    Dude. How the hell do you only have 3.7k subs? It's criminal considering the quality here! 👍
    I feel like I'm sat in a pub with a cold one listening to a mate chat about Rebirth and trying to make sense of it all. Keep it up!
    (EDIT)
    Zack is actually pretty great to play as once you master his quick charge ability. He's a total "glass canon" though I'll give you that, but High Braver hits like a train

    It may have been a nightmare to edit, but well worth the time and effort I think. Fantastic vid. I watched a lot of theory videos in the month or two after launch but I think your analysis and explanation of the multiple worlds thing is probably the best I've seen so far.

    I wanted to come back to defend Zack’s combat. Zack is a freaking monster in combat and once you get his rhythm going, he’s a one man show. It sucks that the game don’t give you enough time with him but I learned how to unlock his potential when completing his hard mode combat sim with cloud

    The scene where Aerith goes "There I go putting my foot in my mouth. When will I ever learn?" I assume is callback scene to scene where you meet Lifestream Aerith in Remake. She tells Cloud not to fall in love with her, and he end up doing so. And now when she tells him not to look up, he ends up doing so again.

    My notes/feedback
    @ 11:21 I interpreted the Stall Owner feeling more chipper at the sight of this couple selecting jewelry; act of kindness or closeness. He might be missing folks acting in a loving or caring matter, it’s the near end of the world so my guess is not all the patrons who shop are in a good mood. Aerith in particular really pushes this idea she's enjoying herself so I’m assuming this NPC is drawn toward that.
    @33:59 I interpreted this scene as a future outcome. It’s that trope, if I show you your future you’ll may try to escape it but it occurs anyway.. much like Anakin Skywalker and his dream in the Star Wars film prequels. I might be wrong, like your idea it’s a new world, that’s a good possibility.
    @ 47:50 I agree 100%, Cloud sees simultaneously the world where he saved Aerith and the world where Aerith meet her fate like in the original 1997 game.

    I was looking forward to this one. I've noticed one or two subtle things. When picking out your gifts on the date, we find the choices are fixed. We get the little yellow flower pendant (the same flowers that Aerith says we have to follow). Then we get those little plant candies. I did not pick up on the green and purple representing pure and corrupt lifestream. Nice find. With that in mind, the black and light blue ones might also represent Sephiroth and corrupting water, and Aerith with the healing water.
    Here is another piece that I did notice. These candies look like Gysahl Greens, chocobo food. Through out the story we get little snippets of white/black lifestream/feather lore. But the only feathers that Cloud's friends compare him to are chocobo feathers. The series mascot, the lovable birds whose feathers are the same color of the flowers we are told to follow. Do they look like Gysahl Greens to you, or am I just pulling at feathers? lol
    Congratulations on completing an analysis of all the chapters! Thank being said, what's next, boss?

    the jenova dreamweaver and lifeclinger line you said may have been a throwaway line for you, but it really is approaching my theory for part 3 which will be a big part of the plot for part 3 like the dream worlds was for rebirth. i dont want to spoil by saying it my self but im secretly hoping you guys come to the same conclusion that way i dont feel guilty spoiling a major plot twist again.

    • @Sector6UK
      @Sector6UK  Месяц назад

      I definitely feel that they're leaving hints for us in Jenova's names, similar to how they did in the OG.
      Jenova's name was always relevant to what was going on.
      So seeing the same in the Remake project makes sense, especially if they use it in a meta way to hint at the future a bit.

    What a great journey, I really enjoyed your summaries! Thank you for that!
    From a filmmaker perspective, I believe they wanted us to think aerith might have died in both the iconic scene as well as a more knowing aerith in the church when sephiroth enters the door.
    This buildups to her entrance, very cinematic, where viewers go from guessing/hoping it's her (footsteps, shoes, white whispers) into being relieved that some part of her (the knowing one) is still there when she finishes her entry to the fight.

    I think I may be alone in this, but what if Cloud, while certainly more than a bit mentally off, is not 100% gone and that rift in the sky is a hint at something else? I feel like the rift and the sudden repair of the plane’s wings are a little suspect (were they just carrying spare plane wings? If so, why not repair it sooner?)

    • @Sector6UK
      @Sector6UK  Месяц назад +1

      There is definitely a possibility that something weird has happened in the ending, as in, we've switched worlds.
      It's definitely something i'm going to be giving it's own video to, but yeah it's something I can't shake tbh.
      Did we swap with Zack maybe?

    • @adammoriwaki
      @adammoriwaki Месяц назад

      @@Sector6UK Hmm that is an interesting idea that Cloud swapped with Zack! Maybe he stepped into an iteration of Zack's worlds where Aerith still died? The FF7 creators want the community to discuss the game / ending until part 3 comes out, but it doesn't seem like there is as much theory crafting this go around as many seem to be interpreting things in a similar manner. Perhaps we are missing something that's hiding in plain sight like this?
      My initial thought was Cloud stepped out into some other world after the battle with Sephiroth, too. It just seems very odd to me that the Tiny Bronco was repaired when it really doesn't need to be to reach Bone Village and doesn't match the OG at all. It's possible the repaired TB is just a mechanic to give us an open world the beginning of part 3, but I feel like they're trying to signal something and the developers don't do things without purpose.
      This likely will never happen, but it would be cool if while clearly mentally distressed, once Cloud gets right, that he imparts his knowledge of the various "worlds" and tells the party something like, "I know you think I am crazy, and you're probably right, but things don't need to be this way and I've been to other versions of our world". Then the game can diverge a bit from the OG and make all of the fate / other world themes introduced in Remake worth it. If they don't have some payoff for the new themes they introduced, then what was the point? Just to keep people engaged? I doubt (hope) they would do that.

  • @delikatessbruhe9843
    @delikatessbruhe9843 Месяц назад +1

    Congrats, I thoroughly enjoyed your breakdowns. I didn't think it possible but you brought up so many little points I never heard or though of before.
    About the "promise" thing - I can't really see it being a translation error. I'm gonna stick out my neck and say Square Enix has one of if not THE most thorough localisation process in the industry. The line in Remake was "wrong" because the translator couldn't have known ahead of time. This one is right on the nose, juxtaposed directly with the song and the text line. And I've just checked, the German says "promise" too. I can't see the reasoning yet but I think it's on purpose.

    • @Sector6UK
      @Sector6UK  Месяц назад

      Yeah I've seen that it's similar in other translations as well, It's going to be interesting to see what (if anything) happens regarding that.

    Bravo, loved these vids. I’ve gotten to about the same places you have in terms of theories. Though I would say Aerith is coming back in the terrier timeline - the flowers are just a mallet over our heads in this regard (I think Zack returned there too). Cloud does seem split between worlds, JUST like the imagery in the OG lifestream scene. He also seems to accept that Aerith is…”quasi” dead (?) I figure if he’s seeing Jenova images or being delusional, she’d hop on the plane with him. But he accepts she has to stay there. The tear in the sky…looks a lot like the tears inside the black materia to me. Are the alternate worlds contained inside it? And those gaps in the credits are just there to tease everyone. If they showed them it would “confirm” they happened. This leaves open the possibility that Cloud just imagined all of it.

    • @Sector6UK
      @Sector6UK  Месяц назад

      Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it!

    Finally, the promised land

  • @FoxbatStargazer
    @FoxbatStargazer Месяц назад +2

    I think Sephiroth is trying to merge the split worlds of Aerith dying/not dying. He calls it the “confluence of worlds, brief joy turned to sorrow.” He wanted Cloud to partly experience saving her, and then negate it by merging the worlds enough that both Aeriths die, and then farm those bad emotions to control cloud and further merge more worlds. That is why the live Aerith falls, she might even be dying from the confluence. This is probably also why Cloud and a little bit Tifa experiences both worlds at once.
    I doubt the alt Aerith would ever get up again had not cloud told her to “wake up.” With Sephiroth banished, the power of his faith/denial pushes the divergence again and essentially revives her, just like Zack uses his will to create alternate worlds and one of them manages to get to Cloud.

    I literally watch your videos all day cuz I wfh on my laptop. So hey the purple and black and green sweets being symbolic of the corrupted ls is such a good one! I would have never caught that I was so distracted by the cuteness of Cloud and Aerith’s last date together. So I’m really happy your saying you don’t think Cloud is imagining he saved Aerith bc basically I feel the same way as you and came to the same conclusion. But a lot of other channels are saying Cloud is delusional and pretended he saved Aerith and they played the OG and know the story better then me so I started thinking they’re probably the ones who really know what’s going on. But yeah at the end of the game I thought that is the real Aerith in spirit form and I saved her. I really hope that’s what happened. I do understand that chances are she’s in a pocket world Cloud made and it will disappear. So she will be taken from us eventually but I really want it to be true that Cloud attempted and technically succeeded in saving her. I saw this Reddit post on theorizing the ending and one thing they said in it was that they think Clouds spirit ripped from his body in that moment and saved Aerith (spiritually) and also that the Cloud Zach is lugging around in the terrier timeline is Clouds broken soul. Not entirely sure how that fits but I liked it. Another thing was I noticed Cloud is wearing a uniform with two black shoulder pads at the end of Crisis Core and in the terrier timeline. I was wondering how come his out fit changes to the one shoulder pad blue uniform?

    • @Sector6UK
      @Sector6UK  Месяц назад

      A lot of people are still hoping the story remains the exact same as the OG in the end, and if Aerith isn't dead then that ruins everything for them, so they push that narrative hard.
      I just go off what I see in the game, I feel like thats the best indicator of whats going on.
      As for the uniform, I've seen mixed thoughts on it, from people stealing parts of his uniform in the slums, to him just changing it.
      I'm not 100% sure myself tbh, I shall do some looking in to it!

    NEVER trust a crazy man like HOJO! Look at what he did to Aerith's Mom, including his own son! No wonder
    Sephiroth hates Hojo more than ANYTHING. Honestly, I don't blame him.
    Sephiroth is still going to be killed at the end of Rebirth Part 3 for something he did NOT do {Wiped out an entire village in a crazed fit of rage after being lied to, thinks Jenova is an Ancient and his mother and tries to retrieve her when in reality Lucretia is Sephiroth's real mother}. Hojo is the true villain of the game. What makes Hojo the worst is he KNEW he was hurting others… and delighted in it.
    Sephiroth's switch from a dutiful SOLDIER to a mass murderer seemed too sudden. He finds out that he's the product of an unethical Shinra experiment, mistakenly believes himself to be an Ancient, and apparently decides that all humans must die for past transgressions against his people. It felt like something was missing.
    Hojo has always been the real villain to me. Professor Hojo is the greatest villain in the Final Fantasy Franchise, without question. The man is just pure evil. I know Sephiroth's the bad guy and we are supposed to hate the bad guy, but after crisis core I can't help but feel awful for him. He isnt really Sephiroth anymore after he lost his mind. More to the point if anyone found out whwat he did we would all likely lose our minds too. He has an alien inside him because of Hojo. Honestly, he is just a disgusting human being who has ruined things for many, many people and each one deserves to stab him to death. Sephiroth is Hojo’s son. The fact that Hojo experimented on his own son with Jenova cells is the ultimate sin in my opinion.
    I think Sephiroth is the most deserving of the honor. I actually think in terms of Hojo's victims, Sephiroth got it the worst after being lied to and abused for his whole life. Like he got into SOLDIER when he was less than 10 years old, which is already telling of how fucked up his life truly was and we don't even know the full extent of Hojo's experiments on him. And he is his SON. The fact that Hojo experimented on his own son with jenova cells is the ultimate sin in my opinion. I think this is what actually made Sephiroth snap in the events of Nibelheim. It's the flashback that hit the hardest for me. Hojo used him and his mother as a lab rats and lied to him for most of his life and heavily implied to be the one who put him on the Nibelheim mission so he would discover the records of the Jenova project that drove him insane.
    I think this is what actually made Sephiroth snap in the events of Nibelheim. Although personally I would also really love to see Sephiroth slice him into ribbons but he's sort of possessed by an alien right now and not sure if he even cares about Hojo anymore.
    Who knows what Hojo put him through in his childhood, probably viewed and treated him like a petri dish same way he did Aerith's mother.
    I think he would love to be killed by Sephiroth. Especially after seeing some stuff from Ever Crisis too, like yes, he is evil, but that change happened after being lied to and abused for his whole life. Like he got into SOLDIER when he was less than 10 years old, which is already telling of how REALLY messed up his life truly was and we don't even know the full extent of Hojo's experiments on him. In reality Sephiroth too is a traumatized individual who had to endure years of abuse and continues that cycle of abuse that was started by Hojo. So with that in mind he definitely deserves to kill Hojo the most. Sephiroth is who he is fully "thanks" to him. So with that in mind he definitely deserves to kill Hojo the most. Sephiroth is who he is fully "thanks" to him. His whole life ruined, not a moment of happiness. Sephiroth deserves it the most. Sephiroth is Hojo’s son.
    Although personally I would also really love to see Sephiroth slice him into ribbons. Who knows what Hojo put him through in his childhood, probably viewed and treated him like a petri dish same way he did Aerith's mother. I would love to see Sephiroth destroy Hojo. I know he's the bad guy and we are supposed to hate the bad guy, but after Crisis Core Reunion, I can't help but feel awful for him. He isn't really Sephiroth anymore after he lost his mind. More to the point if anyone found out what he did we would all likely lose our minds too. He has an alien inside him because of Hojo. In reality Sephiroth too is a traumatized individual who had to endure years of abuse and continues that cycle of abuse that was started by Hojo.
    The fact that Hojo experimented on his own son with Jenova cells is the ultimate sin in my opinion. I think this is what actually made Sephiroth snap in the events of Nibelheim. It's the flashback that hit the hardest for me. He is actually crying. It broke me.
    I never cried at any video games until seeing Sephiroth's crying in the Nibelheim flashback in Chapter 1 of the game: Fall of a Hero in the mansion, showing more emotion and psychological breakdown in the Nibelheim Shinra Manor basement and Genesis lying in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Sephiroth was already freaking out about Jenova and the Makonoids. The FFVII Rebirth game had a huge impact on my life. After all the abuse Sephiroth was still so well adjusted, so professional, calm, friendly.
    The REAL Sephiroth isn't even in there anymore. Sephiroth is too far gone so he needs to bite the dust permanently as much as I hate to admit it. I sympathize with what he's gone through. He unfortunately suffered so much pain and suffering, being this stoic, all-knowing, master-manipulator we all know and love…
    Professor Hojo is the greatest villain in the Final Fantasy Franchise, without question. The man is just pure evil. Seriously, Hojo is the actual main villain of FF7. Literally the entire plot is his fault. And not in the 'Oops, I made one mistake with Sephiroth' sense.
    No redemption arc for Sephiroth is ever going to happen. Sephiroth is too far gone.
    I've never played a Final Fantasy game in my life. I honestly never played the PS1 original or the original PSP version of Crisis Core before. My first FFVII video game was Crisis Core Reunion in the series on the Nintendo Switch and I absolutely loved it. One of my favorite games of all time. Watched Advent Children Complete, too! And the music of FFVII Crisis Core Reunion is the most insane unbelievable thing I ever heard in a video game. Ever. They did the impossible.

      "No wonder Sephiroth hates Hojo more than anything."
      If that's so, why did he kill President Shinra and not Hojo? Is it perhaps because Sephiroth sees Hojo as a useful tool, or maybe he knows the truth of their relationship?

I believe that Sephiroth never killed the President. Jenova disguised as Sephiroth did after he commanded her to break out of containment to instigate the Reunion.

    Last scene of Zack theory:
    After Biggs is shot, Zack states he has a desire to go out on his terms. A desire. Now, what did the planet do for a person at the end of Crisis Core so they could fulfil a desire? Yep, I think the Planet/Aerith gave Zack that same treatment it gave Genesis. He will get to fulfil his desire of going out on his own terms.
    Now given his cheesiness of wanting to become a Hero, I can see him sacrificing himself for some reason. Possibly involved in saving a certain someone somehow?

      It is interesting to think, what is Zack's purpose now.
      The devs told us repeatedly pre Rebirth that Zacks purpose is to show us how the world(s) work.
      But what now?
      I can see him being all about saving Cloud and Aerith now, as I doubt he even knows what the current situation is with Aerith, he's just been being shunted between world.
      Definitely a video going in to Zack's future soon.

      @@Sector6UK From what we know about Zack, his focus will always be Aerith and Cloud. Anyone who knows Zack’s character know that if he gets wind that there’s even a slim chance of saving Aerith his goofy ass will find a way.
      There’s also no way him and Cissnei don’t meet again either. Her waiting and believing he will return has to have some payoff too.
      I think the way Zack will travel about the world is via the Lifestream pools we activated all over the place in Rebirth. Initially getting out of Midgar with the Help of Genesis. Remember that dude can fly and teleport.

      But everything feels so much more unstable now, Sephiroth has got his finger in all the pies and I think it could lead to something even crazier than we already saw in the OG, probably related to Wutai.

      @@Sector6UK "probably related to Wutai."
      Which means probably related to Genesis, given Genesis's connection to Wutai and how important Crisis Core's story is to the Remake project. The obvious place to introduce him in Part Three is Wutai, and I would even venture to suggest that Genesis might be this "Viceroy Sarruf" character we keep hearing about if it wasn't so blatantly obvious that he's Rufus. Still, there is a good possibility that Genesis is part of that plotline somehow.

    I took a different approach to everything sort of “going wrong” in Aerith’s dream world. I took it as a significance of their relationship, or lack there of. That their relationship as it stands is not a good fit. They need more time, but had fun for what it is. And the fact that the over looming sky is showing us it’s coming to an end, and what their relationship fate is meant to be. They’ve served their purposes in each other’s lives, but nothing more.
