Just got a 2024 lefty Affinity Tele made in China for 225.00, string thru body and body cut. I expected lousy fretwork and cheap sounding pickups but that wasn't the case. I'm really impressed with the fit and finish of this guitar, no need to mod it.
this is just a small portion of the various squier telecasters, imagine how many other guitars there are out there to consider. it’s endless and quite maddening sometimes.
I've had a 50's Telecaster Classic Vibe butterscotch for a few years. I listened and played many. Fender Players and even American. Listened to several different recordings and from a blind test most of my choices were the same, the 50's Squire Classic Vibe butterscotch was to my taste! I now have a 50's Squire Strat Classic Vibe that is an absolute joy to play. I have health issues and in the mid section is some of it. So that tummy cut, extremely lightweight, easy chords/ scale, surprising sound with pick-ups and electronics is a great guitar. It resonates like an acoustic! I have intestinal blockages due to a shotgun blast I received while working. I can get certain chords and riffs that vibrate through me and I swear it helps things. I own a high end Martin Dreadnought, but due to comfort and size this little Strat is easy on the back and unplugged has remarkable sound for a solid body electric.
Yeah, I am waiting for my second Strat Classic Vibe 50s now, because the first one I ordered, while excellent, had factory fret issues that I can't overlook (not fully tapped into the wood, so much so, that if I bend the E1 string down past the fret edge, it will get stuck UNDER the fret and remain there, not acceptable). But the guitar sounds and plays so good that I am willing to go through the hassle of order and return until I get a good piece and then enjoy it :) White Blonde for the Strat this time around (first one I ordered was red which is lovely) and I am hoping that hte White Blonde will look as good as I've seen it look on some of the images :) I think that the Pine is the key to the vibrations that you can hear and feel on both of the 50s guitars, and it's just an absolute joy to play an instrument that physically connects and communicates music with you :)
@@MyDeepGuide Yes. Such a better explanation. When I chose the burst Strat, there was a green with matching headstock that was very good also. Feel was about the same but sound, when I played and the tech helping, to me the burst was better. He thought the green was the 🐝 knees. Another Fender I have thought seriously on is the Mexico Tele double humbucker with coil split. The one I fell for was a heavy metal flake teal color. Reason I passed one tone pot control seems a small bit bent. No go, but it played and sounded extremely well. Plus the tummy cut was there. Hope you get you 50's Strat and can't put it down my friend. New Sub.
Bought a Squier Telecaster 50's Vibe yesterday. Gorgeous 2 colour Sunburst and and a great sounding set of coils. It was also setup out the box for me. Win Win. I could not get on with the Butterscotch Tele 50's American Original that cost me 4 times the price and sold that on on. I love this Squier.

Great video. So comprehensive, realistic and fair. I had been going to by a Fender Player Tele and saw another YT about the Squier CV50s. On a whim I looked it up on Amazon Warehouse returns and to my astonishment there was one there for... wait for it... £223.00. The condition was described as 'used but acceptable' which did worry me slightly but with a 30-day no quibble refund I had nothing to lose. It arrived next day in pristine condition. It sounded superb although the action was a bit high. I picked it up from the luthier today and it is truly stellar. I would urge anyone to strongly consider the CV50s. It is a real keeper.
Thank you so much for the best review I’ve seen yet! You were very thorough in looking at all aspects of a guitar. I also liked the Classic 50’s Vibe the best. The sound was just right. I appreciate that you look at not only how a guitar looks, but how it sounds and feels too. It’s a very personal decision and you really have to try it out yourself.
I've got a 2012 Stratocaster Classic Vibe 60's, back then they were made in China and had medium jumbo frets. C shape neck and a bit narrower than the usual C shape neck. After a couple of years I replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio DP184 to get a similar hambucker sound on a single coil and it's one of my favourite guitars. Great build quality, playability and sound. I reach for it more than another more expensive guitar I have.
Same here...my two recent CV50 teles with Fralin/Lollars are superb and my favorites at the moment.....other 20+ plus beauts will have to wait til I tire of my Squiers....even my poor new Fender USA Pro II (nice but not magical for the money).
Thank you so much for this video man! It really helps me! You explain everything very good and properly. I think that Imma go with that 50s' CV. Tried it in a nearby insrument store and it was really great and fun to play!
Thanks for your in-depth review of the four Squier telecaster models. I have a CV 60s Telecaster and a CV 50s Stratocaster, and am extremely pleased with both. With careful setup and slight modifications (for example, I've installed compensated brass saddles in the Tele, making intonation less of a compromise) I feel that I have an excellent pair of instruments that cover the sounds that my Gibson Les Paul lacks.
Very good video, I have the Telecaster Classic Vibe 60s Custom and the 40th Anniversary Black and Gold, and I would like to comment that at least in the four Stratocaster Classic Vibe that I have, two from the 50s (I like colors), one from the 60s and a Signature Simon Neil, the difference in sound could be that the 50s have alnico 3 pickups and the 60s have alnico 5, the alnico 3 sound more bell-shaped and the 60s a little darker, and the Simon Neil has pickups that combine alnico 3 in the highs and alnico 5 in the lows, each one of them, this added to the fingerboard, which in different forums and videos they say that the maple fingerboard provides clearer sounds and the rosewood or Indian laurel sounds a little darker. I can confirm this with my Fender Signature Hank Marvin, with a maple fingerboard and based on a Classic 50s, which carries custom shop 50s pickups, which has a clearer sound than my Fender MIM special edition with a rosewood fingerboard to which I put vintage 57-62 pickups, which sounds a little darker, but now in the Fender catalog it only says pickups designated by Fender in both cases of the telecaster classic vibe 50s and 60s. If we follow the same pattern in the telecasters, there could be the difference and it would be a matter of taste what sound we are looking for. Greetings from Mexico
I just purchased a Classic Vibe 50's through ebay and I cant wait for it to get here. After watching the video I felt that I had made the right choice. I enjoyed your honest opinion on each of the Telis.
Rarely in watching guitar comparison videos can I really tell a tone difference through my crummy computer speakers. This was one of those cases. I also loved the look of the CV 60s, but that CV 50s had such a clearly better sound. Awesome comparison video
🤩I am soo happy for this video. I have been looking for my first guitar. You have no idea how many videos I have watched and still was confused. When I saw this notification, I screamed with joy because I knew you were going to do an amazing review. You did! These videos may not get the views your e-ink videos do but please make one for Ibanez entry level guitars or Epiphone Les Paul. I know they would be more informative than what I have seen on RUclips. Again, thank you soo much for this video. It might take time but it will find its audience.
Thank you very much! :) Well, that was the idea, and I am very happy to hear that it hits the mark! Yeah, views are a secondary aim when I make videos like these. It's mainly what I personally really love, and also try to combine with useful bits of information, usually stuff that I couldn't find when doing my own research. So yeah, some more are coming, as well as my upgrade and setup story of the Squire 50's vibe that I kept :)
I play trumpet and have considered a site similar to this on vintage trumpets/cornets/“flugs” since folks have asked for my recommendations over the years knowing I prefer, and play, vintage horns rather than newer models.
Bravo!!! Great review video. Encore! Encore! So many YT reviews cross over comparing brand against brand, which is OK, but as you pointed out comparing models within brands is infinitely more valuable. When reviewers do brand Vs brand it' becomes confusing, like, which model is that within the line? Personally, i would really enjoy more guitar reviews such as this i.e. model Vs model within brands. It's obvious that you put a lot of time into this vid, but please be assured it was time well spent. Once again, ENCORE!!!
I like the Squier CV 50s. And for looks, I actually like the stripped down look of the 50s CV Butterscotch Blonde, as opposed to the sunburst. The G&L ASATs are nice too.
The CV has a couple of strikes against it. It has a sticky neck, and faux vintage tuners and bridge. The Affinity has modern tuners and a proper six saddle bridge. It also has a much nicer matte finish on the neck. The benefit of the CV are the AlnicoV pickups which are superior to the ceramic pickups on the Affinity. So what you do is buy the affinity and upgrade the pickups to Fender Tex/Mex pups. You get a killer guitar and it’s still inexpensive. As to knocking the Butterscotch finish, that’s probably the most popular finish on a Tele, but the sunburst is very nice too.
I'm not knocking the finish, I love the Butterscotch finish, when it is done on a guitar that has something nice to show. These don't (which is completely understandable for the price point) and the combination is simply not a pleasant one, visually.
@@BradyHensley-u6y Yes they were. The six saddle bridge was an improvement that allowed precise intonation adjustment and height adjustment separately for each string.

When are they going to have a squire custom shop maybe you have choise of two neck sizes 2 to four different body wood choice 27 color and hardware up grades
Boy that WAS a deep dive. As you say, it's all personal and I'm glad you chose the one that was right for you. Personally they all sounded great in their own right (your playing helped) I recently bought the Squier Affinity Telecaster Deluxe Maple Fingerboard Black Pickguard (Black) and it was 99% perfect out of the box. Sounds great through my Joyo American Sound pedal into a clean Boss Katana. I also have a G&L Tribute ASAT Special (Tele style) which while twice the price and has different pickups, also sounds terrific. I've also got a Squier 40th Anniversary Telecaster Vintage Edition MN (Satin Mocha) on the way which I love the sound of from the few YT demos I've listened too. Basically, my approach is that all guitars have their own voice and should be enjoyed for what they are. But that's me :) Thanks for your video.
I've had better luck with sonics and affinities than the classic vibes. I've had 2 CV's, and they both had major problems; my last one had a whole list of issues. My sonics and affinities just needed a setup.
You can play Voja! It will take me years more to get to your level, if I ever can. I have a Stratocaster and would love to see a review of them too. I have the Fender American Performer. Fantastic guitar!
Thank you very much :) But I also have a long way to go, however, the journey is the thing I love about learning and improving at playing and understanding an instrument, so as long as you are enjoying it, that's what matters most :)
Oh wow, guitars! Great. Don’t forget to check the Vintera series. It would make for another great guitar video. The Vintera Tele 70’s deluxe have fantastic wide range humbuckers. I been trying to get one for a long time. Thanks for a fun guitar video.
Great review. I have a 2011 CV Duo-Sonic made in China, which is still my favourite guitar, after all these years - looks, tone, and playability are excellent. As for the instruments at hand, I agree, the CV 50's was the best, even though the 60's Custom was too beautiful.
The 60s is the same as the 50s except for the fingerboard material. Its difficult to see why they sound different. Any way, I think the 60s binding looks a bit fussy, So I think you have helped me choose. Thank you.
Well, the body material is also different, and there's a lot of it. And the neck profile is different. There're quite a few meaningful differences that cumulatively do matter in the end.
i have a CV Jaguar and an Affinity P Bass. In almost every aspect, the P Bass has a better quality. Maybe i shouldn't have bought my Jag B-Stock. But both instruments are great for the price and a good foundation for modding
What has happened? I no longer receive any notifications from RUclips for My Deep Guide videos! Why does RUclips have so many glitches of this type? My Deep Guide is my favorite reviewer for monitors etc.
12:18 - I understand you are comparing new guitars out of the box, but it's important to note the different woods according to the year of production. The earlier (2010-2016ish) Chinese CVCs were not Nato (Nyatoa), but were instead the much preferred Alder. Noteworthy also that the fretboards were Rosewood (not Laurel) for the better built Chinese years. Full sized pots on the Chinese as well. All around, the early to mid 10s Chinese-built were superior to the Indonesian years.
Uffff, I did ordered a CV 50’s butter scotch last Saturday but now after watch the video this ground noise is annoying me, I am a beginner, but now I am concerned
@MyDeepGuide I have it right in my hands. Trust me, it is string through. Maybe they changed that along the way but mine is a string through. It also says Bullet on the headstock. Looks like they changed that too on the newer batch.
I appreciate the video but there were several of us lucky enough to find a few factory screw ups that were MIM that were very well done and Fender actually was trying to re collect and buy back because they were a Fender series they were releasing later with the Alder Body and beautiful Maple Neck so in truth for $249 or in my case I bought the first one for $189 and the second for $220 and after playing a few days seeing similarities of actual Fender models I ordered my Dimarzio Pick Ups and turned the first one into a Richie Kotzen with the Chopper - T and Twang King and it caught on because several companies who didn't sell back to Fender installed those pickups in their guitars and sold on REVERB for anywhere between $1,400 - $2,000 and sold them all .. My 2 as I said I made one like the Richie Kotzen and then the second with the Area - T and Tone Zone - T for a more of a classic sound and I have been offered $2,400 for these guitars and I have not taken anyone up on it.. Even tho they are Squire Affinity series they are amazing sounding and playing guitars. I did tell one guy I would trade him for a Richie Kotzen model so I have one in Ash but I couldn't help but be proud of the these guitars and whether it be my Guitar Tech who brings these to life for me Squire has become a name that many are seeing more Quality Control in then when they pay big dollars for a FENDER anything.. The Squires have made the top of reviews for a while now and I think what is keeping people from realizing the truth about these quality instruments is that there is only ONE ENDORSED musician with Squire and others are talked out of it.. If I was to go back out and play again I think I would leave most of my fancier guitars at home and I could do just fine playing my Squires and Maybe my Music man Axis so i have single and Hum covered but that Chopper T in a Alder Body is huge sounding much to my surprise much like Richie's Ash body and I believe i could get away with just my 2 Tele's if I planned it right.. I would usually take my Jem's and my RG450 - RG550 models out being Basswood and all sounding very similar with being DiMarzio Pickups but this day and age some of these cheaper guitars as they say with a great tech to go over it and catch a fret that snags or something simple you would be set from the Jump 2 Squire Tele's a couple Pedals and I use my EVH amp or my Carvin Legacy and I can play with the best of them.. Remember honestly if you get lucky and find a comfortable guitar with great tone you can always upgrade so it becomes a top shelf piece of art but don't let names and players fool you because some of the greatest guitars in history were made from parts of everything and now many are priceless..
Hi Voja, we share our hobbies. E-Ink and guitars. So thanks for this awesome comparison video.🤠 How did your grounding issue work out? Did you find a way to get rid of it? I just bought a Squire Classic Vibe 50‘s directly from fender at the pre-black-friday-sale. And it has the same humming as shown in your video. It is awesome, except of this issue. So I am not sure, if I should return it to fender or keep it and try to work on the shielding. In the video, you said you kept the 50‘s guitar despite of the buzzing.
Okay. In my case it was an easy fix. The output jack was a bit loose from the factory. As soon as I had tightened it, the humming was gone - or at least it was down to the expected level of single coil humming.
Or, find a new FGN ..and simply ask for a discount...got my lefty Illiad a couple years ago that way...nice 20% off just for asking. Nice guitar with Seymours.
Don't be fooled by all the wonderful advertising. I bought a brand new Squire Classic Vibe 60s Telecaster on January 4, 2024. Right out of the box, the pickups didn't work. I had to wiggle the three way switch to get any sound out of it. I took it back to the store the very next day and got my money back. They tried the guitar themselves in the store and started to appologize to me as they also found that it wasn't working.
Yeah, quality control seems to be sketchy on the CV as well. I just returned a Squier stratocaster CV 50's, as it had various severe factory faults that never should have been allowed to pass QC. However, the replacement of the same model I ordered is absolutely fantastic and spot on, like my Telecaster CV 50's, so it's a but hit and miss, but it's worth the hassle, as a good one is truly an excellent instrument.
That Classic Vibe 60s looks a bit like the Telecaster Merle Haggard played. It's beautiful!
Simply the best review of Squier Teles on RUclips! Thank you so much for your diligence. 👍👍

What a truly wonderful video review of a truly wonderful instrument.. the telecaster !
I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Production, dialogue and demonstrations was first class.
Just ordered the 50’s CV
Thank you

finally a guitar video!🎉
I like the idea of the lightweight LPB Affinity. But I would choose the 50’s CV every day of the week, on tone alone.
I was blown away by the difference in tone, you really can't compare them.
I guess the 50s its made of pine which is super heavy
When are they going to have a squire custom shop maybe you have choise of two neck sizes 2 to four different body wood choice 27 color and hardware up grades
Boy that WAS a deep dive.
As you say, it's all personal and I'm glad you chose the one that was right for you.
Personally they all sounded great in their own right (your playing helped)
I recently bought the Squier Affinity Telecaster Deluxe Maple Fingerboard Black Pickguard (Black) and it was 99% perfect out of the box. But that's me :)
Thanks for your video.
Been waiting a long time for a guitar video!!!
More to come!
I've had better luck with sonics and affinities than the classic vibes. I've had 2 CV's, and they both had major problems; my last one had a whole list of issues. My sonics and affinities just needed a setup.
i found the standard lite brown with maple neck just edged it... but not much in it reely
Thank you!
Have you had a chance to play the Vintera II Nocaster as a comparison to your CV 50s? I'm curious if it's worth the extra $ over the CV
Great job
They all sound the same and look awesome
With most cheap guitars I have to lower the Gain on my amp and the ground hum is gone
The Affinity Series is good; the CV Series is great!
IMHO No Telecaster better captures the "spirit" of the original Tele as well as the 50s CV.
What has happened? I no longer receive any notifications from RUclips for My Deep Guide videos! Why does RUclips have so many glitches of this type? My Deep Guide is my favorite reviewer for monitors etc.
I don't know. Have you tried clicking and unclicking the notifications bell?
Nice video!
The Squier Bullet is a string through body guitar.
According to Squier themselves, no it is not.
www.fender.com/en-US/squier-electric-guitars/telecaster/bullet-telecaster/0370045506.html
@MyDeepGuide I have it right in my hands. Trust me, it is string through. Maybe they changed that along the way but mine is a string through. It also says Bullet on the headstock. Looks like they changed that too on the newer batch.
They may have changed that at some point in time, but bullets that can be purchased these days aren't string through.
Nice vídeo.
I’d love more guitar reviews. Have you checked out the Sire T7? I was eyeing the 40th Squiers, but you explained the difference to me, thank you.
I'm actually recording the next one right now, Harley Benton HSS comparisons, and that will be out next week :)
I prefer the affinity with upgraded pickups and tuners
How , as a beginner, do I know if the affinity guitar I like is a good one or not?
I dont know I have a blue affinty .mine sounds fine 😂
The vibe 60' is not available for left-handed people, right?
"With the Affinity you will get 2 Allen keys". Video clearly shows 3. Oops. I got 3 with mine too.
Still useful though.
Sometimes you can find n nice secondhand Fender Japan Tele. These ar very nice.
Or, find a new FGN ..and simply ask for a discount...got my lefty Illiad a couple years ago that way...nice 20% off just for asking. Nice guitar with Seymours.
Both affinities and the 50s vibe had a deeper bass tone the 60s was more mid and treble.
Indo classic vibe cant even get the back ferrules straight the china ones were perfect plus the laurel is cheap looking
ブリッジ…29:34 ...29:40 60年代 / 29:55 ... 30:02 50年代
BOTH...30:58 60s / 31:18 50s
NECK...32:22 60s / 32:44 50s
Never seen that grounding issue in these guitars. Odd.
Yeah, I agree, but 4 out of 4 is also odd.
Classic Vibes 60s sounded best to me, Where did you answer best fretwork and easiest to play? Way too long of a vid had to fast forward.
I'll never understand this... If you don't like long videos, why would you click to watch one, and then complain about the length 🤔?
@@MyDeepGuide to get the information which you didn't even provide lol. At the end of how the different guitars feel you don't even talk about it lol.
Do they have e-ink displays?
Hidden deep inside!
There are cool guitars with display and all kind of effects and drums and stuff. It's called lava me 3
not to heavy?
Cv 60 all the way
It is a thing of beauty, and sounds awesome, if that is the type of sound you are looking for :)
You forgot the D.E.S.T.A. test!
DoH!
