@homefultv this episode has at minimum the wrong title and description as their isn’t a single wheelchair lift anywhere it’s not the correct one I am not sure which episode this actually is but it has nothing to do with a wheelchair lift so if you could fix it that would be great
As he says, looks can be deceiving. United, so true. I love how he tells us, always, at the end, how much it all costs. It's unbelievable, but now you know how much it costs to fix it correctly-what should have been done in the first place. Love this, Holmes, make it right!
I remember many years ago in the 1980's, one of the UK's biggest house builders was building an estate in a field opposite my home. The trades were mostly sub-contractors, and one day my Mum got chatting with a guy who'd just walked up from the development. He was a self-employed electrician and had only been on this job for a couple of weeks. He told my Mum this was his last day, as he just quit. The reason, he told my Mum, was because he refused to work to the very low standards this national developer required! Over the years we were witness to many of the problems encountered by the home owners who had no idea how shoddily built these houses were. Yes, you expect a new home to be up to standard, but so often they are not. We got friendly with a couple opposite and about 30 years after buying the house (having had several structural issues in the early years) they decided to get a new worktop mounted electric hob. The local, very reliable, small firm who undertook the job told them they were very lucky not to have been electrocuted as the original hob had been wrongly wired. It makes you wonder...
good episode but i think whoever is uploading the videos may need to double check the videos they are uploading matches the name and discription of the vids. not the first time ive seen the difference
Cordless electric bread knife, has blunt tip and slices through foam insulation like butter. Also, foam wire cutter (it’s hot though) works well too. My fav is electric knife and also use to cut bat insulation for installs
Over 500k and didn't last 5 years. In a half million-dollar house it should be built with the best of everything. I prefer a smooth ceiling, but I can't see the patched. (Amazing work)
@@ronbennett7885 I wonder if the builder and these people that such shameful, lazy, and cheap work do they have any embarrassment or do they even care they do such a horrible work. It's sad if they don't show some good standard of to take pride in their work.
I bet the stuff in our house barely meant met minimum code for it. The croak is bad as it quickly. Is it dead? You do good work mike you do real good work
Unfortunately there’s no such thing as cheap materials anymore. Allot of building supplies especially bathtubs and vanities post covid are absolute junk and expensive. Everything I bought at Lowe’s to remodel a bathroom was absolute junk!
Sweet family. As a photographer who specializes in working with families with special needs, I've photographed many children and young adults with Downs, and I never would have guessed that boy had Downs, I would have thought it was autism.
she 100% correct-with a child with a disability, your life is ALREADY complicated, more challenging, more expensive, and SUPER busy! This is from experience. They don't need more issues in their lives. AND the money they paid for it should be PLENTY to not have issues with the home.
I really wish that they would call out the builder on this one. No one wants to buy a house for that kind of money and have it fall apart because of "crap" quality.
I think the biggest thing is when you moving into a place like that you talk to the people living around in similar houses first. Especially if all the houses are around the same age and done by the same builder. And fact that all those places went out of business probably means they were linked somehow as well. I think the fact that a builder can set warranties should never happen considering they are placing placing pieces into a puzzle. They are not building the windows or ovens or lights. They are making room for them so those warranties should be active plus if you have proof you have been calling about a warranty and proof that they kept canceling then you should be able to use that to sue. Above anything dotn be an idiot and not talk to the others in the area about any problems they may have had or not had with houses that are mass produced.
THIS is exactly why I wouldn't want a new house, even if it were given to me. I'd want WW2 era and before, before quality took a back seat to speed of building. Modernity sucks! Must be my age. So be it. 😊
True, but the knob and tube wiring was still being installed in many homes then. The electric retrofit is not cheap... The fabric coated wires were the upgrade at that time. I have to replace all of my wiring... Sigh...
@denisegaylord382 I do understand. I'd easily replace all of the wiring and plumbing in an older house to have the quality of the construction. But that's just me. We're all different.
@@angelbulldog4934 I understand. And I am agreeing with you. An older home was more solidly built. My current residence was built in the late 30's(?) It was built completely out of cinderblocks. In a time when just having a roof over head was a blessing. So wiring was added after electrification came to our area. But by today's standards, it is junk. But it is replaceable...
I only hope that the people who live here are paying for these repairs and not the advertisers making us the viewers the ones who pay for it in the long run. These people are well off financially and should be paying for it. Why can't you HomefulTV people help people who really need it and can't afford it that would impress me a lot NOT these videos.
And not a single Wheelchair Lift was seen in this episode
Agreed and the description doesn’t match either. Definitely an editor error. 🇨🇦

No wheelchair lifts or pigeons were harmed in the making of this episode.

It's worse than that. Bought around 2008 (2013 - 5). When adjusted for inflation, would be closer to $1 million Canadian now.

I could see a class action lawsuit against the builder... I hope they did and won.
The house price mentioned was 580,000 in 2007 and I looked up this property which is in Oakville and it recently sold for 1,850,000 in January 2024.

My guess is they accidentally put up the wrong episode instead of the $17,500 Wheelchair lift one
not the first time
Heart breaking seeing all that 5-year-old material filling up the dumpsters.

i have to ask....what is that white box on the balcony where the birds are staying? what does it do?
It's called a scupper drain. Water flows in from the balcony deck and is directed to the gutter below it.
