Wiki: "The song is about an informant during the Troubles, and the lyrics suggest a state of paranoia and mental disintegration. It is named after English actor Michael Caine and includes his vocal samples, recorded specifically for this song. The song's hook, a repetition of Caine introducing himself by name, recalls his role in the spy film The Ipcress File (1965), in which his character, Harry Palmer, repeats his name while trying to stay sane under torture." Sophisti-pop ...
One of the most iconic British actors around. He was terrific in the original Get Carter movie & been good in several others (The Muppet Christmas Carol probably my favourite 😁). He's been in some right old pony as well though ...
Michael Caine was Alfred in Batman the Dark Knight etc. Distinctive voice, which many UK men of an age try to do an impression of. Been in great films like The Italian job, Alfie and Harry Brown. Chilled madness is the type of madness I want 😂
I reckon this song plays on the Harry Palmer character Michael Caine played in spy films. A very successful cockney is Michael Caine. His first leading role was in Zulu and he played a toff. Still he looked and played the part well.
Kermit T Frog said Caine gave him some very good acting advice: "Never blink." He says it to humans, as part of his advice for filming closeups, in his *excellent* Acting In Film masterclass: ruclips.net/video/bZPLVDwEr7Y/видео.htmlsi=gsLDLMe5uMWrSE5u
If you want a couple more madness songs, In the middle of the night and bed and breakfast man are bangers!
It's Madness all on the sunny side of 30....Michael Caine's daughter was a Madness fan and got her Dad to record his line specially for the song.

"I have never seen [bad film], but I'm assured it's awful. However, I have seen the house it paid for, and it is fantastic."
@@timg5011 😁
Michael Caine is a renowned British actor who is worthy of radio play, too. A wonderful tune from the 80s. Cheers 🥂
Also something of a workaholic - so his face was / is very well known.

And "Get Carter" and "Zulu".
Bice to hear Chas singing for a change. ❤

Recommended Michael Caine films, in sort-of chronological order:
1960s: Zulu, Alfie.
1970s: Get Carter, Educating Rita.
1990s: Muppets' Christmas Carol.
2000s: Harry Brown.
Michael Caine is a very famous actor!!! 😂
Americans will know Michael Caine as Alfred in Batman ..The Dark Knight Rises.
Is his hat bad? Maybe put mica and exopy glue etc on it.

One of my fave Madness tracks. One of the few that Suggs doesn’t sing on. Michael Caine is a movie star.
I never knew it wasn't suggs on this song, I'm sat here watching the video like "that ain't suggs" thanks for the confirmation.
To me that song is about a stalker or paparazzi stalking a celebrity who is struggling with that celebrity.
@Nooneneedsthis I can interpret it incorrectly if I like. ;-)
Maybe look into supersinger Anisette/The Savage Rose.
Formed in 60s.
A girl I knew..... .a video.
Created Dødens Triumf. Famous in Denmark etc.
Wrong video
