Hi Ms. Lisa, I’m from Singapore (Indian)... this one month of lockdown has made me learn a new language and thank you for keeping it so simple and easy to understand the we grown ups... Keep continuing the good amazing job 👍 Look h forward to understand Malay fluently with the help of you🙂
Thank you for the videos! I just found your channel and it has been very important in my learning since I moved to Malaysia from Mexico! Keep the good work!
Got my pen and paper ready to write everything down and got to the 4:12 mark of the video and realized my paper is empty, you do an amazing job of teaching but your so fine my eyes were glued to the screen and I forgot to write stuff down lol, hopefully I'll be moving to Malaysia sometime this year (if covid allows it) so really appreciate your channel, you have a new fan
Thank you so much for your videos! I just came back from KL with my daughters and I was trying my first attempt at BM and was so satisfied that I was confident to try. I’m going back to KL in three months but I am sad that I won’t be with my lovely daughters
Tharima Kasir... Lisse. Thank You very much!. I started your lessons and it is really going well. the way you explained is very nice! Easy to grab. Now i can count anything! Thanks again!
Must Read Please Need another session on Common Usage of Word like So far, May might, Wether, Either, Whenever, Whatever, Whichever, However, Therefore and also Common Words, like , To, For, From and like that. Thanks
You can say : "kosong perpuluhan enam" . Zero = Kosong, point(.)= titik perpuluhan, 6= enam. But we shorten this to " kosong perpuluhan enam. Centimetre in Malay is sentimeter. KOSONG PERPULUHAN ENAM SENTIMETER.
our bahasa have similarities but different spelling and letter like sapuluh duwapuluh telupuluh. gatus-ratus/magatus-seratus, ngibu-ribu/sangibu-seribu, giuta-juta/sagiuta-sejuta
I have a question, Lisse. Even though you can pronounce 10, 11, and 100 as Sebelas, Sepuluh, Seratus, would it also be correct to write it this way? Thank you!
I keep forgetting 8 and 10 for some reason at times I forget 7 but never 9. haha I'm weird that way. I guess with practice and your vids i can learn them straight until it is second nature.
Tristian Dong Hi Tristian, it's already explained in the video between 1:00 to 1:30. The rule is you can directly translate numbers from English to Malay. So if it's 21 you want, then it is twen(ty) one. Dua (puluh) satu. The puluh stands for the -ty in English.
Late to the party but really enjoying this video series Lisse. How would you say your birth year in Malaysia? In the UK we'd say nineteen-eighty five (for example) but I know in French I would say one thousand nine hundred and eighty five.
It's the same format as the UK! 1985, we commonly say "sembilan belas, lapan puluh lima" as in nineteen-eighty five. But it's a different case with years starting from 2000. We say it as "dua ribu", which is two thousand. As it goes up, 2021 for example, we do not say " twenty-twenty one". We say it as "dua ribu, dua puluh satu" as in two thousand, (and) twenty one.
Question: how would a local say 1759 is it "seribu tuju ratus lima pulu sembilan" or " tuju belas ratus lima pulu sembilan" or "satu tuju lima sembilan" or simply "tuju belas lima pulu sembilan" ? I mean thse words are quite lon g, is there a any variation, locals adopt orally to avoid saying these long words?
Hello, great question! 1,759 is like the first one you said - Seribu (a thousand) tujuh ratus (seven hundred) lima puluh sembilan (fifty nine). You CAN say Satu Tujuh Lima Sembilan (One Seven Five Nine) in some cases, like if someone is taking down a number and you're reading it to them. The rest are wrong and confusing, so chuck em.
its the same as english, example= 987,543, in english, nine hundred, eighty seven thousand, five hundred, and forty three in malay language =sembilan ratus, lapan puluh tujuh ribu, lima/lime ratus dan empat puluh tiga/tige dan means and.....haha... funny because it just the letter's position change
hi, firstly thank you for the videos they help too much,, but i have a question , in the previous video you said the words finish with 'a' becomes 'uh' ,, why then 'lima' doesnt become 'limuh'?

Hi, thanks heaps Lisse, May I ask how to say 21-31 and etc in Malay, is there any rule on this? Because number seems to be kind of special

Very informative 💕💕💕🇵🇰
very nice
I want your to teach me chinese language
Ma'm, How to right one lakh (100,000) in Malay?
One hundred thousand = Satu Ratus Ribu =100, 000
One hundred ten thousand = Satu Ratus Sepuluh Ribu = 110,000
Hi Lisa, I guess Puluh is not the translation of "Ty". Puluh is ten, Sepuluh is one ten, Dua Puluh is two tens, etc.
Haha you're probably right! Thanks!
except ten but twenTY thirTY some still mean -ty
I want to learn malay in uni and this is so helpful thank you so much!
Question: how would a local say 1759 is it "seribu tuju ratus lima pulu sembilan" or " tuju belas ratus lima pulu sembilan" or "satu tuju lima sembilan" or simply "tuju belas lima pulu sembilan" ? Thank you for always being there to help.
Hi. Is that okay to read "juta" as "jute"? Or it's an exception and wrong?
the right pronunce is "juta' not "jute"
Hi, can you please teach me how to use numbers in sentences. I already saw the video of making sentences.
its the same as english, example= 987,543, in english, nine hundred, eighty seven thousand, five hundred, and forty three
in malay language =sembilan ratus, lapan puluh tujuh ribu, lima/lime ratus dan empat puluh tiga/tige
dan means and.....haha... funny because it just the letter's position change
You tell me how to count 130
Thanks for explaining with breeze.
Hi Sierra, what is zero in malay?
Hello! It's 'kosong'!
Kosong
• has a wide range of meanings, other than number zero, can also means empty, void, null, vacant etc.
And use it in roti
❤
I am from India
juta is pronounced jutaa? or jute?
Juta is pronounced Jutaa
