    Hi fumanchurisado - thanks for commenting. The strum pattern is mostly as follows, tho it may vary a bit here & there:- verse is C dududd F ddu G dd C dd F dd C dudu chorus is F ddu x3 then dd C ddudd F dud C d F ddu x3 then dd D ddudd F dud G d - hope that helps ... cheers for now!

    New strings will take several days off constant re-tuning before they settle down but once they have settled they should stay pretty much in tune

    Wow, after picking up a Ukulele in Hawaii I never thought I get to the point of being able to play a actual famous song, after watching this vdieo(and a few good hours of practice of course) I actually can play it. Thanks for all the help! can't wait to watch the other videos and to learn more.

    I can only give you general guidelines - ie make sure you get one with geared tuners and not friction pegs, generally you get what you pay for so i would advise getting the best that you can afford, also get good strings - I can definitely recommend Aquila nylgut. As to which make again I can only speak for Ukes that I have used which are Brunswick and Lanakai both of which I have found to be good, but some research on google is well worth it b4 committing

    Hi keith - the version that I based the lesson on is by 'The Beautiful South' and is played on accoustic guitars with a very laid back rhythm. There's loads of youtube videos of the song so have a listen and it should all fall into place ...
    Hope that helps

    That was just brilliant! I never thought I'd be able to handle the switch from D to G but a bit of practice and tolerance of numb finger tips and you've got it!

    assuming you are playing the chords correctly the only reason can be that the tuning is wrong - try rechecking the tuning using a clip on tuner and make sure the strings are tuned GCEA from bottom to top and remember that the C string is an octave lower so don't try to tune it too high... see lesson 1 if u haven't already watched it

    Hi Michelle, thanks for commenting - it was my way of trying to show that that strum was less definite, or 'lighter' than a normal strum. Hope that helps ...

    I know some players who play G as a 'barre' chord by barreing the top 3 strings with the 1st finger at the 2nd fret and 2nd finger on 2nd string 3rd fret - might be worth trying that ...

    I'm confused.. The first time you play the verse, I believe the strum pattern for the first C is V/\V/\VV, but later when you play the verse at 1:34, I hear VV/\VV.

    Hi Chili. Thanks for these great vids. I bought a uke last year but didn't have time to really practice until now. Your lessons have kept me from chucking it out the window! But, I have wrist issues & playing the G chord is incredibly hard for me. I have tried altering it slightly by putting my middle finger across strings 1-3 on the 2nd fret & my ring finger across the 2nd string on the 3rd fret, but this finger sometimes touches the first string. Any other suggestions for playing G?

      Hi Joan, glad to hear you liked my video and I wish you luck with your learning - I too have stiffness in my fingers and although I don't know of any 'official' exercises I find that just practicing for 20 to 30 mins every day keeps my fingers working!

    Hello Dave. Not sure why, but I prefer to do G in different way: 1 finger on 1 string, second on third and then third on second string... it's less awkward when I do this chord in this way. Do you think it's still correct, or maybe better I should try do this in right way? Thank you

    • @287monty1
      @287monty1  10 лет назад

      If you find it easier then use it - you might like to try also this way - 1st finger flat across top 3 strings (AEC) at 2nd fret with tip of 2nd finger on E string 3rd fret (and G string open)

      Hi - it means to use a light strum of the strings on the 'return' from the downstrum as a sort of transition between the two sets of downstrums - hope that makes some kind of sense?
