As someone who collects game sountracks to listen to when not playing my games, I don't get how anyone can say video game music isn't music! I have gone on rants about just how some songs really work to enhance the emotion of games (I've a list of songs that just listening to them makes me feel the emotion of the scenes all over again).
Great list!! I remember (back in the day) recording a lot of these tunes using my mom's old VCR lol. just so I could listen to them over and over again.
1st off, how can anyone say video game music isn't real music? Aquatic Ambiance, Stickerbrush Symphony , Snake Eater's theme. Want some from ps1? Aerith's theme, Croc's Smash and See (BTW, can anyone hear In the Garden of Eden in that?), Spyro 's Dark Hallow and One Winged Angel, so glad that's #1. As for Mods, my favorite is the Punisher in Streets of Rage 2. His arcade game was done kinda dirty for the Genesis and am glad it's going to be in the MVC fighting collection soon, along with MVC 2, of course
For top 10 best mods, I would recommend The Legend of Zelda: Master of Time which is a mod of OOT. The puzzles were next level and made you think outside the box, the modder did a great job with the music (including a version of the Maridia theme from Metroid) and there were a lot of easter eggs. A very good playthru and a good challenge for N64 players.
Personal faves not included, legacy of kain soul reaver main theme, soul blade - rock theme or intro theme, wipeout 2097 - any in-house theme , street fighter ex - any theme , worms main theme, star gladiator - zelkin theme, street fighter alpha 2 - sakura theme
Anyone who thinks VGM isn't real music may be a snob, has very limited taste in music, or maybe they've never played any videogames. I have the cds of Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, and F-Zero GX/AX. I put that car cd player to good use.
i feel like either Rival schools (Taiyo rooftoop) or (The School Yard of Taiyo) themes should have been somewhere on here. none the less PSX has soo many cant really be mad
The best PS1 music, most of the spots would be Castlevania (SOTN & Chronicles original and arranged versions) metal gear solid, resident evil 1-3, tony hawk 1-4, SF series, Tekken 3, tomb raider main menu music, only because of their enternece themes the WWF games, I don’t play take turns attacking games like FF or other RPGs, just don’t find that fun at all
Tomba - Village of All Beginnings, one of my favorites.

Glad you gave Lost Painting some love. It is one of my favorites also.
it was difficult to not make that #1

Great list, PS1 had so many fantastic tunes.
One always overlooked is Destruction Derby 2 Track 13 and the into music on DOOM... Both were such great build ups for the intensity ahead!

Wild Arms either the first or 2nd Detonator always gives me goose bumps.
Cool list. I'd have put a Medal of Honor theme on there, composed by a young Michael Giacchino before becoming Hollywood royalty.

Alundra - The Wind That Shook the Earth should be there somewhere

The playstation represented freedom from bleeps and bloops for many composers,
Suprise that soul blade main theme didn't make the list
what music do you use for your intro?
