This should be on the cover of a science fiction novel. It's terrific!

Loved this video ❤ the red painting worked so well and your tips about looking at your own and others work inspiring me today.
Improving is often a juggle of holding lots of information in your mind and goals at the same time as the physical act of painting in the moment. It’s holding many of those things at once I struggle with.

    Red is Agressive!
One of my favorites to use on all mediums.
    Much love to your artwork.

Red and teal look so nice together! Somehow the red doesn't look so angry with a bit of teal to cool it off.

👋🏾👋🏾 I love the practical advice you give! I never thought to turn old sketches into a mood board! You're so right that I'll see a thing that worked in something old, but never thought to revisit to practice that thing again.

Jane, this was a good one. At first, I was like I don't know...where is this going? And I'll be honest, until you put the gold leaf on and caran d'ache pencil, I thought the drips were too much, but it came together. I'm going to watch this one several times as I adventure into stylized watercolor painting and use it as a resource. You are one of the few youtube artists I watch that takes such high risks AND can explain/model how you do it. I'm such a straight and narrow overachiever that its harder for me to let loose, but watching your process despite your claims you had no idea where it was going, it was obvious there was a complete methodology and at minimum a bare bones grasp of how to get there right ;) Or perhaps it all was exploration on your end. Either way, my not so adventurous (in watercolor - read more realistic) approach is being influenced by you...just saying Bad Jane hehe. Much love 💘 Jessica from Georgia 🇺🇸

I'm always happy to hear that I can inspire someone else, it's just the most incredible feeling. I know the video might show polished process, well-rehearsed even, but I always get to edit and comment on the process once I have a successful painting in my hand and you don't know how many paintings I throw away before one works :) Thats the downside of adventurous approach. But when I don't take risks, in time there are art blocks as I get bored with the "regular" approach and I don't feel like I am progressing. Wish you the best luck with breaking your own habits :)

Such groovy background music. Loved that!!! And you do these warm colors so well. Thank you also for the tips!! I love how you used the lifting technique and I've gotta try the gold leaf. It really adds so much depth to this painting. I think your journey shows such incredible growth. Beautiful!!!

Hi Jane ! You have said in your favorite art supplies video that your favorite mechanical pencil is out of stock and you can’t find it anywhere else, but I think I found it on the french amazon ( for about 10 € ). I can give you the link if you want.

Thanks so much Charlotte but I have 7 pieces left and it seems I wont have to buy more anytime soon :) Also after that video, lots of people sent me links to different sites where those pencils were still available. You guys are so sweet!
