I've just played "Bad Moon Rising"! A real milestone for me! I skipped "Blitzkrieg Bop" and went straight to this one. With my gift-ukulele I also got a book of a 100 songs and I've been trying to get Bad Moon Rising down, but failed. Your instructions and chords were way easier than the ones presented in the book. I'm tossing the book and going with your page all the way!
I'm getting better now. I'm playing sounds just like you play. It's so easy once your shown in slow lessons. Great thanks
Thanks Paula happy strumming 😎
Thanks man just learning my first few songs on ukulele and this is helping heaps! Your a legend!
I'm glad you're finding the lessons useful - keep on strumming!
Hello, I am Brazilian, and bought my ukulele a few weeks. I have never played any instrument and your videos are helping me a lot. Good job and thanks!
Thaks for the videos. I picked up the Ukulele after the kids bought one and left it laying around after a couple of days. I came across your tutorials and have not stopped practicing since.
If this was a school class we'd have a recital... well here is mine for lesson 3. ;-)
(see video response)
many thanks for posting your videos. They have helped me a lot.
Thanks Sean - glad to hear you found it useful
Much respect for your videos. I just got my uke today, been playing guitar for a while so this stuffs quite nice to get going on, having to get used to the much smaller fret size though which is a challenge. Keep more coming :) Subscribed.
Thanks - glad u found it useful

+Angela Amido Thanks Angela - happy strumming!
Hi Bryan - The strum pattern I'm using is fairly loose but is basically G -dddu D - du C- du G- du dud for the four lines of the verse then chorus; C - dududu x2 G - dududu x2 D - dudud C - dudud G - dududu however sometimes I tend to play a double speed strum particularly in the chorus, ie same pattern but twice as many strums, if that makes any sense! -
Thanks Steve - currently I'm too busy with various Uke groups but hope to get some time soon to do some more ...
Ur welcome - your video response is amazing after just one week - well done!

Thanks Vivien - I press my forearm on the body of the Uke to keep it in place - but if u find this difficult there are straps that you can get to fit to the uke.

The chorus strum pattern is; C - dududu x2 G - dududu x2 D - dudud C - dudud G - dududu however sometimes I tend to play a double speed strum particularly in the chorus, ie same pattern but twice as many strums...
thanks Mia - keep on strumming!

I like this one because I can't sing, at all, and this sounds like the song, not just accompaniment. And it's a great song. Thanks!

Good luck - happy strumming!
Mr Monster. Thank you for this. I just wanted to say I used your intro videos (simple strumming/tuning etc. 17 mins long) when I got my 1st ukulele last Oct. I've had other friends who have enjoyed my playing and picked the Uke and I always direct them to those videos to start. So grateful for them! Can I ask-is your strumming on the chorus different to the practice sheets? They seem simple DU, but when you're playing at full speed it sounds a bit more intricate/detailed? Or are my ears deceiving me? Thanks!
+cosmic68 Thanks m8 - yes the strumming may be a little different, tbh its so long since I made these vids that I can't remember! All in all though as you've probably realised by now the strumming pattern is not important - any simple strum will suffice as long as the chords are played correctly and the transitions are smooth ... ;)
it also sounds good with C to G to F
+Tanner Smart Thanks Tanner - Yes it does! ;)
thanx Rob - that could be 'cos I'm a Yorkshireman - u never quite lose it ... My Dad used to say 'All t'world's queer 'ceptin you & me - and I'm not too sure abah't thee!
Thank you very much!
+omar silva Thanks Omar - happy strumming!
Hi Charlie - Its a concert size Brunswick BU4C

Chilly Monster, you are God !
How are you able to support the yuke standing up?
ur welcome!
Great! This really helped me. Thank you :)
thanks Clair - happy strumming!
Hi Pontus - it means strum Down-Down-Up ...
Great video your a great teacher, but I get lost on what strokes to do....
Hi Orin - don't worry about the 'strokes' just strum up & down as naturally as you can and concentrate more on getting the chords/chord changes right - it'll all fall into place with a bit of practice ;)
That's brill, thank you for your advise, I'm kinda getting the hang of it. How long have you been playing?
Thanks again
Orin Beard hi orin I've been playing since 2009 😉
thx!
Day 3 ;-) with same lesson as yesterday ;-)
keep on strumming!
Any chance of doing a charleston or something ragtime like that
Sorry Lipo I don't have any spare time to do any new videos at the moment 🙁
yeah i get that but what is the strumming? :)
I really enjoy your attitude however you play bad moon so fast even at the beginning intro that I can not figure out when you switch to the cords when you are strumming. I am old and my fingers are stiff but I can find the cords just having difficulty with the strumming. What do you mean when you say four riffs?
Hi Donna I'm sorry to hear y that you are having problems following this lesson if you follow the link below it will show you the strumming pattern which may help
www.shroprock.co.uk/ChiliMonsterEasy1.html#badmoon
Cool Dave! By the way, I detected a Yorkshire accent when you said 'Download!"
Great lesson:0)) But I am struggling to find the song lyrics?
thanks for commenting, I'm glad you are finding the videos useful - happy strumming!
i dont get the strummingpattern ?? D-D-U ?

What kind of uke are you playing on?
It's funny because my music teacher is teaching this for our ukuleles!!

"HEY" I SAID "YOU CAN [C] KEEP MY [G] THINGS,
THEY'VE [C] COME TO [D] TAKE ME [G] HOME."
(YEA-EAH BACK HOME)
(WO-OH BACK HOME)
Well you’re teaching the chords but not the strumming pattern. How do I know when to strum down and up?
Hi Manny - don't worry about the 'strums' just strum up & down as naturally as you can and concentrate more on getting the chords/chord changes right - it'll all fall into place with a bit of practice ;)
Thanx for commenting - keep on strumming!
Coolio! - You should have a head start then ...
Further response to serpentine220 - I think its basically one of those songs that you can apply any strum you like to it as long as it fits your playing style - its a very easy laid back song that just rolls over and over - hope that helps ... thanks for the comment - I'll make sure that I explain the strumming in the next videos so please keep watching - in fact why not subscribe so you don't miss any ...cheers m8
I found that this is easier to play then the Blitzkreig Bop.
Please email me by clicking on the email button on my shroprock website and I´ll sort it out
having trouble with fingers on d
Keep trying Lisa - it all gets easier after a little practice :)
Essai aussi Mike Lynch... "ukulele mike"
Hi - thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video. The strum pattern I'm using is fairly loose but is basically G -dddu D - du C- du G- du dud for the four lines of the verse then chorus; C - dududu x2 G - dududu x2 D - dudud C - dudud G - dududu however sometimes I tend to play a double speed strum particularly in the chorus, ie same pattern but twice as many strums, if that makes any sense! -

+Chili Monster is the strumming patter the same through out the whole song? (if not, it would help if you could explain the strum pattern for the other parts, as you did the chorus. ) much love!
+Sally Sarah Hi Sally - its really just up down straight strum but you can strum however you feel is most comfortable just try to keep good timing - its much more important to learn the chords and changing smoothly between them, hope that helps - good luck!
Terrible distortion again
the full strum pattern is on the songsheet on my website here
