I really appreciate the addition of some trauma gear to this list. It is often overlooked. I’ve been fortunate enough to not have had any major injuries, but I live alone so this is a must have in my book.

Love this video. I keep meaning to leave a comment on the podcast, but one of the things I always enjoy about your work is both seeing you "figure it out", and also knowing that you've likely tried a number of options (of glue, or filament, for example) and landing on something that works. Takes out a lot of guesswork for us amateur makers out there, and it's appreciated.

I really like my FastCap tape measure. It’s got the fractions written out and it’s got the numbers written to be read both directions. Pretty awesome.

I have their lefty/righty. It is great.
I have a couple fast cap tapes and love using them, but it did take a couple times making the mistake of reading the incorrect side of the tape (68” instead of 86”) to make me pay more attention when pulling the tape
Overture is pretty much all I use for PLA and PETG. Also, check out the Ryobi cordless compact glue gun! It's super tiny and runs off their 18V battery platform..
I bought my Gerber Crucial YEARS ago after Bob recommended it and I love it. It goes everywhere with me.

You should consider doing a shop, shed and HQ tour soon... You made some significant improvements, adjustments, and decorations over time.
I like the overture PETG quite a bit. That's usually what I buy. Glad to see they have moved to cardboard packaging.
overture is trash PLA once you actually get into good filament like the jessie brand or filament one you can see a very noticeable difference
This is a top notch list, and somehow feels much more genuine than the typical "10 gifts to buy a maker" videos that flooded youtube last week.

I feel like you can never have a cutting mat big enough, just wanna cover my entire floor.
First aid stuff is very important, why do I have a kit in my car and not in my garage/shop?

Fast Cap makes a 12 foot Metric/Standard tape measure. In addition to displaying measurements in centimeters or inches, it also has a scratchpad to write dimensions in pencil. It also has a pencil sharpener built into it.

Appreciate you keeping safety on the list, even for gift giving. I recently bought and mounted up a first aid kit in my garage because the teenagers keep moving the bandages and we can never find them when we need it (for minor scrapes thankfully!). Good to have the reminder at a time of year when people might be out making gifts.

fast cap glu bot has been my favorite wood glue bottle. highly recommend if doing alot of glue ups.

I use overture too, printed many spools of it. Great results, cheap, consistent.
To go with your trauma items, consider a tourniquet. Have several, each near a device that can perform an unplanned amputation.

I've got the QuadHands helping hand kit, and I agree it's worth the money for anyone who does soldering or electronics regularly. Would also be useful for model-making, I imagine.
Overture is a solid choice for filament. Would also add that Hatchbox is another good option in the same price range, if the color or material you want isn't available from Overture. Also, if you have a Prusa printer, I think there's merit to going with Prusament. With a slicer profile that's tuned for both printer and filament, you can get really outstanding results. Same probably goes for the Bambu labs stuff though I don't have one of those.
Keep up the good work, and thanks for the suggestions...will likely pick up (or ask for) some E6000, as I've been wanting a good option for an all-around glue.

This is what I love most about this channel. Form & Function. and I too am a member of the E6000 fan club. I always say I could glue Lou Ferrigno to a lawn chair with that stuff.
I'll give a thumbs-up to the Overture filaments, I've tried a variety and they work just about as well as anything else. I am partial to Polymaker, but Overture is often cheaper. I also love those toolboxes! Such a classic design, they would probably last a lifetime.

Great list! When I got a laser engraver I had to buy a Metric tape measure it just makes it easier, for me at least, when working out sizing on the laser engraver.
Overture is all I’ve used since they became available. Love it.

Love Gerber. I carry the Gerber Dime on my keychain and it's saved me a hundred times over.
I keep one of those clotting sponges attached to my tablesaw with a magnet, and another in the bathroom of my shop. Going to add compression bandages to both locations - thanks!
Love those tool boxes, I have the same ones you do! ANA (the airlines) has these boxes (larger size) as standard issue at their aircraft maintenance facilities in Japan.

Haven't used the Armbar yet, but I love my Gerber Multipliers, I've had one since I was in Boy Scouts. I've been carrying the MP600 for a couple of years but used the MP400 before that.
I really like carrying a compact set of pliers, and I like the way you can deploy them one handed with a flick of the wrist
The 400 had a pair of scissors on it and they were incredibly handy. I might have to go back to those again. The 600 are bigger, but I don't really need the extra size.
Good call with the trauma sponge! Definitely one of those "hope you never need it" bits of first aid kit, but first aid is something that's not often talked about - trauma first aid doubly so
Can’t live without my engineer scale tapes. I have a pile of them in my toolbox just from ordering more while the others were lost.
Right before thanksgiving I had an incident with my table saw. Nothing super bad, just touched the meat of my thumb to the blade accidentally. Took a small chunk out of the center of my fingerprint area. (I got lucky; it could have been a LOT worse.) At urgent-treatment they decided it was too wide to stitch, but they put a small square of that clotting foam on the wound and wrapped it up in surgical tape with some gauze. Healed up fine within a couple of weeks. The foam protected the wound really well and soaked off with warm water or saline solution.

I like my ryobi glue guns. I have the one for the small sticks that is a cordless and has the base to heat it up. Better than a plug in one. So if you stop your project for a bit your glue does not run out to a melted pile. I also have the large glue gun as well. Matter of fact I just used it last night. A drawer that I use a lot has some baskets in it holding stuff in it and they always move so I just added some glue to the edges to keep them in place. Works wonders!
I picked my desk that I got for home office work to fit a 24x36 cutting mat. For cutting mats, as big as will fit is the best size.
I'm a big fan of esun pro pla and my Ryobi hot glue gun. Its powered from the drill battery and when you're done with it you can just set it down you don't have to worry about it falling over using the little metal piece that some of them have

I love overture petg great stuff
Compression bandage and clotting agent are great but compressed gauze too and a tourniquet is a must-have (carried on body!) when operating just about anything powered and with saw in it's name or that could otherwise give you an inch deep by inch long laceration. (Inch by inch is my standard because that covers most of the places on your body that could give you enough of an arterial bleed to forever end your making within just 30-120 seconds. You do you.)
The nextool flagship mini is my favourite multitool. Tiny, but mighty with pliers and actually good, full size scissors.

less a pocket and more a keychain tool but i have the old style swiss mini champ and love it for a single inclusion the pen. now it looks like they made a diffrent model that also has a pen
Another really good brand for printer filament is Inland. Especially if you're using PLAs. They're inexpensive and always work great for me. They have also moved over to cardboard spools and even offer spooless options that you can swap onto a reusable spool.
quad hands also makes one tha attaches to the base of a panavise. its a great addition to the pana

I just bought like 5 of the overtruder glow in the dark filament, I need to tune the heat since I get a lot of 🧵, but the regular filament has been good.

I've been using the Gerber Armbar in my mountain bike pack for years. Having a full size blade and tool arm has been a life safer! Going to get my father one of those Trusco tool boxes for xmas!

Heh, those blue fold-out tool boxes are THE standard toolbox where I live. I inherited my grandfather's one. Different brand, but exact same idea.

E6000 is great. I've used it for so many things. You can even repair shoes with it!

can you do a RUclips short about tape measures where you extend all of your 12' tapes and compare their precision and accuracy?
A genius use of “in no particular order” also, I’ve never related to a blooper harder as my family seems to know when I’m filming and choose that moment to flush.

Re: Overture filament - They seem to be about the same price as Polymaker normally. I think I'll have to check them out once I get through all of the rolls that I bought.

imperial/metric tape measures are literally all we have in the UK lol unless you specifically buy one that isnt from a tool merchant or amazon
