Thanks a lot. My previous wallpaper was a picture of : 1.01^365=37.8 0.99^365=0.03 Now it is your profile picture. I'm going to use the ideas to live better!
There is an aspect of that which is hard to address for me personally. What if you know what you love, and what you want to do, but it doesn't make enough money to feed the family? I've been making youtube videos for 9 years, for example, and don't make anything on them due to my resistance to ads, and lack of ability to ask for patreon donations. My passion is writing, like you, and research, but how do we find time to do what we *love* while working to make enough to survive?
Finding your flow, and even broader understanding your own patterns and habits is a cornerstone of self improvement as it will help you identify various sources of productivity improvement, such as points 1 through 4. Great job on this video as always! 👏👏
Heres to you guys calling me on my bad habits again like a true friend should 🍻 Recently I have had a very cluttered and messy room/workspace, and I have noticed it has been harder to focus. But this changes today, and it is thanks to your video. Thank you for the great tips!
Social media are okay if they are integrated with the work that is most important to you. That's what the guy who makes these videos is doing. That's the real lesson to be learned regarding social media. Use it. Don't let it use you.
Please keep posting these kinds of videos because I am taking a lot of queues from these. It is full of substance and wisdom. It revived my interest in the habits I have to develop further.
Thank you so much for being so dedicated to this channel. I use your videos as a starting point for my personal work every day. I choose one of your videos to watch and take notes on in the morning, and I use those notes to help me make better decisions when I am working on my project. I have an idea for a video: Could you make a video that demonstrates ways to combine Flow and Deep Work? I believe that if I could figure out how to get into these double-down state of mind I would be able to get a lot more high-quality work done in a shorter amount of time. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for these, reminders of what I know inside but ignore. My office is a *disaster* and it is hard to keep it clean, with all my hobbies. When it IS clean, it makes all the difference! great channel.
for me it is just having too much work. I have tried every method I could find: Time Boxing/Chunking, Pomodoro Technique, Prioritizing, changing schedule to try in increase productivity, organizers/new methods. etc. The bottom line is I just have way too much work to get done in any given week. And I work faster, I make mistakes, and I just get 'rewarded' with more work (and also it sets a false standard that I could never keep up, such as working without a break extreme hours), and leads to burnout. There is no 'talking to the boss', where I work or looking for a new job at this stage in my life. I just wish I could work at a pace I can handle without making mistakes, and ithout feeling overwhelmed all the time / feeling the need to work extreme hours just to keep up.
I love these! And I’ve certainly found them all to be true! It’s crazy once you cut back drastically on internet noise how difficult it becomes to even tolerate. It’s all so...noisy. 😂 I’ll add one about dehydration: it wasn’t until I spoke with a registered dietitian that I got a great estimate on how much water I should be drinking. I was doing half my body weight in ounces + 20% for heat and activity level and she has me add an EXTRA 30% to that number! I feel the difference! Granted it’s a lot of water and I don’t drink anything else now. 😂 Point being: gets personalized professional advice goes a long way!
Great tips! Social media can definitely be a black hole. I get swept into RUclips videos. To stay super focused and actually measure my productivity I use the pomodoro technique.
I feel like I have flow when I drink. I did my best man speech tipsy last week. And it was amazing. I was saying things I didnt even write down and it was awesome.
5:01 working out to keep focused 6:10 cleaning your room/office bc you can't concentrate fully w/ a mess 8:10 reject the first distractions of opening a new tab or making coffee so that you can stay in and protect your flow!!
Hello.. many thanks for your insights🙋♀️. Below is a suggestion inspired from this video - but I didn't try it out.. yet: A boring Task is due: work for 5-10min, if u didn't get into z FLOW - move to smthg else ur PASSIONATE about - for a "short" while (e.g. 30min)... Then repeat another 5-10min of z boring Task etc
The water intake is straight facts. I'm at work 5 times a week, I drink about 100 ounces at work and more when I get home. I have to go to the bathroom however, I feel like I have caught alot more things and issued this items alot faster too.
I have two other tips. 1. Use a program that blocks access to time wasting apps, like StayFocused on Windows. By default, this limits the amount of time you can spend on these sites to 10 minutes per working day. 2. Use a Pomodoro app to focus on work tasks for 25 minutes at a time and then allow a short 5 minute break. This creates mini-deadlines throughout the day and gives your brain time to recharge. Most apps also allow you to track the number of Pomodoros completed per day, so you can monitor how much you're improving over time.
I recommend the app “freedom”. U can block social media, RUclips, etc.. for scheduled times or specific times in the day when you’re trying to stay focused
Re: Hydration-the Mayo Clinic guidelines are reported correctly, BUT! They also point out that most people get 20% of their water intake from the food they eat. So for actual *water* drinking (by itself), the Mayo goals are a more manageable 3 liters for men (about four 24 ounce/720 ml water bottles) and a bit over 2 liters for women (about.3 twenty-four ounce water bottles). You can count coffee (less than 3 cups a day or it starts to have a diuretic effect), tea, milk, and juice in that total, but don’t count alcoholic drinks-you need extra water to process the alcohol, so they can actually be dehydrating
I think why people cannot focus on a task nowadays is we live in a destructive society everything is design to destruct us from bettering our lives that's why life is so complicated all people need is to put down their phone's and read more books :)
Strangely, I also find that being drunk at work all day has a tendency to impair my performance. Thoughts? What could I be doing wrong? Perhaps I am simply not drunk enough.
Checking these types of videos and making notes is part of my daily productivity routine. ;-) It's 10 minutes well spent. Even if you already know a lot of the information, you will usually learn something and reinforce the rest.
Ive found that none of these videos will truly bring internal change, the only way to work hard and be productive is to work hard and be productive, theres no real way of changing that, just stay grounded in what you have to get done, eat only to make sure you dont starve while working, sleep only to recharge your body and mind, the primary focus is the objective at hand and nothing else, if you just dedicate yourself to what needs to get done, you dont need all this stuff
@@michaelwilson8806 yeah ok the point of the vid is to try to help you be more productive, yet my point is that you dont need this video to be more productive
Dietary reference intake: Electrolytes and water. The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. www.nationalacademies.org/hmd/Activities/Nutrition/DRIElectrolytes.aspx There is a link in the description for more information.
The Art of Improvement Just read it - I do think it’s worth modifying your advice to include (1) water from food reduces the need to drink so much water so the 2 liters most people aim for is probably fine and (2) drinking that much will imbalance your electrolytes so supplementing these is a good idea to maintain overall body health.
I hate when people come to this advice of "Love what you do, do what you love" and this kind of bewbanigan, We already know that i'ts easier to play all day and consume or study game related stuff instead of doing all the chores, but the chores is why we came here AND WE MOST CERTAINLY WONT LOVE THE CHORES DUDE - BUT WE GOTTA DO WHAT WE GOTTA DO... . . . For this comment, you can say that Mess is stress for realz, so the other advices are really on spot. :v Huidsahdiuhaiu
Thinking about the messy office spends mental bandwidth. The hydration, however, while real, needs to loose the RDA specifications. It is actually very unhealthy to drink the amount of water recommended by the fools in Washington.
I love your videos, but that has to be the sorriest rendition of an "engine" that I've ever seen, lol. Looks like two metal socks on a deli slicer. :-) Keep up the good work!

Limit social media
Drink water
Stay active
Keep things tidy

Exercising or taking my dog for a long walk right before doing anything productive usually gets me into that flow state for a few hours.

Great video

Watching this is my prideful way of not being productive, nice video though

It certainly is for a lot of people, including myself.

Also, don't have multiple tabs opened on your web browser.

If you drink a lot of water, you will automatically need to move more to go to the bathroom more frequently
