I started taking berberine and CoQ10 twice a day about six months ago. I also take gymnema before each meal. I’ve also increased walking a lot and dropped about 30 pounds. I was borderline diabetic and now my blood sugar is normal. A1C is normal. I’ve also noticed my resting heart rate has dropped. Not sure if that’s from berberine or walking… maybe a combination.

@sonofagunn1967 What does the gymnema do? Does it make you feel full sooner?

@@daphnepearce9411 no. It does a similar thing as berberine where it blocks sugar’s effects. It keeps your blood glucose from spiking when you eat.

Berberine - My 10 year history of use as an independent researcher/herbalist.
The primary source I use is Oregon Grape stem and root, (Mahonia). It grows from California to Alaska in rainforest conditions. It can handle very dry conditions due to it's deep interconnecting root system and hard waxy leaves.
I harvest it directly and responsibly. it is best harvested in the late spring when the ground is still wet so the top can re-grow. It is easily identified, has no toxic lookalikes.
I use pruning shears to cut the stems into short pieces and dry to save. The boiling of the tea sterilizes the product and settles out particles. Strain the tea through a coffee filter while hot.
The Color of the boiled and steeped tea determines the strength. A dark urine color is desired. Uncontaminated water sources work best with natural product use. Chlorine and flouride should be avoided.
The benefit of Oregon Grape sourced infusions is evident. As opposed to other sources such as Goldenseal, it does not become toxic with continued use.
Goldenseal use requires a program of 3 weeks on and a week off due to toxicity build up over time.
    Dosage:
The average adult consumes 1/3 - 1/2 cup of this tea three times per day for treatment of infections such as UTIs, oral infections, Cellulitis, H-Pylori related ulcers, Influenza, colds, and other infectious issues. Start at lower doses to allow physical adjustment.
Topical: Oregon grape can be made very concentrated for poultices. It can be combined with Turmeric and Honey in a poultice.
    Accounts of use:
An 87 year old male with aggressive cellulitis.
Following skin cancer removal surgery on his shin, day surgery on a Friday, 4 hours later he observed spreading redness with heat and pain and had pustulant areas at the incision.
As a retired miltary dentist he knew the threat. He took pictures and sent them to his surgeon. His surgeon responded that he would see him on Monday. We shared info with his daughter.
She applied a poultice of Oregon Grape concentrate, Turmeric and Honey. She also gave Oregon Grape 1/2 cup per 8 hours.
4 hours later the inflammation was reducing and itching commenced. He went to bed and slept well.
In the morning the pus was gone, as was the redness and swelling. The incision was healed right over.
When he saw his surgeon on Monday he had the wound care team there, expecting that wound debridement would be required.
He was amazed to see complete healing and mystified by the success of such a natural treatment.

One aspect that is missing in the discussion of Berberine is heart attacks and strokes. Inflamed blood vessels are a major component of heart attacks and strokes involving embolisms. Vascular infections are a component of the disease process of cardiovascular disorders. Correcting vascular infections is profoundly beneficial in reducing inflammatory processes and thus reducing the output of emboli which cause heart attacks and strokes. Simple addition of Oregon Grape root and stem tea once a day as a preventative of vascular infections and subsequent inflammation can only be beneficial for those with cardiovascular diseases.

Other Berberine successes. An 8 year old horse with bleeding ulcers. Having been treated twice by Vets, everything had been tried to save this horse. The vet said that the next bout would result in euthanizing the horse, they had tried everything available.
The horse began a third bout of ulcers and bleeding.
I explained to the owner that she should ask the vet to set up the correct dosage of Goldenseal for the size of the horse on the basis of nothing to lose, they had tried all their medical approaches.
The horse was asymptomatic after 3 days. The 2 weeks of Goldenseal treatment resolved the issue of ulcers for that horse.

Dr Story, could you please investigate and discuss dihydroberberine? I've studied that it could be an even better absorbable form.

I’m currently using Berberine and have found that my appetite has decreased. I’m no longer hungry at mealtimes or interested in food - I’m not complaining! Merely an observation.
As I’m currently doing Intermittent Fasting, I initially thought it was the IF (18:6 window). I’ve quite easily gone a day without eating so have been experimenting with the Berberine (stopped and started over a period of time) to ascertain it is indeed the supplement which has affected my appetite.
    I find it quite interesting!
Now, if only the anti-inflammatory aspect of the supplement would kick in, I’d jump for joy! lol 😉🤗
    Edit:
Berberine Complex (500mg) …… 1 capsule contains 250mg Berberis Aristata extract

I took the 50 mg of COQ10 before the big virus for about 10 years. After the virus last year I switched to 100 mg and my pulse doesn't seem to beat as hard as it use to. There's nothing wrong with my heart and believe me they have tried their best to find something 😅 I will soon be 71 👍

With this product having anti inflammatory effects, could it be helpful for body aches and pains? I'd like to stop taking some many nsaids....

@daphnepearce9411 Yes, but also take 500mg of magnesium citrate with it, and after a month, you'll see a big change.. Also, have your doctor check your vitamin D levels it should be above 30, or you'll have more inflamation that causes a lot of pain and depression and you'll pick up a lot of illnesses... I've been taking D3 1,000 mg a day, and those 3 things together changed my life around for the better...

“Improves” your heart beat?? I don’t understand that. Our hearts beat automatically so why or how is there anything to improve in that space upon natures design? As far as being anti inflammatory and anti bacterial, something that makes you bloated, constipated and have diarrhea doesn’t really reconcile to that claim.

    • @AdamJStoryDC
      @AdamJStoryDC  2 месяца назад +2

maybe you shouldn't take it. When something "improves" it means that it gets better, more regular, stronger. When something gets worse, the opposite occurs. I thought that was clear.

    • @TheQueensWish

@@AdamJStoryDC So you are saying it will strengthen or support in some way your heart muscle, in particular, therefore the heart will perform better? Is that it?
