Carl Panzram's fate was basically sealed when he was born. He was an ornery child, but quickly developed into a liar and a thief, until he was sent to a reform school and taught just how intensely and unspeakably cruel humanity can actually be.

I found your podcast by doing a research (for fun) on Albert Fish and now I'm addicted. I listen while I draw, do homework or when I'm bored. I'm usually more of a 'read it' person rather than listen but honestly I like listening to your podcast about the people rather than rummaging through things to find them. You give details and facts. It's so fascinating and I, I should say we (fans) most definitely appreciate how much work is put into the research on these people. Seriously, sometimes it's hard to find stuff like this. Thank you

I read a book several years ago on Carl Panzram and their is no doubt his rage came from his tormented youth....would he had a different outcome if he was brought up in a loving family, i think so but we will never know for sure. Great episode thank you so much for your work, I love this show!

I do believe that he could had lived a good life if he had being loved because of how he acted with Lesser, even after being so much damaged by the years

@@mila81784 how he acted in response to lessers kindness was heartbreaking, because we saw who panzram REALLY was underneath all the distrust, rage, hatred and anger. He was a nice person when treated properly and went out of his way to help and socialize with those who showed him any kind of acceptance or kindness. Shame he had such a brutal childhood and prison years in adulthood, he didn't have very good circumstances from day one, let's admit it a lot of us would be fucked had we lived his life/experiences.

i dont usually get into serial killers, but Panzram was a little different and stood out to me. To me he seemed like the ultimate example of how "the system" fails children.
the ultimate argument of nurture over nature. i cant help but wonder how if things had been different at certain pivotal moments in his young life he wouldn't have become the monster he was. and its very interesting how he was a killer at the turn of the century and yet only in recent years have people actually been learning about him.

The name "Prussia" has nothing to do with Poland or Russia, even if today parts of its former territory is in those countries. Prussia is the country with formed the basis for the modern country of Germany. Have you heard of people like Frederick the Great, Kaiser Wilhelm? Well they were Prussian. Germany didn't become a single country until 1871. Berlin was the capital of Prussia before it became the capital of Germany. You need to learn the word "xenonym". Poland, Prussia and Russia are the names foreign English speakers call those countries, not what the countries are called in their own language.
