After returning home to Thailand from traveling in Indonesia, my wife and her sisters planned a family vacation to Rayong (about a 3 hour drive to Bangkok) on the beach.
We rented a family beach house, right along the ocean. It was a nice property, sort of reminded me of a camp like setting, and the house included nice places to sit and private individual rooms. What I liked is that it was quiet and peaceful and you could do all your own cooking.
The property is called Baan Kaiwan (บ้านไกวัล although I saw on Google they sometimes spell is Baan Kai Val).
Price - 9,000 THB ($274.91) per night - I thought it was a little expensive for what you get - but I guess you pay to be right by the beach, and I think we might have gotten a higher rate because we were there on the weekend on a holiday.

Breakfast fried rice is awesome. I eat quite a bit of Thai so I recognized Khi, Pla muk and Kung/Goong...I think. Ha. Excellent tour. Really nice editing and commentary.

Oh, Mark...you've gotten spoiled by your recent sponsored travels! That's a beautiful beach house, and home cooking by your mother in law, and a private beach. I've been with you long enough to remember when having a roof over your head and a blanket was 'luxury' for you. LOL! Still, nice evolution into dad-mode, and great drone shots. I'd give my remaining teeth to spend a weekend at that 'camp'!
I live in Thailand. Rayong is an industrial area and the water is brownish from the waste from the factories. Mark is correct about the price. For the amount that the family paid, they could get something at a nicer beach area like Cha'am which is before the big Thai tourist area of Hua Hin.

Nah the house is ordinary. You can get new houses for that price per month a little further back from the beach.

Mark, I am amazed how you keep trim. If I ate all that food that you sample I would be 300+ pounds. Must be your metabolism. Have you ever had the revenge of Montezuma or got food poisoning?.
