I’m an extremely priviledged young man from an extremely custodial country. Drank some beers to escape my aches a few weeks ago, slipped this guy some money through PayPal. I hope from the bottom of my heart he gets his album done and even though the demons will always be there I know his music is keeping many of us on guard against ours
Andrew Laney yeah, its a shame how us, the northern folks are raised into a toxic culture when it comes to alcohol. I don’t have that many years of experience when it comes to being an adult but every single one of my friends are fiends, none of them have ever questioned the consequences of booze. Whenever I bring up the fact that we just drink every weekend they shrug and think that it’s normal. Just moved away from it all and I’m feeling hopeful about future.
@@goldeneraofrappio I identify with this. Lots and lots of alcohol, I can't really remember the last time I was sober with my 2 closest friends. Everyone jokes about being an alcoholic, while I'm battling real urges. Welcome to fantastic Norway,

Hayden is a gem, a true artist. He's one of those musicians who make you stop everything to listen to what he has to say. You can feel every emotion he conveys in his songs. Hayden is undoubtedly my favorite lyricist.

HCD/Hayden has very quickly rose to the top of my fave singer/songwriters to play right now, which says a lot considering 2 months ago I'd not yet heard any of his songs. I love everything he does, except for heroin, which I hope he's managing to stay away from. (I've kicked it twice man, you can kick it too, or sooner or later it'll take you.) anyways, he's great, he's awesome, he's talented, blah blah blah, y'all already know... but, man... That emotion is his voice, and that fucking look he shoots the camera at the very end... Goosebumps. So intense. No words for it. Just raw fucking energy. I hope you can conquer your demons. I just discovered this guy and it's heartbreaking watching old videos where sometimes he's clean and sober, then he isn't, then he's doing well again, then he isn't. What a rollercoaster this man is living. I hope he gets better, I hope he stays clean this time.
Agreed. As far as i know he's doing ok now... "rats get fat" has some really cutting lyrics about addiction and that kind of life. Fantastic tune. Also "familiar kind of loneliness" i believe is the name of another cracker on here.. As with many on this channel... Theres authenticity here.
I can’t explain how much I relate to the music this man puts out….. all I wish is he keeps on playing these sounds for my ears because I’m usually as sick as him…. And it helps somehow
Somewhere, there is a person that's in his or her room alone withdrawing from drugs, struggling through it, with this song on repeat helping them through it. Astounding that people give a thumbs down.. I mean, what's up ? This artist is outstanding and the film quality captures it perfectly.. Total thumbs up X a million.
There is something poignant in just saying out loud I'm striving to get better, but I still have to deal with the repercussions of the things that I've done.
Glad to read that Hayden is doing well, and I hope he continues to release great music like this. Thanks to Anthony for starting the Bandcamp so we can follow and support on more than one platform!
I love this man. I had chills from start to finish. He is a champion for mental health and drug addiction. Thanks to him and to gems for introducing me to his music.
I love this dude so much I swear to god I listen to the same 5 songs on repeat..I’ve never clicked on a notification so fast. I feel these lyrics in every part of me. God it’s hard. I just got back on methadone. Hope I can get better one day.
This mans darker music sounds of poetic diary entries of a junkie whos lost and tired of the daily struggle to get well but still holds onto what makes him human; the regret in his voice is an honesty you wouldn't wish upon anyone. His (for the lack of a better word) happier songs can express on times the wonderful high points you have lost in addiction (Sweet Daffodil for example in my opinion) and the tragic hope you can feel in moments of clarity on others. Nicotine and China White has to be one of the best albums I have heard in years. I've been clean eight years as of July 14th this year, it was an uphill battle but very doable. A little luck and a lot of willpower goes a long way. I pray for nothing but peace and prosperity for this man and his, keep working towards a better life and leave a light on for others to find the way brother.
I feel that first part bro. I was a heroin user from 18-34. Ive been on methadone for two years, had my first son and just moved into my first house in Tennessee with my soon to be wife/baby's mom. But still got those repercussions from my using days. Good luck brother man.
God damn man! U have so much raw emotion that comes thru every line u sing! I fucking LOVE EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER HEARD YOU SING/WRITE! Your lyrics & voice, just strike a chord that I can totally vibe w/! Idk if any other addicts (recovering or current) feel the same, but whenever I walk into a room, a show, whatever, etc, we gravitate towards eachother & that is exactly how ur music is for me! It pulls me in! I typically tend to think that addicts r just more interesting & creative people in general, but idk much. I was so upset b/c I was supposed to go to one of the last shows you & Benjamin Tod were playing, I think in Newport, KY, but it was right @ the beginning of COVID-19, & my husband decided we shouldn't go! Ugh. I hate being responsible & I hate being a grown-up, LOL! Anyway, please, please, pretty please, you both need to play a show again ASAP! I am a nurse & I need a break from this COVID shit!
It's a real shame society at this point of time values auto tune singers and rappers over a brilliant singer and songwriter like Hayden he has the ability to evoke strong emotions like the blues singers of time past I hate the fact I live in Australia and will most likely n3ver have the pleasure of seeing and listening to him in person.

And the hunger only grows with every strike through virgin snow
Outlasts the beauty left afar guilty and weeping like a child
But carrying on fear chasing dawn
(Chorus)
Hear the riot in the throes
From the sickly down below
And climb towards the light
Somewhere safe and always quiet
Where no belfry will ever rise
Even if it did all the bells ring silent
(Verse3)
Reeling from the fight against the wicked parasite
Vicious and tethered to my mind steering disease to borrowed time
And grasping the remnants left of faith from all the good folk I've betrayed
So I may feed until my fill and force that boulder up the hill
And strenght that I spent means to an end
(Chorus)
Hear the riot in the throes
Of the sickly down below
And climb towards the light
