    I love your videos and just subscribed. I watched a bunch of videos but still wanted to message you for advice. I tried the red tiger viofo and another camera but what do you recommend for 4K camera. No price limit with sentry mode. Also hardwire or obd2 I saw both your videos on this but not sure. Please help lol

      Thank you Andrew! Ah when you say Sentry mode, I'm assuming you mean motion detection for parking security. Yes this does support motion detection (vision based), you can see that option when I cover the parking security features. And if you need radar based motion detection, then here is a good alternative ruclips.net/video/vUEsIYEBVck/видео.html Cheers!

    I just found your channel and appreciate your great videos. I am new to dash cams and seriously thinking about the 70mai A810. Do I have to worry about battery drain if I hard wire it. My car is in my garage most of the time. Is there a way to turn off the Park Mode when my car is home? Thank you.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you William! The 70mai hardwire kit supports low voltage cut off, as a prevention measure against draining your battery. Here is my video where I cover hardwire kits and their differences to look for ruclips.net/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/видео.html But keep in mind it is possible that a hardwire kit (even one that has low voltage protection) can potentially still drain the car's battery on vehicles that are not driven for extended periods of time (even if parking mode is turned off, remember the kit is still connected to the car). On those cases I recommend a battery minder like this one ruclips.net/video/C1LapUB7bXo/видео.html (which I also recommend even when there is not a hardwire kit installed to protect the battery for vehicles that are not driven much) Cheers!

      @@AlexAutoFunThank you Alex. I purchased the 70mai and hardware kit this morning. I will see how things go and hopefully no battery issues. I do keep a battery jump starter in my car just in case.
      I assume I could just pull the cable off at the dash cam if my car was going to be sitting in the garage for a while? What about just adding a toggle switch to the "batt" cable to turn it off instead?
      Thanks

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  7 месяцев назад

      @williamfeiring You're welcome William! Yeah I just varies from car to car (based on battery size, health and any parasitic draw), I actually have several hardwire kits connected to my car since I'm always testing dash cam but yeah I also carry a jump starter just in case LoL. Cheers!

    Hi Alex, Excellent informational videos!! I saw your video on the 70mai cam. Any recommendations on installing it on my Semi-truck Freightliner Cascadia 2014, connecting it to the passenger side fuse box? Legally, I have to also install a separate camera facing me as well. You have yet to put out a video on Semi trucks. Will appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Harsha! Ah good question, both A810 and Wolfbox require the hardwire kit to enable parking mode. That being said, there is an OBD2 adapter available that can potentially enable you to monitor your car while parked, here is how it works ruclips.net/video/YEklm9V6xYE/видео.html (just keep in mind it will not enable true park mode) And here is the full review for the i17 ruclips.net/video/pZ9HcEmL2GU/видео.html Cheers!

      Hi Baris! Oh wow, you must live in an extremely hot area, my State normally only sees around 100°F in a few occasions and it's crazy hot, I can't image imagine what constant 120°F feels like. Yes, if your temperature exceeds the rated temperature of the device you plan to run inside of the car, I would strongly recommend looking for one with a higher temperature rating. Hi Sebastian! That is strange, it should no do that. I would recommend contacting your installer to verify the installation and that the correct power supply was used (I seen cases where an incorrect component was installed). You can also contact 70mai for tech support, they may be able to walk you thru some troubleshooting steps. And please keep us posted on your findings. Cheers!

    Great image quality, but why is the FRAMERATE SO CHOPPY???

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Chuck! Ah good eye, I think it's a combination of running at 25 fps vs 30fps (which is my preferred frame rate for normal dash cam video and 60 fps if you want silky smooth video to capture fast moving objects, the option to change is on the resolution settings). The second part to this, I think is related to how new the Starvis 2 sensor is (IMX678), it really outputs an insane leap of quality (data) over Starvis 1 (IMX415). And I think now we need dash cam supporting hardware (SOC, memory, ISP, etc.) to also evolve to fully take advantage of Starvis 2 and it's higher throughput to deliver smoother video (basically the CMOS is pushing the dash cam's hardware to it's limits, notice how the rear is also 25fps but the dash cam handles it much better than the front, in terms of smoothness). But the good thing is that even if the video does not seem super smooth, the individual frames are crispy clear (if you want to capture plates). I seen dash cams with smoother video but the image is not as clear giving the perception of smooth video at the expense of fine details being lost (unable to capture plates). And I have more dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. Cheers! Cheers!
