)
I don't understand, is this just a time periods exploration or also a dinosaur park series?
This series focuses on getting to and exploring the time periods (as dimensions in-game). In our previous series we dug up fossils and made a 'park', and we originally wanted to add the dimension mods to that world, but it was too many big mods to run without crashing.
Can you show us how to correctly signal a diamond? It's not particularly nice to see the trains just phase through each other.
As far as I know the only way of doing that is through manually controlling the aspects of the signals with session rules. Though you could probably come up with some way of automating when the signals change with lots of variables and triggers, I'd recommend scripting it on a per use basis. So if you're making a session where a train is expected to come through the diamond, and you want a second train to stop for it, force the second train's signal to be red (using the "Set Signal" session rule) until the first train sets it back to automatic by running over a trigger placed after the diamond (using the "Trigger Check" and "Set Signal" session rules). You can also do signalling with interlocking towers, but I've never used those and doubt that they can handle diamonds.
There are a few things that suck about creating rail ladders. When you remove the tails it ruins the junction (a disassociated spline) thus making the junction useless. Even in S20 this is still a huge issue, and causes much grief for me even though I have (at the time of this writing) nearly 200 hours invested in just 2 weeks. There is no real fix other than starting over and over again. The hours of frustration really should not be a thing when laying rail ladders. The other annoyance with rail ladders is creating parallel tracks. The end splines want to connect automatically. You have to hold shift down to prevent it, but if it connects you have to do a ctrl z command which then resets that previous track. Next when creating a new junction adjacent to the previous, the starting point always wants to connect to the nearest spline point (distance doesn't matter). If you hold down shift when creating a junction, the starting position doesn't get create the lever, but the other end of it does. This should never be as difficult to create yard latter rails, but it does due to the behavior of the splines. Maybe splines worked better in S10, because you (and Approach Medium) never seem to have the problem I (and most likely others) face.
I'm not sure what you mean by "When you remove the tails it ruins the junction (a disassociated spline) thus making the junction useless." Could you send a screenshot of what the problem is on Discord? Yep, you have to hold down shift a lot. It eventually becomes second nature, I don't even think about it anymore. If you want to make a junction close to another spline point (without it connecting to that other spline point), you can manually insert a second spline point where you want the junction to connect to - then connect the junction to that. This is a lot easier with S2.0 where you can select a spline, then move the 3D cursor (camera pivot) to where you want the new spline point to be (you'll see the middle gizmo on the selected spline move to where the 3D cursor is), then finally insert a new spline point from the context menu. After this is done, you can either move the new spline point along the track by selecting it and using the gizmo to drag it, or if you're happy with the placement, you can then add your junction to it without fear of it snapping to the other spline point. A thing to keep in mind (which is actually a very useful tool, if you know about it), is that if you remove a spline point from the middle of the spline, it will flip the spline (e.g. if you have a road with a sidewalk on the left, then delete a spline point in the middle of a road section, that section will then have the sidewalk on the right). This also flips the position of trackside objects to the other end of the spline, which can be annoying if you don't know what's causing it. I haven't tested this, but undoing the insertion of a spline point (such as when you add a junction to a track) _may_ also invert the spline. But again, I've not tested this. Also, if you add a spline point into a spline that was straightened, one part of the spline will remain straightened, the other will not - and has to be straightened manually. While I know that it's not helpful, dealing with the quirks and annoyances of trainz does become a lot easier with practice.
Thanks very much for this episode 4 on track alying and junctions. Very well explained. It helped me to get my own first straight and curved tracks laid out nicely.
How can I hide the driver commands when I’m filming?
In driver, pressing the *F5* key toggles the user interface. You can also bind a key to hide the UI in surveyor. I've bound that to numpad-period.
@@Sharadise On macbook?
@@TrainLover-wt9ix You can re-bind these controls to whatever keys you like here: *Main Menu > Burger Menu (top left) > Settings... > Control Settings.* The driver UI toggle control is called *"Toggle interface visibility"* (found with the "Driver" filter selected at the top), and the surveyor UI toggle control is called *"Toggle GUI"* (found with the "Surveyor" filter selected at the top). If you bind a control to a key that's already bound to another control (so that the same key is shared between multiple controls), the key text will become red.
love the detail work thank you * Happy Rails *
How do you mimic trees? I cannot place too many trees or else my computer will catch on fire. So how do I make it seem like there are more trees than there actually are?
Performance can be tricky. Here are a few tips: 1) Turn down tree detail in the settings. This will make 3D speed trees turn to 2D 'impostors' at a closer distance to the camera (turning other settings like shadow quality, shader quality, post processing, water quality, and render distance down will also improve performance). 2) Only place trees in high density close to the tracks, and with low density further away from the tracks (e.g. the main part of a forest will have fewer trees per 10x10 meters than right next to the tracks). 3) Use old 2D trees (or a mix of old 2D trees and 3D speed trees) further away from the tracks (maybe search for 'JVC' & 'Tree' on the DLS). These usually don't look good close up in TRS19+ due to the lighting. 4) Only have 3D trees close to the tracks, and use forest backdrop splines/objects to fake woods when the player looks through the tree line (search for 'Forest' & 'Backdrop'/'Background' on the DLS). 5) Use exclusively old 2D tree assets (again these usually look bad in TRS19+ due to the new lighting). Another general tip is to make sure the other assets you use don't have too many triangles (to check an asset's triangle count: select the asset in question in the content manager, then click Content > Open > Preview Asset). Note that some assets with a lot of triangles have LODs that display a lower resolution model at a distance. These are usually quite performance efficient even if the closest displayed model has a lot of triangles. You can check if an asset uses LODs by seeing if the Triangle Count goes down if you select a higher LOD Distance in the preview asset window. Assets with a lot of curves tend to have more triangles (e.g. high quality cars/busses). Using non-procedural tracks (tracks that do not generate animated tracks at junctions) also improves performance. I can also suggest reducing the amount of rolling stock that placed down, as trains tend to have a lot of triangles. Hope this helps.
@@Sharadise thank you. One more question if it isn’t a bother, how do you add walls and tables? Like some people have actual model layouts where it is suspended on tables and has walls in the background and a floor. Like an actual room. I can send a link to one of the videos if I described this poorly
@@whatisthis6259 They're just specific assets from the DLS. I suggest downloading model layout routes from the DLS, and then picking them apart for their assets. I recommend author philskene's work. Here's one of his several model railway routes: <KUID2:69871:3539:1>

I tried the in-game DLS and the website but it gives the same answers. I have a my trainz account and signed in, however I have the free version. Is this because of that or my internet? just listening to this while i write tomorrow's STA 2e - Starfleet Academy session... keeps getting distracted by having to look at pictures..
How big would you say is the difference between STA 1e and 2e?
There's a problem; whenever I try to use height down, there's just unremovable water and it can't be moved or deleted. How do I get rid of this water.
I already replied to you about this on tutorial #1. :)
@@Sharadise sorry thanks
How did you get it to be a grid on start? It just colors it and puts unremovable water where I don't want it 😭
The default terrain texture is determined by the region in TRS22. If you want it to be the grid, use "Grid Region" which should be built-in, or download and use "CDE UK Grid Region" (or a similar asset) from the DLS. As for the water, that sounds like you're using TRS22 Platinum, which I believe creates a water effects layer by default. If you delete that layer, the water will be gone (you can also set the default height of that water effects layer to something like -1000 which will also get rid of it).

Thank you so much! I want to start posting long-form content running various DLC from Jointed Rail and/or RRmods, and there's no way to have a good session wihout an AI train or two running in the background. It really makes the session feel alive, and I will be using this so much more often!
Anyone else notice the car merge through the train at 2:15?
Hahaha yeah, I hadn't fixed the crossing triggers from TANE yet.
damn youtube, how'd you let me miss this? lol
What type of signal you used since I need it for a route I’m making
You can see the name of the signal in the menu on the top right at 1:24 . I think they were from the DLS. If not, you can search the DLS for "Searchlight", and you should find some good ones. :)
I don’t think I was able to find the specific one but I at least found a good one so thanks
I watch this knowing I am more terrible at building
Just keep building without worrying how it turns out. You'll get there. :)
Hello Sharadise, good video. I have a question for you, do you know how to import Google Earth overlays into Trainz so that the map can be used to trace out real life routes?
I've never done this myself, so I can't personally help you here; but I can suggest that you search for TransDEM on RUclips.

0:57 and if the train name its in red and i cant spawn?
I believe it either means that the asset is faulty, or has missing dependancies. Have a look at the asset in the Content Manager to figure out what the issue is.
@@Sharadise i have trainz 22 and i have missing dependancies
@@carloossfernandez If the dependencies aren't on the DLS, they might be from a payware package that you do not have installed, or from a third-party website. Your best bet is contacting the author of the asset in question, and asking them where to get the missing dependencies (give them the dependency KUIDS). You will likely be able to send them a message via MyTrainz, if they're still active and haven't blocked messages. If that doesn't help, you can post a question about this in the trainz forums (with the hope that some random player might know what you're talking about), or ask on the official trainz discord server (but your request might get buried in new messages, and repeat posting of the same question is frowned upon). If all that still didn't solve the issue, you can try to manually edit the asset in question to substitute the missing dependency for another, although that will make sharing anything that uses your modified asset more difficult as you need the author's permission to publicly share their asset (even if you've modified it). Hope this helps.
@@Sharadise thank you so much
Oh man. I would love to join cuz playing Minecraft alone is boring and I have no friends
Not a public server, sorry. Volunteering is usually a good way of meeting new people and making friends.
I don't have some of the textures you have here. how did you get them?
Either they're from the DLS, or they were from one of the DLCs that came with that version of trainz (TRS19 Standard).
@@Sharadise Ty
@@Sharadise I found them, but are they seasonal?
@@danikoo582 I have no idea, sorry. But probably not.
You just earned your self a subscriber well done sir.
Wow shaders are really good! Always love watching your streams, just wish I could make it to them!
how do you place track so straight like that, im having some trouble since i can never place straight track 1:49
I'm unsure what you mean. Could you give me an example of what you're having trouble with? What's going wrong for you?
:)
Bro, how about if we want to delete the train?
If you want to uninstall an asset, simply right click it in the inspector, and click 'Delete'. Does that answer your question?
Although beware, if you've already used an asset on a route/session and then uninstall the asset, it will still be a dependancy of that route/session. So the route/session will have 'missing dependencies' unless you delete the asset from the route/session before uninstalling it. If you've already got a route/session with 'missing dependencies', in most cases you can use surveyor classic's 'Remove Missing Assets' function in the 'Edit' menu to get rid of them.

Awesome job man
Having watched the development process live, I cannot begin to describe the high level of care and attention to detail level Sharadise has put in to this project. There is so much passion poured in that I am confident that everyone will enjoy this fantastic addition to Trainz.
Wow these assets must have taken some development, so good on those people who did. And full marks to Sharadise for getting your head around it all. Not sure I would be rushing into building a catenary route any time soon, though it's impressive to see how it works.
To be honest, the catenary work I did in this video is a bit amateurish. You can make things a lot more realistic with placing individual hangers, wires, isolators, weights, etc... but that level of detail is of course very time consuming.
! can not seem to get an answer to why my MAP table is white instead of being Gray? White hurts the eyes. can I change this? Thanks
If you mean the background when you zoom out to the map view in TRS22, then that's just how it is in the newest version of trainz unfortunately. If this is what you mean, then the only work-around I can see is maybe changing the bottom skybox colour in the environmental settings to something darker? I haven't tried this though.
@@Sharadise So we are on the same page. The map floor when wire frame mod is on. That is when it is all white. Nice to have grid lines but the white is a bit to much. Ty

Hey, I need to ask something. So, I'm playing the good old Trainz on mobile (2010 version). Somehow, I don't have the "show waybill" option on the top right.... It never appears in any session, so I never had access to the waybill screen.... But strangely enough, the waybill % in the queue still there, as well as the wait for waybill rule.... I've never used Trainz on mobile, sorry. I would suggest you ask about this on the official trainz discord server for the quickest response, or in the trainz forums.
Well done. Thanks.
