Rhaenyra thought as a Targaryan that the crown and being royal was her right. Daenerys had to fight to regain what her family had lost. These are the two main reasons for the difference.
U can say both Rt and Daenerys thought being royalty was their rights to the throne but only one character did anything to fortify her power n control n was constantly active in achieving that goal.
Daenerys wanted the throne more than anything vs for Rhaenyra it was a DUTY she accepted. Daenerys is a conqueror, Rhaenyra could be a good ruler. Each time Rhaenyra tried to get involved, the Hand and her father the King pushed her aside (like "go back to your dolls, little girl" : at the council when she suggested to send the dragons to the Stepstones, when she saved the egg and a few mens' lives at Dragonstone, her father don't even listen to her and say she is too young, and then she is humiliated by Alicent when she proposes a wedding that could solve the problem and avoid war. And the mom at home is Alicent. Rhaenyra always traveled with Syrax, and then with Daemon and Laena (in the book).
To me the legacy of Danny is better and while she was a conquerer she was a decent ruler. Danny was also ruling a land during a time when she recently conquered them. N while you are correct with saying what Rhaenyra did in episode 2 which really proved her value she also undermined her own self constantly in nearly every episode after that. 1.The proposal to Alicent was a desperate one n would have not avoided war since Rt is still putting bastards on the iron throne. 2. Rt only proposed the match to strengthen Jace claim and because the rumors of her sons parentage is in jeopardy. (Which is al Rt fault) 3. She left kings landing in the hands of her enemies. 4. Didnt visit her father for 6 years. 5. Married Daemon who was denounced as heir which is the sole reason as to y she was named heir in the first place. 6. She never built any alliances on dragonstone for 6 years just stayed on an island with her husband. For all the reasons I have stated she was not a good heir n since she wasnt a good heir i cant see her as a good ruler. She had potential but she didnt care for the rules or the culture of westeros n she made no effort to gather strength to change that order she said she would do change. Not the biggest fan of Rhaenyra and to me Danny was easily the better character out of the two.
Good analysis! It always bothered me that Rhaenyra didn't even try to stay in Kings Landing and chose to live with her children in Dragonstone without doing anything for herself politically.
That decision is just one line of a word of bad decisions lol I mean who thought being on vacation for 6 years away from my job title would have negative affects on my future job 🧐…..not to mention she left her job in the hands of her enemies 😂
@@jjosifovic Exactly! Also, Rhaenyra had a dragon, she could have left her children in Dragonstone and traveled during the day on her private plane. As a woman, it bothers me that women in HOTD are constant victims of patriarchy and do nothing for themselves, but in Game of Thrones the female characters at least tried. I would have even liked Rhaenyra to be like Cersei lol
