Love the details and enthusiasm
Thank you!
Excellent review! I appreciate you discussing the sound system in detail, and testing it with the deepest bass sound in existence the 808 kick 😎 Also love the overview of mechanicals and underbody from mechanic’s viewpoint and showing the backseat fit of a child seat.
You're welcome! These are all things that matter to me when looking for a car myself. I appreciate your comments!
24:10 YES, especially the headlights. Understated luxury.
Much more ELEGANT than "minimalist" Volvo/ polestar. I don't miss them since they lost their way 8 years ago.
This vehicle exudes understated luxury. I also love how they take a luxury vehicle and make it take off like other cars are standing still!
Very good video with some unexpected detail - I really appreciated those underbody views. I have owned my 2023 Electrified GV70 Prestige for a little over a year now, and I can honestly say it's the best vehicle I have ever owned. To me it's the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, utility and ultra performance. By the way.. the driver's seat is actually an 18-way seat (and that doesn't include the massage function!). Genesis are selling themselves short by saying it's a 14-way seat. Thanks and keep up the great videos.
@richardb9591 thanks for this! The underbody shots were requested by a subscriber of ours, and people really appreciate them!
21:07 just realized this recently. In Genesis models : Driver and passenger airflow zones are independent of each other (not just different temps - driver can have vent open to feet, passenger to face)
Yes, they have separate motors and flaps for all. The automatic drying is a nice touch, too 👌.
17:01 might only be when you use the friction brakes. My 2024 gv70 EV comes to a stop LIMOUSINE SMOOTH with regen in ipedal or gentle breaking even outside of I-pedal.
That's exactly right. When it shifts over to the 4 piston friction brakes, it really grabs.
Was not expecting that opening, nice touch.
Thanks Fraser!
17:27 lease my gv70 ev 1 month, suspension has never "crashed" or fallen apart in any rough roads so far.
I should hope not! There is a long warranty, and we don't replace a lot of suspension during that period. Even when we do, it's very predictable and inexpensive.
Would love to see an Audi Q8 E Tron (or even pre-refresh E Tron SUV) review from you - it’s between that and this GV70 EV for my next (used) car.
We will continue to contact Audi to get them on the channel, Thanks!
4:58 i think the 2025 upgraded battery (77 -> 84 kwh batt) will fit under there. Same size , just higher energy density.
That is true and we may see that, but there is a 99.8kwh battery in the Kia EV9 with E-GMP platform. If they change platforms, they'll be able to squeeze that one in there one day!
@@livewirereviewthat 99.8 kwh battery will be for the gv90 and ioniq9 ( kia ev9 is based on the ioniq Seven concept)
@@Vamanos46 Yes that's correct. Because they are based on the stretched E-GMP platform that allows for that size of battery. This chassis physically will not accommodate that size. But the 84kwh mentioned will fit in this space just fine.
@@Vamanos46 By the way, I love your comments! Very specific and I enjoy answering them. Thank you.
I believe the 84 kWh battery will be fitted to the refreshed/facelifted 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 model-year eGV70 for North America. Other than colour choice, the 2023-2025 eGV70 for North America is pretty much unchanged from model year to model year.
23:13 sliding single visor?
Why not DUAL VISORS - yangwang u8 / mini countryman
The Volvo I have this week doesn't even have a sliding visor...
@@livewirereviewI used to be a die-hard Volvo fan all my adult life.
It used to mean understated luxury with actual luxury in the interiors. 10 years ago, i could afford a used, top of the line volvo model prior to 2016. I am a physician and can categorically say volvo DID have the BEST driver and passenger seats in the industry. Post 2016, all their cars including the top of the line cars in the Spa platform were off the mark.
It's as if Volvo is brainwashing its existing consumers by justifying cheap interior compromises, luxury features as minimalist Luxury. When Volvo started virtue signaling I realized i am done with their Gaslighting. They continue fooling new customers coming from cheap brands into thinking they are getting a top end product when it actually is NOT.
I can't forgive myself for trying the CMA platform- xc40 was decent design but budget quality materials were cheap, those "leather seats were are TOO HARD / firm and overall WITHOUT ENOUGH THICK PADDING TO STRETCH WHILST REMAINING SEATED.
2nd row in every CMA model had very compromised low hip points and flat seats without any support- why ? Was that the only solution they could think of to allow for flat loading area?
Scandinavian design is code for minimalist features; they might have visual opulence and a sparkle here and there but no longer are these cars comfortable to drive / ride in.
2 years ago, I test drove a all electric xc40 p8 and that was a hoot darting out of roundabouts, but was still far from nice for long distances.
Old Volvos were very powerful long distance cruisers especially in inline 3.0L 6cyl guise.
i was waiting for the ex90 to give it another chance . The EX90 was on my wish list for a while bcoz of the Lidar (LUMINAR said it would allow HANDS-OFF AND EYES-OFF level ADAS), and it is delayed to mid 2025, if not 2026.
It seems even the rivian r2/3 took on the same promise and has an ETA of 2026.
BTW in early 2024, TESLA bought $2 million worth of lidar sensors from this SAME COMPANY LUMINAR likely for calibration purposes (but i had been watching this company for many years and had a feeling it would be the gold standard one day)
19:38 mine is not the top end gv70 EV -it's just the advanced model - so no lexicon speakers. But mine are SO MUCH BETTER than my ioniq5 throughout.
It's a great, well-rounded system. The only thing it's missing is deep bass. Other than that, it compliments the silent interior.
