Recipe
Yield: About 6 dozen
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Ingredients
5 Tbsp (75 g) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup (130 g) icing sugar, sifted
3 large egg whites
1 tsp (10 mL) vanilla extract
2/3 cup (100 g) all-purpose flour (plain flour)
1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Line 2 baking trays with parchment paper. Draw 2 sets of parallel lines with a 2 ½ inch (65 mm) space between the lines of each set - this will help to pipe cookies of a precise length. Flip the parchment over so that the marker lines are on the underside.
2. Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or with electric beaters, beat the butter and icing sugar until smooth. Whisk the egg whites to loosen and add half of them with the vanilla, beating well and scraping down the sides of the bowl (do not worry if the batter doesn’t look smooth at this point. Add half of the flour and beat in, again scraping the bowl well. Add the remaining egg whites, beat well and then finish by adding the remaining flour and beating until smooth.
3. Spoon the batter into a large piping bag fitted with a medium plain tip, #12. Pipe lengths of batter between the sets of parallel lines, leaving 2 inches (50 mm) between each cookie (you will have to bake the cookies in batches). Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes until they brown at the edges. Lift the entire sheet of parchment from the tray to cool for a minute, then lift the cookies off of the paper to cool completely. Repeat until all of the batter has been piped.
The cookies will keep up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.

In indonesia we also have this kind of cookies called 'Lidah Kucing', literally also means Cat's Tongue. Commonly served in celebration day
In the Philippines we call it Lengua de Gato...meaning cat's tongue.
Same in my country, we called it Lidah kucing
In bulgarian the name translates as cat's tongue as well
My family call it katte tong. I believe it's Dutch for cat's tongue too.
In the Philippines, this is called Lengua De Gato. Ms. Olson, if you ever visit the Philippines again, you'll definitely find these cookies at Baguio City (Philippines' Summer Capital). I am definitely a super fan of you. Your superb professionalism as a baker is what makes me coming back to your baking videos. Your kitchen is every baker's dream. You are also organized when it comes to baking and cooking. More power to you and your RUclips channel.
We also called it Lengua De Gato in the Philippines. In English, it's called Cat's Tongue and it's one of my favorite kind of cookies!!
I was about to sa the same thing. They are my favorite pasalubong.❤❤❤
Langues de chat (Fr) and Lengua de Gato (Sp) both means Cat's tongue

nice recepe
may b you have this kind of cookies for gluten-free, please?
Wow nice
If you use gluten free flour, any tips? Is there a certain baking flour mix or if using just plain GF flour, do you add xanthum gum?
Wow,yummy👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
Awesome 👍🤩👌💞💕🥰😋
(I'm French) I was like: why yt translate only the name of the cakes? And, I realized it was a French name. 😐
So yum mi
Anna are these same as Milano cookies ? and also how can we flavour them with lemon , how much lemon juice or lemon zest should be added to the same recipe to make it really nice and lemony
Try zest of one large lemon and one teaspoon lemon extract.
Looks like a Milano cookie.
What degree to bake?
Good morning
good👍🔔
COOL
I try to make but mine was too runny. Is tasty though.
How much flour total
this method is more efficient than using a langues de chat pan
I've tasted similar cookies with a chocolate filling. Would it be possible to fill this with chocolate?
Usually, after the batter is done, we take a quarter of it and add chocolate paste in it.
Put the white batter first into the plastic bag. Using a bigger size tip, pipe the batter on the tray.
After that, put the chocolate batter into plastic bag. Using smaller size tip (usually the one you use to fill pastry cream into choux), make zig-zag line with the chocolate batter ON the white batter. Then, bake it as usual.
You will find the white cookie with fancy zig zag line upon it.

Lo quiero en español
in ph they called it lengua de gato
isn't quantity of sugar more for the batter 1 cup sugar for 2/3 cup flour
I just like to stare at her kitchen... those drawers!
lengua de gato 😍🇵🇭
Podrían poner en español?
Langues de chat sounds more refined than lengua de suegra (mother in law's tongue). That's the name in some Spanish speaking countries!
Hi mam
Lidah kucing 😁
Nosotros decimos lengua de gato 🐱
In India also we have this..but am.not sure of its name
egg drop cookie.. and they are shaped into small drops..
Ha. It’s Indonesian cookies
I tried it... made a mess in the kitchen and a failure with the cookies 😢
That is not 5 tablespoons of butter. I followed the instructions and had powder sugar and butter dust. I added 4 more tablespoons of butter to get the consistency seen in the videa
I have a cat so I have a joke. Do I cut my cats tongue of 😂.
I was surprised by your recipe, you used unsalted butter and you forgot about salt. For me a little bit of salt will make your cookies more tastier. So how many tsp of salt are you gonna put to the dough if ever you are going to add salt. Thanks.
Lengua de gato
Piping langue de chat is difficult and you need more practices they are not perfect
At first I thought they were on a bbq grill when I glanced at the thumbnail
