@@steviewonder1653 I've seen a couple of ways of un modding the Wii but haven't tried them out yet. I'm reluctant to suggest one until I've tested it. Some seem to just delete the homebrew channel which will probably leave the hacks in place, just hidden. Some do a complete system format (it's an option in the Wii settings) but I'm not sure how safe that is. I guess this last option is probably the way to go but please do find out if it is safe first. Hope this helps.
When I try to open Nintendont, it says “No FAT Device Found” and goes back to the Homebrew Menu. Im using an MicroSD Card with an SD Adapter, formatted to FAT32 MBR, used GCBM to correctly format all the games and the files are in the right places. The only thing thats different from your tutorial is that I have .ciso games instead of regular .iso. The Wii games work perfectly fine and run with no problems. USB Loader GX recognizes both Wii games and GameCube games as well. I try to launch a GameCube game and it redirects me to Nintendont and the same error pops up, “No FAT Device Found”. Your tutorials and videos have helped me a lot, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Do the games show up in Nontendont. Start by getting the games to run directly from there. Once you get that end sorted out USBLoader should then be able to ask Nintendont to run the games.
Cool video! Small correction, at around 7min you say the process will cause u to lose your games and usbloader config, this isn't true. Edit: another correction, apps saved to fat32 usb can also be accessed via the hbc, just press 1 to switch between sd and usb if you have both connected This is XFlak, the author of ModMii btw. I skimmed through the video and it helped me spot a minor "bug", in your scenario gamecube backup manager should have also been saved to copy to usb, not copy to SD. I'll correct it in my next update. Personally I prefer the local setting so program files get saved where modmii is instead of either of the copy to folders. The default setting is auto, where it saved program files locally if running modmii from your c drive, otherwise it will save portably to the copy to folders.
Thanks for the info! And thanks for the great package. A few people have asked about saving apps to SD and USB. I wasn't aware of the ability to swap. I've got a couple more videos to do on the Wii so will get this info out in those. Keep up the great work.
Hey XFlak, currently when Modwii tries downloading everything it always fails to download the NKit Processing App. When I watch the download log I see "Error: cannot find archive". I don't know if this is a new thing or just me. I've allowed ModMii.exe in windows firewall but no change. Thoughts?
I can never seem to get any of these YAWM variants to work. They always claim that they can't find the region of my system, and throw up error messages when I select the SD Card Slot. For those reasons, I use Multi Mod Manager. Still, it must be said, this is a fantastic tutorial. Clear and concise, the way I like 'em.
Sounds familiar... But it is not 'yesterday' as in: the day before you actually performed the hack on the Wii, but 'yesterday' as in 'the day before you assembled and created your modware'. Which in our case was several days before we did the actual hack. So we had to scroll back in time a week or so. Well, maybe stating the obvious here...
I got a copy to SD folder but there was also a program files folder. What do I do with that? And in the copy to SD folder there's WBFS so what should I do with that too? And should I just put what's in the copy to SD folder into my SD and just leave it or put the program files folder into the copy to SD folder
The program files folder just contains a couple of helper apps to copy your Wii and GameCube games onto your USB or Sd card. These don't need to be copies to your usb or sd card that you plub into the Wii (doesn't matter if you do copy them over). All the other files and folders in the copy_to_sd and usb folders need to be copied to the respective devices, including any empty folders such as the WBFS one.
Thank you so much for this! I just carefully followed through each step you showed and was able to homebrew my Wii pretty straight forward. I had one little scare at the point where I open up the HackMii from the SD card where it went to a black screen with the light on around the disc drive, and the power button wouldn’t shut off my Wii. I unplugged the Wii, took the SD card out, unplugged my hard drive, and then put it all back in. The Wii booted up just fine and it worked the 2nd time around so I’m not quite sure what happened there.
Thanks for your support. Sometimes the hack process does fail but you did the right thing and just tried again. Glad to see you got it working. Have fun with the games.
Hi there, I used this video to Homebrew my Wii and for some reason whenever I power on the Wii it automatically launches with Bootmii. Is there any way I can change this to the standard menu? I appreciate your tutorials!

Hi, thank you for these very useful tutorials. I just bought a secondhand Wii console and thought of soft modding it. I have a question regarding Modmii. Does it requires installation and setting up of the cIOS system as you mentioned in the other guide. Thanks once again.
ModMii does it all for you. The section where you use YAWM to install the 44 WADs is where it installs all the cIOSes. It really is a full softmodding tool.
I believe I've followed the steps correctly but when i tried to down the download the files from Modmii it says "42 of 56 files are invalid, missing or were not updated properly"

Great video going to Homebrew and modmii my wii...If it gos wrong can i do a factory restart start again...+ will a SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I memory card 128 GB work...thks
The chances of it going wrong are very slim. If something fails in the installation just restart the process and it will overwrite the bits that are there. Make sure you go through the NAND backup process. This will let you restore the Wii if you brick it at a later date. But you'd need to be doing some deeper hacking for that to happen. Just playing games is not a risk. A factory reset won't remove the hack so that backup is important.

Yes. Most of them have a channel wad or installer you can download. I made a video using the SNES emulator as an example. ruclips.net/video/WMG7PsVvD9Q/видео.html. Have a look through the list detailed in that video. A lot of the download packages come with a channel installer. Hope this helps.

Make sure you've got the cIOS files in the right folder. I think it looks for a WAD folder on the SD card. If the files haven't been put in there it won't find them. If YAWM simply refuses to work try downloading it again in case the files on the SD card have gone wrong.
I tried this yesterday. The modmi prog runs fine. I coould get my files and put them on my SD card and the wii reported it copied my 'saved game' in batman lego. But whenver going to wayne manor and choosing the lowest right hand valid character, it reports 'no code to load 'and hangs. I tried every SD card I could find. Still no go. I should have an older standard 2Gig SD card coming in the post incase it is that which is the problem. Hopefully that works else thats that as my wii was bought second hand and has corrupt settings (so no internet or MAC address ) . The SD card requirement would seem to be very fussy on wii consols.

You probably need to try a different hack method. If you can get Internet access on your Wii try the str2hax exploit. I did make a video on this one as well - ruclips.net/video/rAMRmBEkdg0/видео.html, but try to do it through the ModMii route as that installs a better set of cIOS updates.
Im using a USB and the Gamecube games are working on Nintendont, but the Wii games just go to a black screen and my Wii-mote turns off. Then i have to restart the Wii, but it wont restart unless I remove the USB first
Strange one. Check you've got the files and folders correct for the Wii games. Try deleting the wbfs folder and rebuilding it. Make sure you check the Wii guide for help as well.
Sadly I just completed this and went to download some games. All the games have basically been wiped from vimms catalog and now I can’t play anything 😢
Yes. Nintendo, Sony and a few others have been threatening legal action against the major rom sites so they've had to take down a lot of games to avoid massive penalties. It's getting harder to find quality download sites. Try the Internet Archive as it has a get out of jail free card at the moment for archived roms.
I don't know why it won't let you select the hack. From the channel page can you go back to it? It might be that for your setup there's only one option - although I don't think that's the case. When you get to the end there should be a summary, plus the guide it downloads for you should show you what exploits it thinks you're going to use.
@@BytesNBits I managed to get my wii homebrewed working without that screen. All the guides I saw had the screen but 7.02 portable and installed and v7 never showed it.
Check your Internet connection is still OK - do not allow it to run an update!!! If it still doesn't work you can delete the USBLoaderGX app files installed by ModMii and go through the manual installation process. Same goes for Nintendont. If you want to change the Wii menu launcher remove the channel installed by ModMii through the Wii Settings page. Hope this helps.
@@BytesNBits because how it seems I have it set up with the Wii back up manager and the gamecube one, they are saved to either or storage device, is there a way I can eliminate the usb after set up? How do I move the Wii games folder to the SD ? And also after everything, do I need both storage devices plugged in to make the Wii continue to work?
I did this using a hitachi 256GB hard drive every single thing works besides the games. I used Wiiback up manager and the games play on my dolphin emulator on my pc. The games come up and open the first screen and then freeze. I tried to D2X cios but the installer in homebrew only loads to 87% and then freezes. Any help would be appreciated
The Wii might be having compatibility issues with the hard drive. Try saving a few games to a usb stick and giving that a go. If it works you'll know it's not the homebrew setup. If it still doesn't work you might try re installing homebrew and the cIOSes. ModMii is good at cleaning up any file corruption etc.
When i try to open usb loader, it just shows a blank screen. i have formatted my usb and installed everything again but it still gives me a blank page. At first when i installed usb loader i could go to the homescreen but not play the game, thats when i used d2x cios installer, since then everything i try gives me the same blank usb loader page and after that the usb loader files are deleted from my usb. Does anyone know a solution?
If you set the original menu as your default you can just use it as a standard Wii. Otherwise you'll need to use Priiloader to get into BootMii and then reflash your original NAND data. Hopefully you made a backup of this when you first modded the system.
Mate can you please make one video just explaining Everything cause now i have done everything here succesfully but i do not know hpw to fix the games, what do i have to do. This shit is complicated.
It's really a matter of following through each step carefully. Make sure you create the right folders and copy the right files to the right drives. Follow each of the steps in sequence and make sure each stage works before moving on to the next.

If you have a old wii like me it could be dusty. I thought my sd card reader was broken turns out i was wrong the only thing i did was clean the sd card slot with a anti dustspray and i checked the slot and it got recognised. SO IT WORKS NO WORRIES
Great to hear you got it going. Have fun with the games.
I used modd mii every thing works beside usb loader gx it freezes on “ reinitializing devices “ everytime any suggestions ? Thanks man
Try deleting the USBLoader foler from the apps folder and following this video to re install it - ruclips.net/video/8RdwHT3C16E/видео.html
do you need BOTH the usb and the SD card or only the sd card?
You need the sd card for BootMii to make its backups. But other than that you can just use either SD or USB.
When i open letter bomb my wii stays on but I lose video signal any tips?
You probably need to try a different hack method. If you can get Internet access on your Wii try the str2hax exploit. I did make a video on this one as well - ruclips.net/video/rAMRmBEkdg0/видео.html, but try to do it through the ModMii route as that installs a better set of cIOS updates.
i only got 2 folders on the copy to usb file. im missing rogram files is this bad
I think the program files folder just has the pc apps such as backup manager. It's not needed on the SD card
Try the Internet Archive as it has a get out of jail free card at the moment for archived roms.
on 7.0.2 and after selecting my console 4.2e i dont go to a "select exploit page" it goes straight to "install other channel page" any ideas why?
I don't know why it won't let you select the hack. From the channel page can you go back to it? It might be that for your setup there's only one option - although I don't think that's the case. When you get to the end there should be a summary, plus the guide it downloads for you should show you what exploits it thinks you're going to use.
@@BytesNBits I managed to get my wii homebrewed working without that screen. All the guides I saw had the screen but 7.02 portable and installed and v7 never showed it.
Does your Wii need Internet access ?
My message wasn't showing up, once I set the time and date on the console I found the message right away. For anyone with same issue
Thanks for the tip
Having a issuse where i got onto Homebrew, and the yawm and nintendont dont appear
Check you've got the application files in the correct folder. It looks like Homebrew can't find them.
@BytesNBits my issue was that they never got installed in general so I just manually went in and downloaded them off of the mod mii pc application
It's not allowing me to add covers like before. Any tips?
Check your Internet connection is still OK - do not allow it to run an update!!!
If it still doesn't work you can delete the USBLoaderGX app files installed by ModMii and go through the manual installation process. Same goes for Nintendont. If you want to change the Wii menu launcher remove the channel installed by ModMii through the Wii Settings page. Hope this helps.
so i can only play gamecube games from an sd? or can i play wii games from there too?
You can play any of the games from SD card. I used a USB drive to add more storage space but it's not necessary.
@@BytesNBits does modwii come with D2X cios application ?
I believe it is separate
When i try to open usb loader, it just shows a blank screen. i have formatted my usb and installed everything again but it still gives me a blank page. At first when i installed usb loader i could go to the homescreen but not play the game, thats when i used d2x cios installer, since then everything i try gives me the same blank usb loader page and after that the usb loader files are deleted from my usb. Does anyone know a solution?
try reinstalling the cIOS files and then USB Loader. It sounds like something isn't set up correctly.
Do you know of any other free formatting tools?
Try Rufus.
How can i re-virganize my modded wii?
I’ll be trying this
Definitely give it a go.
I love hacking Nintendo consoles, this video will be so helpful
Have fun!
i have set these up but only on my sd card not my hard drive , so should i repeat all these sterps to use the hard drive ?
You only need to set up the game files on the hard drive. You can keep the Sd card as it is to run the homebrew apps.
@@BytesNBits what if i face the problem that usb device is not initialized how can i fix it ?
@@ahmedtarek-ul1yj Check that you've formatted the drive correctly and that it's in the correct USB port (see the video). If that fails try a different USB stick to make sure your USB port is working.
