- #VERDICT: In Tennesee, convicted murderer Sean Finnegan shook his head when the judge told him he would be put to death by lethal injection for the brutal torture and murder of a homeless woman.
Finnegan, 56, was found guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in the death of Jennifer Paxton, 36.

@@Fugubro754That's what they used to do a long time ago I think. In the old west, wasn't it usually the next day at dawn, and they had the gallows right next to the jail or courthouse? I don't know why they'd really want to move away from that, for someone who's done something like that especially. Some crimes are just so heinous the perpetrators don't deserve any sympathy, or extra time either.

I’m not a fan of the death penalty. That being said if I was on that jury I don’t think I could have voted against it. This is horrific. That poor woman suffered so much.

Death penalty = Automatic appeal. Doesn’t mean he’ll win the appeal, but it’ll be filed ASAP. This will drag out….

I feel like he was more at fault than Rebecca was. I feel like she was mentally unstable but also was honest and feel like she did show some type of remorse. Both of them were absolutely horrible human beings. To do what they did to that poor girl. Unbelievable. I could back and forth on the death penalty but if anyone deserves it…..he does. It’s just awful.
I felt the same way about her but after hearing that she lost both parents at 18 and was probably homeless I realized that she was no different from the girl who was murdered. This man is a predator. He prays on the weekend and vulnerable. That girl is probably traumatized beyond belief.

It may take years for him to fulfill this sentence. However: it could also happen "any day" - and the longer he has to think about that every day, the better. Also: no appeal will overturn this. His crime was obviously horrific.
Thank you CTV panel for not doing what was done recently on Vinnie's show. What amounted to minimizing the killer's horrendous acts by focusing on the co-conspirator. She was not in fact on trial. Well done panel. I thought there was no low for certain defense lawyers (Al!).
Well they are doing there job as required by the Constutition. Rights are about fairness and not about what you want all the time.

Should not be an appeal process on cases like this where its absolutely certain the monster is guilty. Death penalty should be given within 30 days of sentence. Waste of money to keep them alive.

I agree decorum is needed -- to a point. It depends on the nature of the outburst. If it’s a mother bursting out into tears because her son’s been given death--I tend to think a judge who would strictly disallow such a thing might be doing so for reasons that are also personal, and use the rules of the court to hide behind. It can’t be an easy thing to process when a judge sentences a man to death even when he really deserves it. It would be difficult for a judge to pass such a sentence and then hear the persons mother crying.
I think the jurors deserve peace. They've surely been through a lot.

Don't forget that his Sister In Law (Roxanne Mundy) testified that he was severely abused as a child, including SA. He was once an innocent little boy himself. It was the first time he ever showed any emotion during his trial. He actually cried. This is what can happen when a child slips through the cracks.

There are plenty of abused children who never EVER would even hurt another human being, let alone torture someone to death and feeling pleasure from it. There also are plenty of people who had a normal childhood and end up hurting people or worse.

I’m pleased to see that times have changed when a very vulnerable person is killed. In times past, her drug addiction, homelessness & SW profession would’ve also been put on trial. She's in prison for life. Took a plea deal to get the dp off the table for her. Part of the plea deal was testifying against him.

Our Judicial System he has a right to an attorney and if an attorney is not appointed to him and or if the attorney that is appointed to him doesn't support him sufficiently or provides insufficient representation the verdict will be overturned and he will not get the death penalty or we would have to sit through another trial so thank God his attorney supported him
It’s a tough job, but to ensure rightful convictions it must be in place.
Coming from NY, TN is a good place...a great verdict impossible in NY.
