- Christmas, 2022. Hayden made a transitional trip from his two year stint in NYC to semi homelessness again. So, why not have him come stay at my treehouse in the middle of nowhere, Tennessee? He stopped by, got snowed in, pipes froze, lost power, and we lost our minds. Nothing like a lake house in the winter. Oh well, at least he got to play this new song for all of you. Hopefully you'll be able to hear this one soon, recorded for a new, much anticipated new album from the Hill Country Devil. He is recording with Justin Dye in New Orleans, at the moment.
Folks always want a Hayden update, so there it is! He fills most of his time drawing and doing guitar lessons, writing new songs and trying to record them. He'd like to be touring from coast to coast, with no permanent settlement. Living on the road will keep you free and clean, they say. Now you wear your skin like iron and your breath's as hard as kerosene, as Townes wrote.

From all the amazing artists this channel allows us to discover in such a beautiful way, Hayden's music has always been my personal favorite. So I'm really excited to hear a new song and to read that he's working on a new album. I've listened so much to his first album in my car, both in happy moments while driving through the mountains, and in sad moments when there seemed to be no way out of endless struggles. It's all just about holding on, and I feel that's the lesson he's offering us through his music. I hope you are both doing well. I'm sending all my gratitude from France, on the other side of this big ocean.

This channel exposed me to two of my absolute favorite artists Hayden, and Benjamin Tod are just on another level when it comes to making music that feeds my soul. The way this man sings his stories, you can feel every part of it like it's a memory. And I believe Benjamin Tod is one of the best songwriters I'll ever get the pleasure of listening too. This is the devil at his best! So much humility, so vulnerable and lyrically powerful as always. The melody, the delivery, the solemness, it’s a song that will save people! The manner in which he offers up the human condition is so important, you can taste the salt in his tears and appreciate his scars, it’s really endearing to witness someone so calloused be so soft. We share atleast one thing in common as when I was younger I was a drifter with no real roots anywhere and Hayden seems to be a drifter also. Good work.

Goddamnit Hayden! Why do your words touch my heart like a ghost of my past coming to take me back?!? This song hits me so hard. Parts of it remind me of conversations with my mom when I was a homeless addict. Other parts remind me of my best friend who was taken by a serial killer while she was trying to turn tricks for dope money.
