Constant Flooding, But No Clean Water? Water Safety In Jakarta, Indonesia | CNA Correspondent

- About 70 percent of Indonesia's population lacks access to clean water. For many, safe sources are distant, contaminated or expensive and water safety is a major public health concern. The government is taking steps to improve water quality. This includes a pollution eradication programme of the Ciliwung river in Jakarta which is to be completed by the end of this year. The plan aims to widen the river as part of efforts at flood management and to ensure water security in the Indonesian capital. Indonesia is also building more dams in the country as a source of low-carbon hydroelectric power, contributing to the clean and renewable energy mix in Indonesia. The government has a target to build a total of 61 dams by 2025.

Went to Jakarta in 2019 and it was a complete shock,. Noise, smell, chaotic, traffic etc. You will also find a lot of annoying people and scammers, but once you return to your home country you realise you have changed and never see the world the same way. Indonesia changes you for the better!
not in a good way..
every countries have its pro and con
It's one of the most polluted country in the world. If you are first timers in Jakarta you will have fever and get sick. Theres no fresh air out there due to pollution on the river full of waste and garbage.
@@bertronix182Europe is worse, I have no problems in indonesia at all. The air quality in western eu is terrible
Hi,
I think there is a misunderstanding in the translation. The Interviewee of Bapak and Ibu said 'PAM' not 'PUMP'. It might sounds similar.but 'PAM' means Perusahaan Air Minum meaning State Owned Water Company.
Thank you for the report.
So, it sould translated to ' water sevice'.
So, it sould translated to ' water sevice'.
@@buserroniyes
@@buserroni or, I think more accurately, 'piped' water service/supply. Crazy how low the water network coverage is there. As the report alluded to, if there was 100% coverage it could slow Jakarta's drastic land subsidence. Of course, it would likely only happen if the politikus2 can make a buck from it.
Ironically the liteal transltion is drinking water company, but their water quality isas tragic as cat piss
13 rivers in Jakarta are very polluted. So Jakarta's clean water source is supplied from the Citarum River at Jatiluhur Dam, West Java, more than 100 km from Jakarta. And in next 5 years, Indonesian Government will build a clean water pipe from the Ciujung River at Karian Dam, Banten, 115 km away from Jakarta.
The best example of a renewable energy center is the Cirata Dam, West Java. There is the largest solar power plant in Southeast Asia.
In fact, the Sepaku Semoi Dam is being built as a source of clean water and electrical energy for the new capital city of Nusantara, East Kalimantan.
Selagi warga susah di gusur, dan gak mau tinggal di apartemen vertikal, Jakarta hanya menunggu kiamat.
Contamination is a huge problem in Jakarta. I can not talk about other parts of the country, but contamination and risk of contamination is not only for water, but also for food as well. Anyone who has visited a pasar here would understand, that the cleanliness is in general.
Jakarta akan selalu jadi bahan berita dari media2 luar...tapi inilah kenyataan di lapangan
Percuma rasanya Ada Gubernur walikota kota.... memalukan
Hope our brother Indonesia can fix this.😢
Love from Philippines❤
Don't believe Singapore's propaganda which always mocks Indonesia even though its flag is modeled after Indonesia, its national song is also from Indonesia, even its president
At least Jakarta never STEAL water from Johor.
But your water still dirty

So true 🤣
I dont know hows relate jatigede dam with jakarta?
Another cna bad reasearch
You should review jatiluhur dam in purwakarta 70km east Jakarta
Jatiluhur dam is relate, cause it is main source of 65% clean water in Jakarta and also produce 1.4 Gwatt energy (bigger than jatigede).
We already finnish build another big dam in karian serang for water supply in jakarta tangerang serang.
So we hope cna can be more reseach in next video.
Mantapppp!!!!
Jatigede sumedang ke Jakarta ya jauh banget kan ya, gak logis emang research CNA wkwk 😂
Bendungan karian di lebak bukan serang
INDONESIA SHOULD ENGAGE PUB FOR WATER TREATMENT PLANT, WATER RECLAMATION PLANT PROJECT
difficult. the mentality is sooo different.
Thanks for this news❤
Let's always do alot of good ❤️
Even with connected pipe in Jakarta, can you drink that water after a simple home filter and boiling? Most houses in Jakarta (indo citizens), only dare to drink bottled water bought from the minimarts. Appreciate if anyone has tested th3 water quality from the pipes in Jakarta.
Agree.. Its rare to find a clean water at jakarta. Making a well isn't solution too, coz the soil also poluted by industrial activity.
But water from pipe also bad idea. When i live there a few years ago, sometimes i feel that water little bit salty. Idk why? But thats make me became fish for a moments.
air pam kan bagus dan jernih cong ! bangga bener jelek jelekin jakarta 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In 6.30😅
Benarkah?
Tapi jakut pinggiran.
Kemungkinan akibat ROB, gak selalu asin /payau kok. Cuman kadang2 doang.
Itu dulu tahun 2015/2016, gak tau gw klo sekarang.
Btw itu air PDAM/PAM.
Daerah situ gak dibolehin bikin sumur, katanya airnya kotor atau apa gitu gw lupa.
I thought they’re rich and powerful and G20 they don’t even have clean water
Don't believe Singapore's propaganda which always mocks Indonesia even though its flag is modeled after Indonesia, its national song is also from Indonesia, even its president
Where do coca-cola company take water from ?
Nowhere near jakarta
Who needs clean water when you have dangdut, rendang and mi instant.
Water is very important , not only gov but most people don’t really care about where we get it , we have been taking things for granted . Big natural resources bla bla . Our mind set is so lame ! Just pump and pump and pump, rich people poor people just pump pump pump !!!!!!!!
thanks CNA for letting the voices of ngos and locals plight heard!
HEY THAT'S OLD NEWS! JAKARTA HAS NOW CHANGED!
Keep spinning
If just a hole if not a dam? Or make a river so it becomes colder anyway? Then create a watermill that creates electricity supply at the area.
Make "free for ownself"(electricity) river, a mini one around own house, that have own small watermill too.
What do you mean no clean water? I got clean water alot even during the flood.
Jakarta is still developing
underdeveloped*
It cannot, that's why they move to IKN
Because the whole country is corrupt
If they let the Chinese thrive they would have a better infrastructure . But because they are racist and extreme Muslims they will forever be underdeveloped

Jakarta can't even provide 35% of clean water
Its enough in 2000s
When great Jakarta population around 25 millions people.
Cause we just have 1 big dam in jatiluhur purwakarta 70km East Jakarta.
Now we have another big dam in karian serang 70km west Jakarta.
Maybe it will be 100% solved in 2026 for 35 millions peoples.
Its easy to make tap water if we have small population like Singapore.

Why does CNA a Singapore government owned network keep on poking their neighbor’s problem on a constant basis? Not enough bad news in SG?
Obviously you have not watched the video but merely reading the title. If its not for CNA we all wont know about what our neighbours are experiencing and how the govt overcome these problems
Masalah buat kamu? Mau siapapun yang memberitakan kan tetap masalah nya ga bakal pergi juga kan? 😂
Telinga kamu didesain begiti halus sampe ga bisa menerima kenyataan keras??
Ini masalah riil, dan harus menjadi perhatian.
Because in SG news network like CNN are restrained and controlled by the SG government. They cannot criticize the state nor report the ugly truth of SG. It's the truth so they resort to feature the social problems of its neighbors to show the world that SG is way better.
Can any of you give me a title to a segment within CNA reporting on controversial issues in Singapore such as corruption or how about unethical sand import that other news outlets have published? This is a serious question because I’m not having any luck finding them.
Stupid comment from uninformed individual.
Forget about polluted water, Indonesians have the first HSR in SE Asia, they are happy even though it's a money pit.
Edit: It's my personal view, don't reply if you're not happy

Lagu lama.. dr jaman pak harto dah gitu. Hanya tambah parah
What? Islam isn't working in Indonesia either? I would suggest turning to the Living God through his son ,JESUS CHRIST
Neither Islam nor Christianity will work in Indonesia. The only fit best to their culture is the Siva-Buddhism their own Buddhism version.
