The change to "Man, I really wish that I were his wife" is a genius move. It would be an amazing beginning to a story where Asha doesn't understand that one person's wish could cost someone else their happiness. Imagine before that line we hear about how devoted and in love the king is with his wife and that his power is directly tied to the queen's support. The kingdom would not be as successful without her. So then this lady says that she wishes she was the king's wife...there's a pause where it pans to other residents who look kind of uncomfortable with what she said, but Asha just melts at the thought of this random lady finding her true love in the king. This sets up Asha's idealist character flaw that everyone should get their wish. This would also seed the idea that the King is absolutely right to vet wishes so they don't conflict or rob others of their autonomy. This type of facially innocent but ultimately selfish wish could come from two more residents before her interview with the King in "at all costs." Then we could do something fun with his backstory. He could have been wish-crazy as a young man; destroying his old home by granting everyone's wishes. Imagine wives were torn away from husbands, land was redistributed to those who just wished they could have it instead, musicians and artists becoming jealous and fighting with people who simply wished they could play gorgeous music or paint masterpieces without the trials of learning the discipline. And it all starts in this first song.
Let's crowd fund this movie. I love that the tagline for the movie is "be careful what you wish for" but then in the movie they make every wish out to be the most beautiful, pure thing in the world that would never cause anyone harm.
YOOOO, and that would make Asha the villain! I would've loved that, if this was from the perspective of her as a villain, and then at the end she realizes the harm she's doing and grows as a person, maybe the King isn't totally in the right but he's portrayed as more right than her, and then she and the king can compromise on the wishes to make the concept of granting them more fulfilling for everyone while still keeping back the dangers of indulging in granting them too much. DISNEY WAS THAT SO HARD TO THINK OF???
@@frostedsketch14 yeah like what if the evil magic book was actually used this way: Asha secretly breaks into the kings lab early in the movie and gains magic for herself, knocking the first domino of the movie where everyone gets their wishes. After her night in the castle she sneaks back home. When she wakes up it appears like everything went smoothly and for a couple days things are actually working well for the villagers and people are making good wishes. The king appears like he is over reacting by sensing the disturbance in the wishes and has his evil villain song investigating how this all happened. In fact the song could be called “how could this happen.” Later in the movie the world is ending because it’s making contradicting wishes and everything is overloading and breaking apart! The king reveals to Asha his past in a sad song called “I know how this happened” where he sings about how this all happened before and he knows how it’ll end if he doesn’t do something to stop it. So he sacrifices his magic and all magic in the world by using the book. The book doesn’t make you evil but the cost is once you use it, you can never do the thing you love to do anymore (which for the king is practicing magic). The next morning the world doesn’t have any magic at all and the king is gone and everyone is mad at Asha. Instead of slinking away in shame Asha sings a pseudo I am song; “I am short sighted, I am foolish; I am selfish.” She asks herself how she can repair the damage she’s caused, the Queen (or her grandpa who wanted to inspire the next generation) heard her and together they become determined to right Asha’s wrong. Then the movies message is “you don’t need magic to change the world for the better and make your wishes come true, but you do need wisdom and compassion to make them a reality.” (Ala the greatest Disney movie princess and the frog)
I'm a native Spanish speaker, so I pay a LOT of attention to that because one one mistake in the emphasis of a syllable and you end up talking about a completely different subject
Besides the awkward emphasis on the wrong syllables, there’s this weird disconnect between the lyrics and the animation. Asha is singing about all of this magic and whimsy that happens in Rosas, but everything looks so…normal? Like, there’s nothing going on that wouldn’t really happen in a normal kingdom-people milling around somewhat aimlessly, occasional entertainers, a market etc. Nothing matches up with what is being described and the result is this uncanny valley kind of situation.
That's the consequence of giving your music team a few sentences of context with no script or storyboard, and putting a one week deadline on them. And then also leaving most of the story on the cutting room floor anyway

Tbh I tried AI & it does not make awful lyrics like that. AI is very generic in it's songwriting, and lacks a human luster, but it is still better than wish.

As a storyboard artist, I couldn't help but notice how the visuals RARELY went along with the lyrics like they would in any good Disney movie, and I think you observing the "the greatest creations are all on display" and asking "where?" Was the first time in the movie when I felt like I knew it was going to suck lol
Same! I’m a fish out of water in this music business, so all I can do is nod along and go with my gut. But I know lyrics, and I know art, and even the visuals felt really underwhelming during every song. It was really noticeable during “This is the Thanks I Get?” and “Knowing what I know Now”, because the characters’ theatrics seldom matched the subject of each sentence. They had to run all over the place and generate random visuals, but it felt like it was performance instead of an extension of the characters’ mindsets. Very odd.

it wasn't, it was a reuslt of piss poor production issues. you get a similar result with AI cus AI at the end of the day lacks a shit ton of context for whatever you're giving it (no matter what the AI Bros tell you it's not concious enough to understand context or read your vibes), it barely feels doubt. Julia Michaels was also given absolutely NO CONTEXT to the story for her to write, and she only had a few weeks to write it all. Not to mention as we all saw, a crap tone of good storybeats got scrapped to hell. So is it no wonder the lyrics sound so bad when all she basically has to work with was "this is this character, she is this, write us a song about her giving a tour, you got a week" and almost jack all? Im serious btw I think in the artbook Julia says soemthing along the lines that all she was told was Asha is a good guy and activist, and in one video interview she talks about how she inly had like a week to do it. Activist is so broad a term that can me anything on it's own. to clarify Im not defending AI. Just saying its why it and these songs sucks and sound similar. But unfortunately this is written by people, and even AI is made by people, mistakes are bound to happen. youre right that hopefully everyone hates AI due to its many failures, but my hope is that maybe this time we all can finally stop and realize Hollywood practically tortures their staff resulting in garbage like this and therefore we should also hate that practice and do something about it before they just continue to be shitty and start using AI.

What bothers me so much about this whole song sequence animation-wise, is how eerily empty Rosas is. There was more life in the city of Atlantis and Triton's great hall and Encanto-village than this sad excuse of a city has. All I see are half empty streets and so much sad, plain stone color everywhere, and I fail to see any magic in that unless you are a engraver or something.
I just realized why the cast of Wish weirds me out so much. When you look at the characters in the background of welcome to Rosas they ALL feel like Shrek background characters. Why do they look like that?
The rendering feels very unpolished and "plastic-y" (for lack of better term LOL) the lackluster quality is very apparent considering their past movies Which is funny because dreamworks sent their failed animators from prince of egypt to work on shrek as a form of punishment (get "Shreked" as they called it) hence why shrek looked like the way it does, yet the movie pulled through

I read in an article that they only had 6 weeks to write and compose each song. All from a single paragraph describing the context of the song. If that’s true, then I can’t really blame them for the lackluster writing. I don’t know much about songwriting, but it sounds impressive they got done at all.
Maybe because they had to rewrite a lot of the movie? I’m guessing that they didn’t really work on the songs too much because of the changes the movie had... so when the deadline came closer and closer, they had to rush everything. That’s my guess on why the movie is so.... bad...

I haven’t watched Wish. HOWEVER. I can’t help but notice there’s a really bubbly, slender, long-haired, somewhat naïve befreckled princess in a purple a-line dress. We didn’t even wanna TRY not recreate Rapunzel? Raya/the awkwafina dragon also had this personality type. I feel like I’m going insane, it’s just the same character reskinned
Disney keeps using adorkable personality type for their Disney princess characters because it worked so well for Rapunzel, but I think Disney forgot WHY it works for her. She was sheltered in a tower for her entire life. She doesn't know how to interact with people so of course she's awkward, she's never spoken to another human being other than Mother Gothel. That's why this personality type doesn't work for other characters because presumably they've interacted with more than one person before

I actually think that’s a starting point to their problem with these songs. A lot of the vibes and melodies are straight taken from Moana and the style and purpose of many songs are taken from Encanto (most Disney movies start with a world building song yet this one almost copies exactly what Encanto does with their opener). They’re trying to do Lin Manuel without Lin Manuel and it’s like we’ve actually had enough now, we can use different song styles, he is not the end all be all when it comes to music even if I do still enjoy most of his work. They needed a new style for this movie and they did NOT do that.
"We Don't Talk about Bruno" was a radio hit, and so Disney wanted pop songs instead of show tunes, so they hired a pop songwriter. The irony is that "We Don't Talk about Bruno" ISN'T built like a pop song. It is a show tune.
really miss the 2D disney characters, they feel so much like real people, just dramatized a bit. I know theyre trying to be "relatable" by giving us awkward protagonists, but it just comes off as "teehee im so goofy and awkward and different haha lol random XD". Rapunzel gets a pass, she was isolated in a tower for her entire life. Moana isn’t as awkward to my memory, more like a prodigy trying to find her place rather than being quirky. Anna gets blurred, because although she had limited contact, she still had an entire castle’s worth of staff to be with. Naive? Sure! Awkward? Doesn’t make as much sense as a princess and representative for her country. Never had a tutor for customs and political etiquette? Poor world building if that’s the case. Mirabel? Mmm, she’s also a representative of her family basically ruling over a town. Now we are repeating this personality. Asha? Yeah, now there really is no reason.

The songs had literally nothing to do with what was going on in the movie. The song in the wishes room did not fit anything of what was going on. It didn’t even work metaphorically. “This is The Thanks I Get” is the most decent song in this movie (which is terrible), outside of the three lines Queen Amaya sings in the rebellion song which had all the bite of a geriatric, toothless hamster. I shit you not, we watched Cats after Wish. Cats at least was enjoyable in an ironic way, Wish was so bad and bland that I couldn’t even find joy in joking about it.
the song in the wishes room was originally a love song from the draft of the plot between the mc and the star boy, the original plot was scrapped but they kept the song and changed a few words to make it "fit" if you hear the demo you clearly see it. I also thought the song and scenes were making no sense whatsoever 😅
My kids and I had a lot of fun laughing reading the lyrics to the songs when we watched it.....and the weird things people said randomly.....At first I thought it sounded like when you translate a song to English from another language and then I was like......this whole movie is AI generated isn't it?
Both in lyrics and in staging. Seriously, just from these clips alone, it looks like a reversal of everything Mirabel did in that song. Mirabel and the family are going forward through the town, where Asha is going backwards, and both are just expositing about there homes/people they live with. It’s literally the same thing just backwards!

The change on “place just as full of surprise” killed me bc, like, it’s the “just as” making it awkward, it’s there to fill space in the meter. You landed on “kingdom” by virtue of having already used “place” and it flows so much better…it’s such a subtle fix and yet it fixes so much

I actually like that song, especially because of the church I was raised in that deceived me my whole life and knowing what I know now, things are very different. I don’t like the “Wait ‘til they hear our feet go dun, dun, dun, dun, dun” part, but think that song is better than the others. Especially since it feels more like a song than just spitting out words like the verses of This Is the Thanks I Get (which I think Lin Manuel might be to blame for starting the trend of rambling instead of having a melody)

where i do musical theatre, my class (the senior class) had been put with the junior class to do a song from wish. specifically 'im a star' i hadn't heard ANY songs from wish at that point in time, and let me just say how badly i cringed at some of the lyrics. some sounded off, some of the pronunciation just pissed me off, and god help me, ill now have to listen to this song multiple times a week for the rest of the year.
THIS!!!! Heck, even the only song I like from this film, At All Cost (the demo version mostly), has certain lines from the song (mostly Asha's verse) that makes me cringe internally and externally. I literally have to reword the song in my head for me to fully enjoy it. That and also the love story we could have had between Asha and Starboy is what keeps this song good to me. 😢

To be fair, they did hire a songwriter who write pop songs for a living and for some reason they didn't hire theater or musical writers such as Lin Manuel Miranda or Alan Menken. They also had the deadline of only 6 weeks to finalize the songs. I hate the song because it sounded too modernized and pop-ish to the point that they just want to copy Lin Manuel Miranda's style but failed ultimately. I'm glad that, at least, the "Once Upon a Studio" short film has also been made. But I agree that getting "Wish" as a commemorative full-length movie is very upsetting and feels like a waste.

One change to the chorus though - I'd swap "no what-if and no wonders" to "no what-ifs and no worries" because of the positive meaning that people associate with the word "wonders". "wonders" is kind of an awkward word to pair with "what-ifs" since "what-ifs" has a negative meaning

The visuals and lyrics for “the greatest creations” definitely don’t line up. It kind of sounds like Rosas has amazing technology and inventions, but if that was the intention, they should have supported that by showing some sort of technology instead of … butterflies. 8:54 - maybe something along the lines of “when you grow up” could substitute for “eighteen”?
I hate how big of a decline Disney had with their music. They went from absolute masterpieces like A Whole New World, Snuff Out The Light ( I know it wasn’t officially in the movie BUT OMG IT SLAPS SO HARD- ), The entire Princess and the Frog soundtrack, and so much more to “Watch out world here I are!”
1:41 I didn’t thought of that weird conection between words It sounds a bit too safe and bad. I think an easy fix, if we don’t want to change much of the song, is “Welcome to Rosas, please come this way” The “e” can get elongated and make it so she Interacts more with the tour. Also, sounds better than repeating “come on” or spoiling a bit of what this kingdom is all about
the elongated e sounds really weird to me and "a magical place" is vague enough to not count as a spoiler. if you want to be closer to the original, something like "let's go, come this way" would work better than trying to make one syllable into two.
I kinda like the line "welcome to Rosas, come on, come this way", because to my ear it has just the right amount of lyrical percussion with a snappy pacing, that gives it some of that flamenco vibe. "A magical place" drags a bit awkwardly on the first syllable and it doesn't reflect Asha's excitement and energy quite as well. Overall I really like the first song, it's all the other songs that are the real stinkers.

I totally get this. A possible edit could be, "Welcome to Rosas, oh here, come this way" or some sort of variant of that to emphasize the quicker pacing rather than stretch out the word. Maybe using two one-syllable words to continue that pattern could help!

Gotta love seeing people who know a lot at work. Sure, it can be easier when you have a base *but that's what drafting is for*. As a professional editor, I actually wrote a whole rewrite of the film in my free time. The plot is good but, god, it's weighed down by the writing.

The change to "Man, I really wish that I were his wife" is a genius move. It would be an amazing beginning to a story where Asha doesn't understand that one person's wish could cost someone else their happiness. Imagine before that line we hear about how devoted and in love the king is with his wife and that his power is directly tied to the queen's support. The kingdom would not be as successful without her. So then this lady says that she wishes she was the king's wife...there's a pause where it pans to other residents who look kind of uncomfortable with what she said, but Asha just melts at the thought of this random lady finding her true love in the king. This sets up Asha's idealist character flaw that everyone should get their wish. This would also seed the idea that the King is absolutely right to vet wishes so they don't conflict or rob others of their autonomy. This type of facially innocent but ultimately selfish wish could come from two more residents before her interview with the King in "at all costs." Then we could do something fun with his backstory. He could have been wish-crazy as a young man; destroying his old home by granting everyone's wishes. Imagine wives were torn away from husbands, land was redistributed to those who just wished they could have it instead, musicians and artists becoming jealous and fighting with people who simply wished they could play gorgeous music or paint masterpieces without the trials of learning the discipline. And it all starts in this first song.

Let's crowd fund this movie. I love that the tagline for the movie is "be careful what you wish for" but then in the movie they make every wish out to be the most beautiful, pure thing in the world that would never cause anyone harm.
YOOOO, and that would make Asha the villain! I would've loved that, if this was from the perspective of her as a villain, and then at the end she realizes the harm she's doing and grows as a person, maybe the King isn't totally in the right but he's portrayed as more right than her, and then she and the king can compromise on the wishes to make the concept of granting them more fulfilling for everyone while still keeping back the dangers of indulging in granting them too much. DISNEY WAS THAT SO HARD TO THINK OF???

@@frostedsketch14 yeah like what if the evil magic book was actually used this way: Asha secretly breaks into the kings lab early in the movie and gains magic for herself, knocking the first domino of the movie where everyone gets their wishes. After her night in the castle she sneaks back home. When she wakes up it appears like everything went smoothly and for a couple days things are actually working well for the villagers and people are making good wishes. The king appears like he is over reacting by sensing the disturbance in the wishes and has his evil villain song investigating how this all happened. In fact the song could be called “how could this happen.” Later in the movie the world is ending because it’s making contradicting wishes and everything is overloading and breaking apart! The king reveals to Asha his past in a sad song called “I know how this happened” where he sings about how this all happened before and he knows how it’ll end if he doesn’t do something to stop it. So he sacrifices his magic and all magic in the world by using the book. The book doesn’t make you evil but the cost is once you use it, you can never do the thing you love to do anymore (which for the king is practicing magic). The next morning the world doesn’t have any magic at all and the king is gone and everyone is mad at Asha. Instead of slinking away in shame Asha sings a pseudo I am song; “I am short sighted, I am foolish; I am selfish.” She asks herself how she can repair the damage she’s caused, the Queen (or her grandpa who wanted to inspire the next generation) heard her and together they become determined to right Asha’s wrong. Then the movies message is “you don’t need magic to change the world for the better and make your wishes come true, but you do need wisdom and compassion to make them a reality.” (Ala the greatest Disney movie princess and the frog)

Besides the awkward emphasis on the wrong syllables, there’s this weird disconnect between the lyrics and the animation. Asha is singing about all of this magic and whimsy that happens in Rosas, but everything looks so…normal? Like, there’s nothing going on that wouldn’t really happen in a normal kingdom-people milling around somewhat aimlessly, occasional entertainers, a market etc. Nothing matches up with what is being described and the result is this uncanny valley kind of situation.
That's the consequence of giving your music team a few sentences of context with no script or storyboard, and putting a one week deadline on them.
And then also leaving most of the story on the cutting room floor anyway

As a storyboard artist, I couldn't help but notice how the visuals RARELY went along with the lyrics like they would in any good Disney movie, and I think you observing the "the greatest creations are all on display" and asking "where?" Was the first time in the movie when I felt like I knew it was going to suck lol
Same! I’m a fish out of water in this music business, so all I can do is nod along and go with my gut.
But I know lyrics, and I know art, and even the visuals felt really underwhelming during every song. It was really noticeable during “This is the Thanks I Get?” and “Knowing what I know Now”, because the characters’ theatrics seldom matched the subject of each sentence. They had to run all over the place and generate random visuals, but it felt like it was performance instead of an extension of the characters’ mindsets. Very odd.

it wasn't, it was a reuslt of piss poor production issues. you get a similar result with AI cus AI at the end of the day lacks a shit ton of context for whatever you're giving it (no matter what the AI Bros tell you it's not concious enough to understand context or read your vibes), it barely feels doubt.
Julia Michaels was also given absolutely NO CONTEXT to the story for her to write, and she only had a few weeks to write it all. Not to mention as we all saw, a crap tone of good storybeats got scrapped to hell.
So is it no wonder the lyrics sound so bad when all she basically has to work with was "this is this character, she is this, write us a song about her giving a tour, you got a week" and almost jack all? Im serious btw I think in the artbook Julia says soemthing along the lines that all she was told was Asha is a good guy and activist, and in one video interview she talks about how she inly had like a week to do it.

What bothers me so much about this whole song sequence animation-wise, is how eerily empty Rosas is.
There was more life in the city of Atlantis and Triton's great hall and Encanto-village than this sad excuse of a city has. All I see are half empty streets and so much sad, plain stone color everywhere, and I fail to see any magic in that unless you are a engraver or something.
Encanto’s village felt SO MUCH MORE magical than Rosas
I just realized why the cast of Wish weirds me out so much. When you look at the characters in the background of welcome to Rosas they ALL feel like Shrek background characters. Why do they look like that?

Disney keeps using adorkable personality type for their Disney princess characters because it worked so well for Rapunzel, but I think Disney forgot WHY it works for her. She was sheltered in a tower for her entire life. She doesn't know how to interact with people so of course she's awkward, she's never spoken to another human being other than Mother Gothel. That's why this personality type doesn't work for other characters because presumably they've interacted with more than one person before

I actually think that’s a starting point to their problem with these songs. A lot of the vibes and melodies are straight taken from Moana and the style and purpose of many songs are taken from Encanto (most Disney movies start with a world building song yet this one almost copies exactly what Encanto does with their opener). They’re trying to do Lin Manuel without Lin Manuel and it’s like we’ve actually had enough now, we can use different song styles, he is not the end all be all when it comes to music even if I do still enjoy most of his work. They needed a new style for this movie and they did NOT do that.

Anna gets blurred, because although she had limited contact, she still had an entire castle’s worth of staff to be with. Naive? Sure! Awkward? Doesn’t make as much sense as a princess and representative for her country. Never had a tutor for customs and political etiquette? Poor world building if that’s the case. Mirabel? Mmm, she’s also a representative of her family basically ruling over a town. Now we are repeating this personality. Asha? Yeah, now there really is no reason.

The songs had literally nothing to do with what was going on in the movie. The song in the wishes room did not fit anything of what was going on. It didn’t even work metaphorically. “This is The Thanks I Get” is the most decent song in this movie (which is terrible), outside of the three lines Queen Amaya sings in the rebellion song which had all the bite of a geriatric, toothless hamster.
I shit you not, we watched Cats after Wish. Cats at least was enjoyable in an ironic way, Wish was so bad and bland that I couldn’t even find joy in joking about it.

the song in the wishes room was originally a love song from the draft of the plot between the mc and the star boy, the original plot was scrapped but they kept the song and changed a few words to make it "fit" if you hear the demo you clearly see it.

Both in lyrics and in staging. Seriously, just from these clips alone, it looks like a reversal of everything Mirabel did in that song. Mirabel and the family are going forward through the town, where Asha is going backwards, and both are just expositing about there homes/people they live with. It’s literally the same thing just backwards!

The change on “place just as full of surprise” killed me bc, like, it’s the “just as” making it awkward, it’s there to fill space in the meter. You landed on “kingdom” by virtue of having already used “place” and it flows so much better…it’s such a subtle fix and yet it fixes so much

I had a dream tonight that I rewatched Wish and it was good. Not in the sense that it became better in any way; but in the sense that I was wrong all along, that it suddenly clicked, and made sense, and was actually an incredible movie that everyone, including me, hated because they didn't get its genius storytelling.

I actually like that song, especially because of the church I was raised in that deceived me my whole life and knowing what I know now, things are very different. I don’t like the “Wait ‘til they hear our feet go dun, dun, dun, dun, dun” part, but think that song is better than the others. Especially since it feels more like a song than just spitting out words like the verses of This Is the Thanks I Get (which I think Lin Manuel might be to blame for starting the trend of rambling instead of having a melody)

where i do musical theatre, my class (the senior class) had been put with the junior class to do a song from wish. specifically 'im a star' i hadn't heard ANY songs from wish at that point in time, and let me just say how badly i cringed at some of the lyrics. some sounded off, some of the pronunciation just pissed me off, and god help me, ill now have to listen to this song multiple times a week for the rest of the year.

THIS!!!! Heck, even the only song I like from this film, At All Cost (the demo version mostly), has certain lines from the song (mostly Asha's verse) that makes me cringe internally and externally. I literally have to reword the song in my head for me to fully enjoy it. That and also the love story we could have had between Asha and Starboy is what keeps this song good to me. 😢

I’ve never even seen this movie, so the lyrics accompanying visuals that show the most lackluster, stiff, and boring animation is just… wow. Like 5:15 for example. I would personally change it to "No 'what-ifs' or 'I wonders,'" because "and no wonders" makes it sound like nothing wonderful happens.
To be fair, they did hire a songwriter who write pop songs for a living and for some reason they didn't hire theater or musical writers such as Lin Manuel Miranda or Alan Menken. They also had the deadline of only 6 weeks to finalize the songs. I hate the song because it sounded too modernized and pop-ish to the point that they just want to copy Lin Manuel Miranda's style but failed ultimately. Seriously, Wish is such a disaster and unrealistic to be the 100th anniversary of Disney.

One change to the chorus though - I'd swap "no what-if and no wonders" to "no what-ifs and no worries" because of the positive meaning that people associate with the word "wonders". "wonders" is kind of an awkward word to pair with "what-ifs" since "what-ifs" has a negative meaning

This is like the epitome of constructive criticism - being honest without being rude - offering improvements without acting superior. As you say, the goal wasn't to make it a masterpiece - just to make a big difference with a little change. Even still, it sounded like you sang it with heart (and a bit of sarcasm sprinkled in for good measure). Great stuff.

The visuals and lyrics for “the greatest creations” definitely don’t line up. It kind of sounds like Rosas has amazing technology and inventions, but if that was the intention, they should have supported that by showing some sort of technology instead of … butterflies.

I hate how big of a decline Disney had with their music. They went from absolute masterpieces like A Whole New World, Snuff Out The Light ( I know it wasn’t officially in the movie BUT OMG IT SLAPS SO HARD- ), The entire Princess and the Frog soundtrack, and so much more to “Watch out world here I are!”
I think the improper grammar was done on purpose, to emphasize that the character in question was unfamiliar with speaking.

I think an easy fix, if we don’t want to change much of the song, is
“Welcome to Rosas, please come this way”
The “e” can get elongated and make it so she Interacts more with the tour. Also, sounds better than repeating “come on” or spoiling a bit of what this kingdom is all about
the elongated e sounds really weird to me and "a magical place" is vague enough to not count as a spoiler. if you want to be closer to the original, something like "let's go, come this way" would work better than trying to make one syllable into two.
I kinda like the line "welcome to Rosas, come on, come this way", because to my ear it has just the right amount of lyrical percussion with a snappy pacing, that gives it some of that flamenco vibe.
"A magical place" drags a bit awkwardly on the first syllable and it doesn't reflect Asha's excitement and energy quite as well.
Overall I really like the first song, it's all the other songs that are the real stinkers.

I totally get this. A possible edit could be, "Welcome to Rosas, oh here, come this way" or some sort of variant of that to emphasize the quicker pacing rather than stretch out the word. Maybe using two one-syllable words to continue that pattern could help!
This was so satisfying to watch especially since I was let down by hoping for an actually good modern Disney musical. I’d love to see you do the same for “this is the thanks I get”.
