    Well thanks to Valerie for sending you this piece of Maple Burl which we now know is such a beautiful piece of Burl. We know this because you have exercised your Midas touch once again for our benefit. Quick & easy maybe but you have made it into a superb little bowl. I love the 'Feed n Wax' finish, I always do. I watch a channel called 'flippingdraws' by a Dutch chap living in England. He does some great furniture restoration from 'rubbish' & he uses 'Feed n Wax' constantly. Great bowl, great video but sorry to hear you have been a little unwell. Glad you got back into your shop where all your viewers need you to be. Take care mate & cheers, Don from South Australia.

    The spalting in a piece of wood is so pretty. Then when you’re able to leave natural edge with it makes it look great.

    Howdy Phil. Glad that you are feeling better. That's a wonderful bowl you made. Nice spalting. Thanks to Valerie for sending it to you. I'm not sure I could turn loose of a nice spalted burl like that. The matte finish suits it I think. It's very complimentary and not competing for looks as a glossy finish would. It's good to see you back in the shop turning but don't over do things. Take care and rest up. Bill Riley.

    Hi Phi, I hope you’re feeling better. I mostly am. Just have the end of a cold annoying cough. Man oh man! I love this! (and not just because of the F&W. 😉) I can see all types of things in it. A dragon, a grizzly bear head, a cartoon dinosaur, a Clone Trooper helmet and more. It’s awesome! Sorry for the late comment, being sick and dealing with my mom have worn me out. My mom is home from the hospital. Not doing so well. Doesn’t need hospice yet, but we will, oops, I mean, I will, 🙄😐, be setting up palliative care. Have a great rest of your week!     I hereby crown you King of Punk(y) Spalt. You handled it beautifully, and made it look easy to turn. (When we know it is not easy to turn smoothly). Glad you are feeling better enuf to play in the shop. Hope you continue to improve and get back to full strength. I know how hard and frustrating it is to not be able to work in the shop.     Hi Phil, I'm now the proud owner of a Bench Grinder, a Belt Sander, a Dremel, to do the wood and metal work I'm into, from 36 grit to 1,000 grit. Most importantly, thanks to you, Mask and Face Shield always on. It looks like I'll have to purchase a large shed to make a workshop. I have the water and electric ready for hook-up. I love what you made out of that Maple Burl. I am partial to very high shine, but your piece turned out very nicely with the darker finish

    Phil, when you showed us the piece it reminded me small scale example mountain range.
    The finished piece I still see the topography of a valley surrounded by a mountain range. Nice turning.
