Hi Jim! I've been raised on celtic music through my dad and this song has always been around when I was a kid. I'm 41 now and recently I bought a cheap banjo on a whim (it had been on my mind for years but when I first heard the Dead South I couldn't help it) and last week I started learning the Devil's Dream. It's a bit harder than your 10 beginners courses I've done before, but playing that song from my childhood makes me happy. I know the 5-string is different from the irish tenor but maybe you heard of some other irish/scottish tunes that could be adapted to the 5-string? That would be awesome. And by the way, after failing for years to learn to properly play the guitar I'm having a lot of fun learning the banjo from your videos. You're the best, I wanted to say a big thank you! Brilliant Jim but I really struggle with the concept of melodic banjo style. Had a stroke & left hand just doesn't want to work with me. I guess I prefer Scruggs style as it feels more "natural", as in I don't have to think too hard where my fingers need to be.
