Why is the case never made that the pro-seed oil side ought to have a higher burden of proof than the anti-seed oil side given that seed oils are a relatively new food source which is only consumable because of industrial processing. Foods that fit in such a category should be considered "guilty until proven innocent."
The cultivar from which canola oil derives (its original name I don’t know if RUclips will let me say) is one of the oldest known cultivars and vegetable oils and we have documentation of its use back to the 13th century. There is a long history of its produce in Europe. Canola oil in the modern form in North America may be relatively new but the original form of it which is still widely consumed in Europe has a very long history.
I used to make homemade fried chicken with the "healthy" canola oil. I would literally get sick to my stomach after eating a few pieces. When I switched to coconut oil or tallow, I never had a single problem. That told me everything I needed to know

I LOVE reponce videos. Hopefully, it triggers an actual discussion between you two in person. As a matter of fact. I say do what Trent Horn (Counsel of Tent Podcast) does. If he makes a reponce video, he only does it once. If his opponent responds in like manner, he invites them to do a formal debate with him. If they reject or go silent, he let's his audience know and then leaves it alone until they accept. I love this idea because 1. You're not left making several reponce videos. 2. You can prioritize what type of content you want to produce in the future more easily. And 3, and most importantly, in my opinion, it puts the ball in their court. They then have to decide if they're willing to put their money where their mouth is. We all know you're willing to debate. Is Lane? I say do more of these with other vegitarian or vegan channels so you can hopefully spark more conversations and debates. Plus, their audiences will be exposed to you. Maybe a monthly thing? The problem with guys like Layne and Rhonda Patrick are they tend to base their entire theory of diet off of "studies"... which often blinds them to the bigger picture.
If you consistently watch his videos, he often preaches the exact opposite. He has mentioned before not getting too caught up in the guidelines. It's only when controversial claims are being discussed that we need to rely on what the studies suggest
That's called "science chasing." The problem with chasing science is that we were not created by science. We were created by evolution. You can analyze and interpret science in any fashion you want to confirm what you already believe... This is why I look at evolutionary thought, and see my science through and evolutionary perspective. Evolutionary thought IS seeing the big picture, and we did not evolve to eat seed oils...

How could an unnatural extraction of a already toxic plant with the help of GMOs and toxic pesticides and herbicides and extracted with toxic chemicals be healthier than natural animal fats?
This is a little over my head. After watching the 10-plus year old 10-minute YT video on how canola oil is made, it's hard to think of something that has to be chemically bleached and deordorized as nutritionally neutral, let alone "heart healthy."
FYI in Europe much of the canola oil (actual original name might not be allowed here on RUclips, sounds like grapeseed) is cold pressed, mechanically extracted, with no deodorisation, chemicals, or high pressure. There is a very long history of its cultivation and extraction from up to 1000s of years ago.

One thing that Layne consistently misses is that in the context of the real world, PUFAs show up almost in direct concordence with UPFs whereas SFAs show up in package with healthier foods.
Norton also told Thomas DeLauer recently that he now believes high LDL is what causes heart disease. This flies directly in the face of the fact that butter, lard, and tallow consumption have gone down, while seed and plant oil use has skyrocketed over the last 100 years. Common sense tells you he is wrong, especially given beef consumption is flat and chicken has gone up big. He'll never admit it, though, since it gets him more clicks.
Layne is just mainstream sheep without any deeper thinking. I knew like 15 years ago that excess of any PUFA fats in the diet is highly problematic even if it comes from whole food natural sources let alone refined vegetable oils that are oxidized and without protective vit E in form of fried foods etc.. Layne with his "everything in moderation is healthy you just need to get your protein and fiber.." is by far the most useless "nutritionists" there is..

A big problem I heard with many of those studies is that they put both [plant based hydrogenated fats] and naturally saturated fats into the same category. Both are technically saturated.
@@mattlange5890 An excerpt from an article in pubmed central national library of medicine _Transfats: What Pediatricians Should Know_ states “The process of hydrogenation consists of chemically adding atoms of hydrogen to cis unsaturated fat, eliminating the double bonds between carbon atoms and making them saturated”. @@mattlange5890 Yes they are, saturated refers to a saturation of hydrogen atoms. By adding hydrogen atoms to an unsaturated fat you turn them into saturated fat. The saturation of hydrogen atoms causes it to be solid at higher temperatures.
@@RickyVis Hydrogenated plant fats tend to also be higher in trans fats, and pretty much everyone agrees that trans fats are *really* bad. Even a hydrogenated plant fat that is promoted as zero trans fats is only zero for the portion size. That's the portion size that most people start off by quadrupling, then have another portion.
The trick to avoid eating any food is to think of them as toxic, and to picture the damage they cause inside. You would not knowingly pour oil you know contains sand into your engine. The inflammation is indicated on our skin, most commonly on the face.
I agree with this 100%. This is why the fruit based diet can work so well for some of us, when one actually eats an adequate amount of tropical fruit per meal (because we don’t want to starve. I was eating 3000 cals a day). These fruits have a pretty balanced omega 3/6 ratio. My acne finally cleared eating zero overt fat and I ate mono meals of mango, banana and oranges when I was in Costa Rica in 2010. I did also eat low oxalate soft leafy greens but i intentionally stayed away from overt fats like avocado and coconut (i did have young coconut flesh though which is less fatty) and of course zero oil consumption. But fat was about 5% of intake and around 10g maximum. I did this with the intention to clear my skin and because I came from a past of eating LOTS of fat. In my heart, this is Paul's greatest contribution to this space; engaging with compelling arguments in favor of the counter-position and displaying a firm grasp of the literature.

How could an unnatural extraction of a already toxic plant with the help of GMOs and toxic pesticides and herbicides and extracted with toxic chemicals be healthier than natural animal fats?
100%

Maybe it is, but why risk it when it's not needed?
FYI in Europe much of the canola oil (actual original name might not be allowed here on RUclips, sounds like grapeseed) is cold pressed, mechanically extracted, with no deodorisation, chemicals, or high pressure. A big problem I heard with many of those studies is that they put both [plant based hydrogenated fats] and naturally saturated fats into the same category. Both are technically saturated.
Plant hydrogenated oils are NOT saturated, where did you get that information?
@@mattlange5890 An excerpt from an article in pubmed central national library of medicine _Transfats: What Pediatricians Should Know_ states “The process of hydrogenation consists of chemically adding atoms of hydrogen to cis unsaturated fat, eliminating the double bonds between carbon atoms and making them saturated”.
They become trans saturated fat instead of cis saturated fat. Where did you get your information?
In fact, most people shop for and select the best oil for their vehicle's engine. So why on earth would they swallow toxic oil that damages their body? But fat was about 5% of intake and around 10g maximum. I did this with the intention to clear my skin and because I came from a past of eating LOTS of fat. Also, amazingly, scar tissue that I didn’t even realize was scar tissue disappeared during that time, and I had totally smooth skin in that area.

@@tropicaoptica How old was the scar tissues? I've heard a similar account before of scar tissue fading away
@@Traindom it was like 8 years old.
