Not much is known about John's very early life. His father was British military and was stationed in India during India's struggle for independence. John contracted a very serious illness as a toddler that is believed to have affected his complete mental health.

Great story! I have a few Serial Killers you might be interested in that are lesser known. A good one is Juan Corona from California, he murdered dozens and theres a lot of interesting info on him, his brother, and his life that would make a great addition!

Bearing in mind the era of this story am rather proud of my Homelands facilities & understanding of mental conditions FINALLYBhaving dome recognition because it is not about " politically correct terminology " but about diagnosis & comminityb safety .As an adolescent (I was born in theb1940s) we rode on a common that had the kind of facility you speak of whete the inmates learnt self suffuciencybskills We called it without any intent to ridicule " the Looney bin" Indeed one schizophrenic man who was allowed passes out.was befriended by my father & spent time in our home .I remember him so well.& between my Fathers. determination to help.lame ducks , educate me & this man himself began a lifelong interest in any & all mental idioms . Later when in charge if a Livery (Equine) Yard besides an hotel that employed several mentally " retarded ' men of various ages would interact with them& while conversations were complicated these men felt useful & posed no danger . It almost seemed listening to your narration that along with PC we have regressed in our ability to both understsnd & deal adequately with the mentally ill .Personally feel.much of it has to do with the 1970s momentum to release so many who ended up homeless on the pavements especially hete in the USA. living where I do see it & continue to see it as there was a now closed facility & thete is still.an Instituation. the saving grace is thebSalvation Army over night facility ...
