Inside Sultan's Palace - Hari Raya Brunei

- One of the unique things that Brunei has during Hari Raya Aidilfitri - the Muslim festival celebrated to mark the end of Ramadhan - is the ‘open house’ at the Sultan’s palace, Istana Nurul Iman.
Every year, His Majesty and members of the Royal family hold a meet-and-greet (known as ‘junjung ziarah’ in Malay) with the people, opening the palace to the public for three days. The annual event begins on the second day of Eid, and is open not only to Bruneians but to foreigners and tourists who want to experience Hari Raya in Brunei.

Brunei is such a nice PEACEFUL welcoming country.... i don't know why the world are mostly HATING it.... im sure one of the reason is, they never visited the country and they never experience the peaceful country setting in their lifetime....

😊😊😊😃
Oh shoot! 🤣🤣🤣 didn't expected that lol thanks for coming to Brunei during the first week of Raya Celebration. But hey, please come again soon for His Majesty's Birthday on 15th July😊
Ahahah we are back home now to spend some time with our family and friends maybe next year we will attend it 😊😊
This 15th July is also my birthday 😊
Yea tomorrow is his majesty 73th birthday
@ABDUL RAHIM Happy birthday for tomorrow 😃
I really miss old Raya vibes. Going on raya spree with family relatives. Huge plus when firecrackers used to light up the empty blank skies at night. The vibe is just gone now. Anyways thanks for the video! Good to see your experience during Hari Raya!
You mean in Brunei? What has happened. If you want to feel the firecrackers n fireworks esp on Raya eve go to Kuching, Sarawak. You would be thinking is it Chinese New Year or Hari Raya celebration with the non stop fireworks n fire crackers. From 12 midnight onwards...maybe for one hr. Esp at the kampongs. And it's fun too with the open houses n the famous layered cakes of Sarawak.
@@ftinftin8937 They just don't sell it here no more. Just the "bedil bawang" that looks like miniature onions and the sparkling sticks. Really, i just miss old times. Usually on Raya eves, the takbir would be accompanied (lol) with non stop fireworks! They still do play the big bangs, but not as much as it was back then.
@@ftinftin8937 Going on open houses with relatives is the icing of the cake during Raya. It is fun as heck because you spend much time with cousins much more. We love our "Tapak Kuda" here so much. It is like compulsory to serve it. It is a cake roll filled with Nutella!
Aww, this is very beautiful. I hope to visit it one day and taste the food with these people. Greetings to you from Algeria
The Open House tradition is practised in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, and I think in Indonesia. In Malaysia, open houses are held at the palace hosted by the King, just like in Brunei. It is also held by the prime minister and homes of Malaysians of all walks of life. It is also hosted by political parties, organisations and companies. The Malay tradition has spread to all races in Malaysia to include Chinese New Year by the chinese, Deepavali by the indians, Christmas by christians, and harvest feativals of gawai (in sarawak) and keaamatan (in sabah). This truly a beautiful tradition not practised elsewhere except in this region.
thank u guys for promoting our country!! big hug from brunei and we're hoping we could see u guys again in brunei!!
💛💛💛💛
Wah! Looks like u enjoy ur time here! U make alot of bruneians friends and fans. Next post, Sultan's Birthday celebration pls 😉😂
We are not in Brunei anymore. We are home 😊 maybe next year 😊😃
It’s crazy how many people there know you. Glad you got to interact with the locals there and experience a day of Hari Raya and the traditional malay food. Also love how your pronunciations of the malay words were precise as compared to other foreigners trying to pronounce it
Ahahahha thanks so much, we are always worried that if we try to pronounce something no one will understand 😅
We got to experience a little bit of the malay/bruneian culture and a few ethnic groups 😀
Aww i hope you guys have a good time during your stay at Brunei, im very thankful for this meaningful video and thank you also for visiting my country. Lots of love from us!

Thanks for all the info but we will be home around that time 😃😃
You..you already commented this on the othe video
Thanks you for make this video.. Hope u'll enjoy in brunei.. I really like this video..
You should learn Malay language as Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Indonesia speaking the same language.
We know a little bit but to learn a language we need a little bit more than 2 months plus there’s endless dialects in all of those countries that is difficult to stick with standard Malay 🙃🙃
@@Travelgramers
O I see , even me as A Malaysian couldn't sometime understand the dialect of each country, initially we can learn The Standard Malay because the standard Malay can be understood by the people of these Countries. BTW thanks for the commitment to learn The language
@Unicorn Poop
yes Singapore as well .
There's a little difference for Brunei Malay tho
@@ericalim6269
Yes just a little but if we speak standard Malay it should not be a problem

'Open house' is a norm amongs muslims in south east asia.
Some other ethnic groups in the region have also adopted this unique culture.
It’s such a good idea have an open house and invite everyone 😃😃😃
Yes, especially in Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia .. if you ever visit those country in hari raya, you could visit mostly any houses to get free food
