This is so inspiring for me. This will come in handy for the large family photos I have planned for this weekend (non-wedding). I really would like to know though when you are shooting groups outside, do you always tend to lean towards the natural light rather than add a large modifier and bring some details in the sky. I am seeing a trend when it comes to RUclipsrs. Either they go all out with strobes or they go natural light. I would love to see you address this. The pros and cons of both and what you prefer.
Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, I will always lean towards using natural light if it all possible because I think it’s a better experience for the client and certainly much easier than setting up lights. But if I know it’s not gonna produce a flattering image, my clients will love then it’s off to the lights I go.
Hey Vanessa! Awesome video! Question, how do you avoid people having double chins for group photos? I struggle with this as I’m starting as a upcoming photographer. Thanks a lot in advance!
If I could shoot my group shots with a 200 mm I would. The longer the focal length the more compressed feeling of an image making the people seem closer together and more connected, and if I were using a wider focal length.
Love it. So many helpful one liners. Also lol that you cropped out the 1 groomsman on the right with the enthusiastic arms.
😂
Wow, this is great. I really like "talk to each other'
Thx ☺️

I tell everyone to push their noses and foreheads towards me, but normally I don’t stress about it too much
Great video. Do you use spot metering or matrix?
Spot but technically none since I’m dialing everything in manually
How did you have the strobe aimed with the group in the church?
I usually use a pretty flat lighting, just having the large umbrella right behind me, pointed directly at them
Question! Any reason why you choose 85mm for some of the group shots? Can imagine you shooting instructions across haha

@@VanessaJoyI see interesting take!
