  • Fiona features on a new national website to highlight the wide range of jobs and careers in NHS Scotland. Occupational therapists help people of all ages to carry out everyday activities, which are essential for health and wellbeing. Fiona works as an occupational therapist assistant in a community mental health team for older people.
The people she sees are usually referred to the team by their GP, through their family recognising that there’s memory difficulties. Fiona enjoys meeting different people from different walks of life and finds her job very worthwhile and rewarding.

I'm an OT assistant in the US. How does one get licensed in the UK?

I'm an OT assistant in Newfoundland, Canada. Right now I'm working as a community OTA and making sure everyone has the equipment that the therapist gas ordered for them. I would love to work as an OTA in mental health.

You don't need a licence to be an OTA in the UK.
