What's up, everyone! So today's video is a bit different from my normal talking-head/ tutorial style, attempting to teach you something about data science :). I've been thinking about making this video for a while, as I'm nearing the end of my study. As you probably noticed in some of my older videos I mentioned my BSc Computer Science study next to work, and that's what this video is all about :). I'm sharing here my story of how I came to do that, my motivation, strategies, and some fun demos of what I have created during my study. I hope you found this video entertaining and somewhat informative ;). And, don't forget to check out the nerdy gifts at the end of the video! ;) Thank you for watching!

Is have started a the same CS degree at the UoL. I am approaching 34 years old and have two young kids and a full time job. I decided to aim to finish the degree in 4 years instead of 3. As you say, you have to do what works for you and make sure you balance everything.

I was 29 when I got accepted in UMich's MADS programme - wife was a couple months pregnant back then. It was intense for the first few months with fulltime work (senior software engineer for a media company here in NZ) with lots of overtime + course deadline, hubby responsibilities (driving my then pregnant wife to work), and paying off the mortgage. When the little one was born, I had to take a break, winter semester, to spend time with the little one, but boy did I miss coursework. I can totally relate - I've been a nerd since I was a kid and will always have a soft spot for data science ever since I was introduced to a simple classification algorithm back in 2012.

Hi Freddie, yes all the lectures are available from the beginning of the semester so you can study completely on your own pace.

@@freddiegroom2667 I worked full-time the first year and then found it was a quite bad idea haha. Since the 2nd year I've been working 90%, having one extra part of the day to relax and study really helped. But I think towards the end of the study that was not quite enough. For some semesters I felt quite in control of the deadlines, but many times I have crunch periods. It really depends on the semester and how demanding the exams/ assignments are, and how busy it turned out at my work 😅
