Pretty cool Jax! That old pump is fairly bullet proof, all metal/brass internals. I work in the swimming pool industry and have dealt with these great big pumps many times. I can help you with the seals, gaskets, etc inside that pump, why you shouldn’t run them dry, how to keep them tip top. That’s a great deal for some irrigation!!
If you'll install a check valve on the suction side of the small pump it won't lose its prime. That old pump looks like it's ready to go, good luck with the project 👍👍
Oh man! Some 20 years ago I was a trainee plant supervisor for an LPG filling depot and we had an old truck engine with a similar setup like this to run the deluge system on a 30k litre water tank. It was my weekly job to test and inspect the system was working properly and it was the first real job of responsibility I had. Good times with good memories and a lot of stuff learnt! Loved this short video 😊👍
I live near hunters truck service in western PA. They have the largest amount of old international parts in the world. There’s a farmer here recently past that has largest collection of Detroit engines and parts I’ve ever seen. His family is selling stuff off. And just like hunters it’s loaded withNOS parts.
We had a big cat for the turf fields that would run pretty much round the clock 24/7 during the summer about 300ft away from my parents house and as a kid my window ( open all summer because we couldn't afford ac ) the sound of that motor bothered my brother and sister but I loved it the steady noise would help put me right to sleep . Simpler days
Excellent get, for the project. After fighting those portable centrifugal pumps, I did find the secret sauce: Pour prime water, then elevate and hold the first 3-4 feet, before engaging/starting the pump Air escapes, water stays, until system becomes fully charged
Still want a video of Rooster using the remote control lawn mower. I’m glad that pump fired right up for you guys.
Gas in the yellow container and diesel in the red container. Teach Jax that is wrong.
Nice pump.
Wrong to who?!
I might need to come north and do some dirt work and fabrication!

Jax, looks like that thing could be a good old unit👍👍👍
I'm betting on Old Rooster to make it happen. And he did.
I'd say you've got yourself a damn good engine to run that pump!!!!
Given your mechanical skills, unless it completely blows up, it looks like a good unit!
In this world, it’s always nice to deal with strangers that trust you.
Flying over you in a few weeks to go visit The Son in Missoula.
Those 400 series have a flat place on the block just back from the injection pump with the engine size stamped in it.
That's a cool old pump iam thinking diesel brothers should be on a video digging your resavor out lol
Looks like a fun project!!
