It's that time of year again! We're getting our DIY Halloween season started with this awesome life-sized Mummy project!! We literally wrap Jay's entire body in duct tape and it's not weird at all. Not...one...bit.
Do you have an estimate of approximately how much cheesecloth you ended up using? Very cool, btw.
TIA
We used around 36-38 yards (ish) and cut it down into thinner strips. We also stretched it out good and thin and did multiple layers so you’re mileage may vary a bit. 😃
@@WickedMakers Awesome! Really looking forward to making a few of these. Should really set off my entire scene. Thanks tons for posting!
Could have put red led’s were the eyes are to glo red 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome mummy 😀😀😀
Paramedic Scissors, for the win. Allows you to safely cut off bandages, and what have you, next to the skin. Just sayin'. Also, could cut slit in where the eyes should be and drop in two red LED mini lights. Gauze over them and they're ready to go.
Those are bandage scissors actually.
Great prop! Doing 1 maybe 2 this year. Tip: White duct tape instead of silver. About the same cost as spray paint but saves a step.
Nice!!
That's a great idea!
This kind of duck tape is really sticky and it’s actually for ductwork and it’s a little bit more fibrous and then there’s the cheap duck 🦆 tape. I’m not sure if I do white I think it might be too cheap not be as resilient over time. Did you end up making it with white? 👻
@jodyhakala247 I did but I ended up using a nude colored duck tape and it held up really well. I only use the duck tape brand, I get it from Walmart for about $4. The 3m "duck tape" is terrible and Lowes has the audacity to charge over $5. Happy spook season to you and yours.

It would totally freak me seeing this mummy sitting in my basement storage when it wasn't Halloween 🙈
Right?! Still freaks us out whenever we forget it’s there.
“We turn off the AC while filming” EXCUSE ME WHAT?! As someone from AZ this sounds like a heatstroke waiting to happen lol, thank you guys for doing what you do! This project looks so awesome and when all things are considered, looks pretty damn easy too. That’s what I love about your guys’ channel, everything you make is within the range of the home DIY connoisseur. Happy early Halloween 🎃
6:40 "Touch him."
"Ok, there."
"Touch his hand."
"There. Touched it, ok? I'm done."
😄
Hahah yep
Decided to do the whole thing in one go and didnt cut sections to save time. RIP Grandma. She will make a lovely conversation piece each year. Mum was not too happy about that.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Major cool. I think I might do one with his eyes set to a motion sensor.
Was totally thinking this near the door and speaker to go off when people walked by
That turned out great!!! Might wrap one of my kids this weekend! Awesome tutorial!
This would be a good basis for giant spider victims. If I were to do that, I would make several of them in various shades of light grey, and the arms wrapped in different poses close to the neck and head, and the knees slightly bent for a realistic variety. For a really realistic effect, there’s webbing made with web guns that work like a glue gun that when layered over the mummy would make it look more like webbing.
This is a great project and my son and I had lots of fun and laughs making it. Thank you. I love your projects. One thing i think you should specify is that the cheesecloth should be in one continuous sheet. The one I ordered from Amazon (I picked the one that was Prime) is multiple sheets of it. I think it will still work but the continuous material would have been easier. I suggest that you also specify that the bottom of the feet are plastic wrapped and taped when the mold is being stuffed and taped close. My son and I disagreed about that and we ended up enclosing them but it would have been a lot easier not to. Thanks again!!
Love that you made one! So cool!! 😄 Great tip about the cheesecloth and feet as well.
They showed you on the film about the feet. I didn't get what you where trying to say. They taped and stuffed feet???
@@rhondawheaton8303 i didn't understand it either. Idk what the tip is, since they showed the feet part
As Jaimie approaches his face with the wrap, Jay wonders about clause 173(c) in the life insurance contract...
Hi folks just wanted to say thanks for putting this up. The family and I made our own Mummy following your instructions and it came out awesome.
You work so well together on such fun projects. Makes me wish I had friends like you.
I love rewatching these Halloween videos.
I love Halloween but seeing you guys have fun together makes these videos awesome. Reminds me of me and my husband during Halloween as well.
You can also use coffee with creamer in it to soak the cheesecloth. It smells like it's very old when it dries, and you can also use cotton linen as well.
That turned out wicked awesome! Happy Halloween!!
Thanks man! 👊🏼😄 You too!
Can’t wait to see what else you guys make this year!!!❤
I LOVE this project! So glad I found this channel!
Thanks!! 😀
Awesome, easy build. I really appreciate you putting it out soon enough that it could be done for this Halloween!
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, this one takes a little longer than you might expect but you can still get it done in a weekend.
Best Halloween RUclips channel ever!!!!
thanks so much for the great instructional video. i'm not into halloween but need to make a mummy for our local museum and you've saved the day. impressive!!!
Soo good to see a new video from y’all!
We're back! :)
I don’t know why I’m watching this... it’s very interesting and cool nice job
If it was late at night and i saw that i would have a heart attack
This is such a awesome prop for Halloween.. I’m more of a make it yourself than store bought. I’ve done many but this one is really cool! Thanks 😊
😄😄😄😄
Thank you 😊 for sharing
Halloween at y’alls House i bet is too cool 🎃
This is awesome. I made a miniature version of these once with left over casting material from an Orthopedic clinic. But didn't look as amazing as this!
Thanks! 😄😄
to get a fake mummified flesh look on the fingers you could use paper towls or toilet paper, brown paint and some glue. kinda paint it on and let it dry. itll get a shriveled up flesh texture and look.
Oh heck yeah!! Awesome idea. We’re thinking of making another in more of an action pose so we’ll definitely try this. 🤘🏼🎃
if you use latex paint you can skip any glue.
Very life like well done exactly like the mummy in other great horror flicks
Great idea! Turned out really good 👍
Nicely done & looks great❣️👍
Guys, this is brilliant! New subscriber😄Keep em coming, especially easy ideas
Made this last year based on yours. Turned out awesome!
Y'all do some amazing work! Is this just a hobby for you two or are y'all professional effects builders? I love the creativity and the ease you two give off on these projects and I'm glad I found your channel. I love doing special effects for Halloween it's my favorite holiday
Y'all have given me alot of great ideas for my own Halloween haunts, thanks!
Thank you!! 👋😄 We’re not professional effects builders though we both have past professional experience. We love showing how fun and easy it can be to make some of this stuff. Thanks for watching. 😁
What a fantastic idea looks great

That's awesome work mate.. gonna try that for the halloween this year :)

Awesome idea! Another material you could use to fill the mummy is leaves.
Shhhhh, scary. That's completely Awsome you guys. Thanks for sharing.

Furry here, and furries make a lot of Duct Tape Dummies (DTD) for fursuit makers to use as a body reference. You can probably search up some furry tutorial videos for DTD tips and tricks, but here's a few quick ones from me:
1: Have at least two volunteers, ideally three or four, helping. It greatly speeds things up so the person isn't as uncomfortable for as long. One person just cutting strips of tape for the other two to work with helps a lot.
2: Have a jug of cold water for the suiter to drink from, have the aircon on, ideally a portable fan too. You can get into trouble with overheating really fast doing this, so you need to slow that process as you go.
3: Start from the legs upwards to minimise time spent overheating.
4: Have multiple pairs of scissors on hand, not just one. If they need to cut you out in a hurry you want multiple people working on it.
5: Have something for the suiter to rest their arms on (which are usually spread outward, not tucked into the chest like this) Because they'll get tired very fast when you have to hold them up. A volunteer can be an armrest, even. Or the suiter can stand near a bookshelf and grip that. I've rested my arms on laundry drying racks before.
6: Putting markings along the cutting lines is good so you can match them up later, but including a few numbers on both sides of the cut also helps for even less ambiguity about what goes where.
I wish my husband would help me do this but there's no chance of that happening lol. As soon as I talk someone into letting me "WRAP" them up! I'll be making this. Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate & I've fallen in love with y'alls channel. Thank you for ALL your ideas❤
😄😄😄😄
Looks awesome! I could not imaging being wrapped up in that! Also, have you through about investing in a pair of bandage scissors for future projects like this? You can get them fairly inexpensive, and it has a neat little nub on the pointy bits for less chance of getting cut!
Are you crazy.... If they wanted to play it safe, they would have used a store bought $3 manekin head. Clearly this couple loves to take risks. It came out great.... No... amazing... Thanks for posting.
What a fantastic project. That came out amazing. I will definitely try to figure out how to do it as a solo project as I don't have anyone to help me. Possibly by using a mannequin that I already have but is not weatherproof.
Truly awesome
😄 🙌🙌🙌 😄
OMG, this is a riot!!!!!
I have used plastic grocery bags to stuff forms, too. You can really get them pushed in there to gives good rigidity.
Nice, good call!
Very impressive!!
Awesome great idea
Very cool mummy idea, I never would of thought to use duct tape. Very creative.
I literally have no storage in my apartment, I wonder if my roommates will mind if I keep a life-sized mummy in the hall closet...
AWESOME!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
Thank you!!!!! 😄😄😄
WOW!!! That is AWESOME!!!! =)
Pretty neat idea!
Thanks! 😄
This is amazing guys! Just seen it on instagram
Thank you!!! 🙌🙌🙌
just remember to store in a non critter Area. our cousin left his bullwinkle moose head mask (made out of chicken wire and cardboard and 3 roll of masking tape) in his garage after halloween. a bird move in and build nest in the nose. with all that paper mouse city could pop up with 20-30 residents.
Great idea
Me and my kids will definitely b trying this one
It’s super fun!!! 😄
soo cool that's amazing
like this a lot!
Wow i just found your videos i really love them much love from England
Thanks!! 👊🏼😄
Amazing!
Thanks!! 👋😄
Love This TY
Thanks for watching!
"COIN, COIN, COIN" 👍👍👍
🤣 Yes!!!
You are amazing 😍😍😍
Cool Mummy.
I really want to make this it’s awesome
Thanks for the tips! And I remember (well, not me) wrapping up as active duty military around the weight standard test to lose water weight, lol
Really cool
awesome 😀
Fun!!
🤘🏼🎃 Glad to hear!
That's really cool. you could also put glowing red eyes and a skull inside with the teeth showing. also I kind of hope that you would make a mermaid tail someday with the same method.
Love it! I'd paint the skeleton hands to look aged and ancient, like a yellowed, dusty color. Would look awesome if you had a sarcophagus for it to rest in! Maybe if it opened when someone approached... then raised it's arms out and moaned!
❤❤❤ Thank you vers much for the tutorial, I Will make it for this halloween 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Bravo !
I made a foam coffin for mine and painted it too look real.
Well done.
Thanks!
Awesome
Awesome mummy
Great mummy
I'm going to make one today
Nice!
All fun and games until that mummy comes to life and starts coming at you.
ok it's official, im throwing a halloween birthday party next month. i already sent out the "save the dates" 😇
Nice, but might have wanted to wrap the legs individually. Together is probably more true to life but separate gives the impression that the mummy may awaken and chase you throughout the tomb.
Should wrap Jaimie next so Mummy has a Wifey
