  • VERY IMPRESSIVE Zen 5 Benchmarks Leak - But Are They Legit?
    Some freshly leaked Zen 5 benchmarks have caused quite a stir online, but are they legit? Join us as we examine the latest Ryzen 9000 performance benchmarks leaks, and whether or not we believe this leaked benchmark is real. We've had numerous leaks for both specs and release dates for the next gen Zen 5 CPUs over the last few weeks, and as the hype picks up steam in the run up to Computex 2024, it's important to be even more vigilant when it comes to spotting fake specifications or performance results.
    We also touch on briefly the expected Zen 5 release date, what SKUs we think we will see at launch, what we expect to see for AMD's plans for the Zen 5 X3D variants, and more. But the question remains - will you be choosing to upgrade to Zen 5 this gen?

    *Even with Infinity Fabric, we need to see more cores on a SINGLE chiplet. This is the next jump in tech that we NEED. More than 8 cores per chiplet. This is why Intel started the whole big.LITTLE thing (which I still despise even though I went with a 14700K).*

      No point in 200W idle for 32 cores with 4nm. Its much smarter to wait for 2nm and get the efficency improvments so 32 cores wont waste as much.

    • @blkspade23
      @blkspade23 Месяц назад +1

      The reason Intel went for a hybrid design is solely because their P core require too much power, and E cores were the only option to stay competitive in All-core productivity without even more outrageous power requirements. Intel certainly could have made a 16 core monolithic P-core CPU considering their 18 core HEDT CPU was a thing, it would just be too hot and power hungry. Also expensive per die considering how big it would have been. AMD isn't at a point yet where they can make their highest performing chiplets that dense yet, and the consumer space doesn't really need it yet either.
      The next problem of increasing cores is that it requires more memory bandwidth to get the most out of them. The 24 Core Zen3 TR Pro sees a performance hit dropping to 4 from 8 channels. It gets worse for the 64 core model. The 5950X was only 12% faster at MT vs the 3950X while being 20%+ faster in single thread. Somewhere in between you can see there is a memory bandwidth problem. If we do see 32 cores on AM5, it probably won't be optimal having it limited to a dual channel controller.

      So what about you? 9800X3D?
      Intel 14900K or 15900K seems powerful..
      but you know for that same level of performance..
      I rather have AMD CPU which are best performance per watt.
      It's also more of a healthy electricity bill compared to Intel CPU's.
      I don't understand people who go Nvidia and Intel..
      That's a deadly combo (very huge power consumption) $$$
      What people don't know is that X3D will help raytracing a lot
      also technologies like FSR/DLSS and other AI machine learning apps.

    Those new Ryzen chips are great but their plateform is weak. Motherboards manufacturers are not even trying to compete.

    • @blkspade23
      @blkspade23 Месяц назад

      That might be true with-in a certain range, but the AM5 board I got with the same features as my AM4, plus 2 more M.2 slots is cheaper than that X570 was. They aren't in competition with the previous gen, because there isn't really good reason buy an AM4 board now compared to AM5. The best thing about AM4 now are their continued releases on it being great advertisement for AM5. The option of an in place upgrade to a 5950X or 5800X3D are good if you already own AM4, but those are your limits for productivity or gaming performance.
      The competition is with LGA1700 and its successor, given AM5 support is going to span at least 2 of Intel's sockets. It's certainly competes well vs LGA1700. 4 more PCIe 5.0 lanes, bios flash back is standard and there will likely be at least 3 proper gens on AM5.

    A 15% theoretical performance improvement over two years. IPC is still at the level of 12th gen Alder Lake. It has better power efficiency due to a more advanced manufacturing process. By adding a massive cache, it achieves decent gaming performance. I wouldn’t call this an outstanding achievement.

    • @avynian
      @avynian Месяц назад

      Sorry, but what are you smoking? CPU-Z is completely useless to compare CPUs from different vendors. It was highly biased towards Intel with benchmark version 17.01 released with CPU-Z 1.79. Industry standard is the SPEC suite. It shows that IPC of Zen 4 and 12th/13th gens are practically on the same level. Zen 5's IPC should be significantly higher. CPU-Z was a worst case for Zen 4 with just 1% IPC improvement. On average Zen 4 had over 10% IPC improvement. If the numbers are not fake and if the same applies to Zen 5 we might see about 30% performance improvement over Zen 4 for 1T with >25% higher IPC. That would be indeed an outstanding achievement and the most significant improvement of the architecture since the original Zen.
