Well the idiots that say you're paying for the bone have not been paying attention to the price. A steak such as the tomahawk or cowboy which both come with large bones in them are usually quite cheaper by the pound. Do some research before ragging on somebody. Cook away my friend.
Great cook. Also appreciate the tip on putting the probe in the meat prior to putting on the grill. I need to use that idea for my future videos. And that steak looks amazing.
That looks awesome. I did this once for my son when I only had a gas grill, it was great, but this is next step, think I will make this for myself for fathers day,, I followed your pulled pork recipe and folks thought it was the best pulled pork they had ever had. I've done a few other things as we'll , but everything is coming off the pit boss is so good. cant wait to do this. hmmm maybe i won't
Delicious medium rare tomahawk Darrin! Steaks are always great cooked simple like that and with a basic rub. Have a fantastic memorial weekend brother!
Awesome video Darrin. That steak looked mouthwatering! Give the bone to your puppers! Does that pitboss have a light on the inside? Have a great weekend.
Just tried your method and my God the steak came out beautifully. I cooked it for a mates birthday and his jaw dropped on how tender and juicy it was. I'm sticking with this method for now on, great video.
@@AshKickinBBQ it was a great one, i did a reverse sear on mine from the Zgrill smoker to the blackstone flat top. lots of butter and garlic. turned out amazing! thanks for the video my dude! today is my birthday and i got a amazon card from mom and ordered a MeatStick X thermometer, very excited! and the father-in-law got me a turkey fryer, so its a 2 bird kinda year, one for the fryer, and one for the smoker! cant wait!
My experience…. Adding seasoning prior to the smoke does little to nothing for flavor. I also take my steak off smoker at 100 to 110 because 125 leads to an overcooked steak as I’m searing. During my sear I baste the steak with an olive oil infused with my preferred rub. I remove from searing at 125, and add another layer of rub infused oil while it’s resting.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I hope you're having a great week! I appreciate you watching!
Shit I thought Luke combs started a smoke show.
Lol
I cut the bone off prior to cooking and give it to my dog, I could just buy thick ribeye and save some money but he loves the bone so much.
Lol, the things we do for our dogs. I love it!
Got to keep mans best friend happy

Thank you! And yes, it really helps dial in the doneness!
Great job bro! I had my first tomahawk at a restaurant for my wife's birthday and I paid$100 for it. It was worth it! I kept the bone 🦴! LOL 😂

How long does it take to get to 115°?
That’s going to depend on your cooker
@@AshKickinBBQ ok thanks.
While you were letting it get up to temp of 115 degrees how often were you flipping the steak or did you leave it on the original side the whole time?
flip it halfway through

How long did you sear each side? Do you ever leave the temp probe in to monitor during the sear step? Thank you i am doing this today.
Sear until you have a good crust. I did not leave the probe in during the sear.
Looks amazing, I'm going tobgive that a try this weekend
Hope you enjoy
