I really love how these little abstract drawings turned out! The softpastels from Paul Rubens have amazing colors. Also the rock combining is beautiful.
The possibilities for colour combinations are endless! This looked like a lot of fun, I'm going to give it a try. Ohhh they look like an old photo album the way you've taped them into the sketchbook! Paul Reubens ❤
Has a big big fan of Rothko and color field paintings that I also work on myself I love what you did here, it's so wonderful, the layers are really beautiful and those soft pastels are great for the price if they are not lightfast they can be a great addition for training and for working on sketchbooks or for art that you will make prints out of it. Really great thanks for the video. Loved the paintings plus the stones (how amazing are they) Rubens Soft pastels 😉
Such a wonderful video, thank you! I think the color palette is excellent for portraits, which you said the set claims to be it's for if I'm not mistaken. Generally, though, I'd also miss the greens. But I, too, am a huge fan of reds so I'd probably like the set nonetheless. Most important, however, Ilove your impromptu landscapes. 😍
I am always so happy that I found your channel. The rocks + abstract landscapes you created have such beautiful color combinations. You're creativity is incredible : ) You're always teaching me something.
I like how you layered up over the pastel - they are a beautiful scene together, your exploration is relaxing and enjoyable to watch. Paul Rubén’s soft pastel review is a great watch, I have pastel sets but seeing how close some of the colours are and also ones that we wouldn’t choose or use makes me think buying individual sticks is the way to go. Maybe investing in quality not quantity.
Loved the color of these Paul Rubens pastels. And loved to see your process into those thumbnails, I even became motivated to play around with mine a little bit
That was really fun to watch your process, Kriksis. I bought a smaller set of Paul Rubens soft pastels, but I haven’t tried them yet. This inspires me to get them out. I wonder what fixant(?) spray you recommend? Also, I’m curious about the sketchbook with the tissue page - how did you do that? I’m assuming you added the tissue page somehow? Thank you!
Your mini landscapes are gorgeous. They grabbed my attention at first glance on RUclips and I thought 💭 oh... look at this artist! Then recognized--oh.. this is our Kriksis!!! Beautiful interpretation. Love these.
thank you lulabelle! :) Yes, I guess I didn't put title on top of thumbnail as it was covering the landscapes, so I decided to have thumbnail with no words :) Aww thank you!
Paul Rubens soft pastels 😉. I really like that entire palette. I wouls use them on large sheets and maybe paint some doll portraits. That red you don't like would make great lipstick.
The koh-i-noor extra soft pastels are also great and super cheap. I found them to be good quality and I don’t feel nervous using them as so cheap (£30 for 48) although there are some colours that aren’t your colour palate I think most are. Just make sure you get the ones that say ‘EXTRA soft pastels’ as the ‘soft pastels’ are a little scratchy. Oh and I also tried them with water and they worked good. Xx
As an pastel artist I find the color palette interesting, can see how you can do some good portraits with this colour selection. Have never used Paul Rubens, love pastels on the softer side so maybe I’ll give them a go on day. Lightfastness are a problem in the world of pastel. Much less talked about than in other medium community’s, and not all manufacturers have lightfast ratings.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Yes I feel this exact set is supposed to be portrait selection. :) Yes so true! I still don't know if they are lightfast, most probably not really, but I might do a test on windowsill and see.
Haha cosiest blanket? 😎☀🌞😎 Love your paintings Kriksis but they should be framed on a wall together, they are so lovely! Paul Rubens pastels, yay! 💗💖💝💜❤🩹♥💓
Your experimental landscapes are awesome. I love how you layered pastels with them and also the parchment paint. I definitely think they'd make great backgrounds for illustrations. Maybe scan and print them then work over the prints. Whatever you do is wonderful. I have seen others add water and play with them like a watercolour pigment. You could buy individual green soft pastels to fill out your collection if that's something you'd want to do. How did you manage the dust? I love how you selected your own colours of preference. It shows how much you understand which colours you prefer more over others. Thanks for more great content Kriksis. Defs my fave art channel right now. Please keep making videos. You bring a refreshing and unique voice to the RUclips art community. Much thanks. Rachelle, Australia 🦘 x
thank you so much dear Rachelle! It is great idea to scan them and work on top! :) I think this time I might leave as they were. :) Yes so true about green colours! Luckly I have some green soft pastels from Unison and Mount Blank pastel brands :) I am trying to not press so hard to not get it too dusty, but also mixing it with gum arabis or acrylic medium helps to sustain that dust. Awww so happy to be your fav. art channel right now. Im on a brake but soon will come back!
I think these Paul Rubens soft pastels were put together to create beach and earthy sceneries, that's why there are so many reds. Considering your works in this video it seems to look better in mix media. Pastels aren't my favorite medium to use but I can appreciate the artworks.
As I understood they were meant to be a portrait selection, but having made these earthy landscapes I can imagine this set being used for that too. :) thanks!

I have never tried Paul Rubens Soft Pastels. I do like the Paul Rubens watercolor however. Your paintings are gorgeous. I was fun to see your process.

Paul Rubens soft pastels 🎨. I watched to the end 🖐️

Hi, if you want green, you can aply a light layer with blue and yellow and mix greens. Look up markmaking with soft pastels by Karen Margulis.
I think these Paul Rubens soft pastels were put together to create beach and earthy sceneries, that's why there are so many reds. Considering your works in this video it seems to look better in mix media. Pastels aren't my favorite medium to use but I can appreciate the artworks.

A comment from someone on sandi Hester’s youtube channel brought me here.
