We cannot afford to be complacent regarding China. They have just changed tactics. Now they will try from north east. It is too much of a coincidence that they agree to withdraw just as a coup takes place in Myanmar.
Sir study the history of the USA and China. Who had more wars? In the history of USA they had 5 years out of 245 years. Why is China becoming number 1? Because they mind their own business.! We have the world's finest warriors in our army, navy and air force; we just need to equip them. For example, we were 60,000 ATGMs short when this conflict began. That's insane.
I would imagine that a man portable ATGM in the mountains would be something that the troops would relish. But we are 60,000 (SIXTY THOUSAND) ATGMs short 😳
We need to equip our forces. We need to double our defence budget. That's all. Nobody would dare mess around then.

Few things:
The "hot" standof is in Ladakh, not our Eastern border.
The ATGMs that I'm talking about are MAN PORTABLE: it's a "little bit of artillery" that our infantry soldiers can carry around; served by a crew of 2.
If it can take out a tank, it can take out a bunker and lots of other things -- it's called anti-tank to give one an idea of its destructive power, but you can use it against anything 😊
Important: the Carl Gustav "recoil-less rifles" (like the "bazooka" of world war 2) that our special forces units carry, have a range of about 400 metres. The Milan ATGM has a range of about 2 km.
Now for the important part. We have been manufacturing the Milan, under license here in India, for decades. Why then are we 60,000 ATGMs short of what should be there in our inventory? There's no excuse! I repeat -- we have been manufacturing the Milan, under license here in India, for decades.
My overall point is always about ensuring that our fantastic soldiers (sailors, aviators) have the tools required to do the job with utmost efficiency -- and for me efficiency means saving the lives of our bravehearts -- as far as I'm concerned, even one life lost is one too many.
And northeast or northwest doesn't matter -- it's the ability of a pair of infantry soldiers to blast to smithereens, a target from 2 km away, instead of having 20 soldiers creeping up on the same target to get within rifle range, and then firing away... and charging... and throwing grenades, etc.
PS Soon after I posted my comment, the government placed an order for around 5,000 Milan ATGMs. That's a coincidence for sure, but I think it's proof that they're very much needed 😊

For me, it comes down to this: EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS JOINED OUR MILITARY, HAS, IN EFFECT, VOLUNTEERED TO DIE FOR YOU AND ME.
So, I feel that the least that we can do is make enough noise to make sure that they are equipped properly.
Our great military people have so much josh that they will fight with bayonet and bare hands if need be... and their mindset is such that they don't complain if they don't get the equipment that they ask for -- so I feel that it's us civilians who have to stand up for our soldiers, sailors, aviators, where equipping them is concerned.
I am passionate about our military, and I feel like crying when I see the APATHY from the establishment regarding arming the military properly 😢
In fact, I had decided to stop following defence, because it was getting too frustrating and too painful 😔, but then I remember that, by putting on the uniform, they have, in effect, volunteered to die for us, and they bleed everyday, and lose limb and even life.... and all I have to do is write.... and so I continue.

@Avi Tee You think a person who calls himself "Arthur Rodrigues" is a real Indian? Tanks cannot traverse mountains without being easy prey for ATGM's... that's why NOBODY sends tanks into mountains!! You send 500 Chinese tanks against 500 Indian infantry armed with ATGM's under cover or foliage, you will have 500 destroyed hulls and 1500 dead Chinese!! That's why the Nazi's never invaded Switzerland. The Himalayas protect us from China. They are slowly building roads into the Himalaya's but these will always be winding roads that a tank cannot get over 20mph, so will be blown up.

Mountain ware is difficult. Mostly requires artillery and army personnel. Had if India China war been on plains . Then the war would be more artillery,missiles and air combat trying to destroy targets rather then a man to man combat with a gun.

Thanks Major Arya but please don't underestimate technology use in modern warfare. China is advancing and Indians although very capable are lagging behind, just coding for the silicon Valley companies. For eg, what if Chinese have super light oxygen tanks, better night vision, better warm clothes and survival equipment than the Indian army because of lack of funds?? Please do not underestimate
All things u mentioned are not very expensive, can be procured by indian armed forces, India is not a beggar with empty pockets...we can equip ourselves equally well

PLA motive is for India to still invest in the Indian Army and ignore the Indian navy expansion which is really important. But the issue is that we have cash crunch and in such a miserable state that we just ease ourself by comparing us to Pakistan. Our biggest enemy is us, our system, our lack of bringing accountability, our education, our mindset and our lack of accepting reforms

Fact: Man for man, PLA is no match for Indian Army in the mountains, because the men of the Indian Army are tougher, more resilient and and more experienced in mountain warfare than the boys of the PLA.High on hubris the PLA came,they saw and faced with reality, they retreated. Why did they come? Who knows?What did they achieve? Sweet fanny all.Did they save face? They know.In a short war in the mountains the Indian Army will come out on top.Maj Arya represents the thinking of the Indian Army at the tactical level, reinforced by its recent experience with PLA.
India needs to use diplomacy to counter the industrial and economic strength of China and to make good use of the current anti-China sentiment prevailing world-wide in a possible long term war which could occur.This is prudence not reliance.

The biggest thing is that the soldiers in PLA fight for the communist party. Indian soldiers fight for the motherland. The difference is huge in morale.
I think this is over simplification of the situation with largely a biased and self assumed nature of the Chinese. They are creeping into our border, they have strangled our ports and are rolling out ships the size of French navy every year. They are not asking for negotiating the borders, instead they are well entrenched with better infrastructure. They are here for a longer game.
Some amount of nationalism, self-belief, confidence in your abilities is good and necessary. But this kind of bombast reminds me of the Pakistan army. Let's be prepared, but never ever underestimate the adversary.

Wait...India is so weak that they can't even invade Pakistan in 2019 Balakot airstrike. IAF's MiG 21 were shot down instead and wing commander Abhinathan were captured. In the skirmish, 6 IAF personnel inside a helicopter were perished from IAF's own missile. In the aftermath Abhinathan successfully brought down a few trees in Pakistan which he thought were terrorists. India can't even properly maintain a Russian helicopter that killed Bipin Rawat.

I recommend engaging in joint military exercises with US, French (maybe Japanese too?) in the pradesh as well as Nicobar Islands. Maybe engage is similar operations in French Alps or Alaskan mountains.
The Major has no idea what the hell he is talking about. A conflict in Ladakh and Tawang will not be fought in the mountains. It will involve battles to anihilate each other's forward bases and supply routes. Any soldiers remaining in the mountains can then be slowly mopped up as their supplies gradually run out.

Do some reading on 1967 sikkim incursion attempt. We showed them their place. And with all their Kung fu and martial art background they still saw the ferocity of hand to hand combat from the Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley. This is a battle hardened army, not just one doing parade and drills like the PLA.

After listening to Major Arya's analysis, I truly feel that our motherland's terrain was designed in a manner that would benefit us.
Indian soldiers who are well-trained in mountain warfare would have realised that they will always win the war in the mountains because when they have exhausted their strength and skills (which obviously will take a very long time, I strongly believe) in pushing the enemy back, the terrain itself will side with the Indian Army, proving to be a barrier against the advancing Chinese enemy. Only a soldier truly knows the value of his motherland and will die trying to protect it, and when he does, the motherland herself will protect her protectors. We are truly fortunate to be born in India, and will die trying to protect her.
Sadly our news channels don't invite such genius people on their show.

Here are my concerns. When and if China attacks India, first there will be swarms of drone attacks, followed by massive aerial bombardment squadrons of planes and then would come heavy artillery fire and hundreds of tanks will roll in with massive infantry. Simultaneously it will,use all,sorts of electronic or cyber warfare. In other words it will stun India with its ferocity in a blitzkrieg. It will chose the point of attack in India's weakly defended areas and overwhelm. Gaurav is India prepared for this adventure? I am aware in a battle conceding land initially means nothing though.if not Gaurav can some one with military mind answer my concerns.

Who cares what you choose to believe. Facts are facts. In that part of India there was no war or hostilities, the helicopter was travelling in peace time. The terrain was not difficult, just routine. The weather was fine. There is no record that the Pilot was incompetent ( I don’t know which armed forces would allow incompetent or inexperienced Pilot to fly its Top Commander)….Unless there was internal sabotage ( from jealousies from fellow officers but no such thing)….the only conclusion can only be negligence and shoddy maintenance coming from a culture of “apathy”. Truth hurts!

War in Ukriane proves Russia weapons have many shortcomings. Indian military hardware are mostly of Russian origin. A real war will be very different from that of stick fighting.
