I started to use her tips and tricks and when i wasn’t in the mood to study, i watched her videos. they motivated me as she made it look so fun and created this very romanticised version of it in my head. last week, my o level results came out and i passed with flying colours; all A stars! faye, i have never commented on your videos but today when i saw you upload, i just felt like i owe you a thank you.

I remember being one of the honor students in my High School, and I always feel proud to make my parents happy. Yet as I grew older, I feel my life getting duller until I hit my Senior High School year. I lost my motivation to study because I feel pressured by my parent's expectations, and the majority of my classmates are top students, which makes it even harder for me to stay positive.
I lost contact with my old friends since our section has separated due to our courses, so I barely have any friends in my new class. By the time my father is elected as the class president, I feel even more pressured because my thoughts immediately went to "Will they expect me to be like my father?" and everything went downhill. I feel used because I'm one of the students who always have any stationary materials for school, yet by the time I need their help, they will just ignore me. I feel jealous of people who are able to do anything they want, like choosing their own course. I really want to transfer because I feel suffocated in my classroom, and I developed trust issues with them. I barely enjoyed my teen days.
Now that I've entered college, I feel my mental condition is getting worst because of procrastination, and I easily get distracted by Social media since it's my only escape from reality. I can't even choose my own course just because I'm undecided. I want to pursue my passion for arts, yet I'm forced to solve complex math questions that I don't want to do. I can't even talk about my problems to my parents, especially the depression that I'm starting to have because they always have this toxic mindset of "What do you mean depression? You have everything in your life! You have the privilege to eat delicious foods, sleep with a comfortable bed, a prestigious school to attend; everything that the children will die to have!". It put so much pressure on me despite that I knew that the words they said is true, yet I can't find myself to be happy with the situation that I currently had. I love them, but it's not enough for me to tell them my problems.
I want to be a better person while managing my lifestyle to be a healthy one. Yet, I don't know how to start it because I can't find the motivation to do it, and I feel myself falling deeper into depression. I don't know who to rely on... because I feel they won't understand the feelings that I've kept to myself from these past years, and I don't want to pressure or burden them.
I'm sorry that you'll have to read this depressing comment because the video is supposed to help us rather than making it more depressing. Although, I feel thankful that you gave your time to read this and it comforts me. Even though you skipped it, I just want to let my feelings out.
Thank you Faye for your affirming words that helped me and other people, and I hope that I can set my life on the right track 💜

The moment i started to read your comment i felt like i am reading my own story.
Back in school i used to top in my class all the time. And being in a brown household where everyone of my family members are extremely brilliant in whatever they study it feels like i also have to be like them. During the pandemic i realised that i really have no friends and that hit me so hard . All of my school friend used to befriend just for their benefits. I was extremely extrovert but now when i got into college i can't even stand the sight of ppls in my class. I don' have any friends and neither i want one now. And these family problems got the best of me to put me in hole of depression. I feel like i am in a confined place where there is no lights or not a single soul to hear my cries. I hate when i see these students in my class cause most of them are toppers and i can't help myself to get back to studying. Lying on my bed 24/7 with mobile and shutting up from everyone. Sometimes it feels like there is no way out of this situation. It is so terrible that i don even know how to express it within words. Family members pressured me to take science instead of arts cause they say as a woman arts is no good for me i jave to do meds or shit like this..and when i told them its bcz of them i failed in my test they would immediately play the victim card upon me as i am the one who should be thankful to them for letting me study in an expensive school and not marrying me to some guy already bcz thats how asian parents are lol..no one wants to hear this side of me..at this point suicide sounds good atleast

oh my !!! I find you both soo relative to myself. i know how this is. I know right this is hard. I feel so sorry. I wish i was there near you so that i could be there 4u. my story is also like y'all yk I was a topper since i was little so everybody around me has such high expectations for me.and im so scared im gonna face my boards and what if i disappoint them. i cant get to sleep properly due to all this negative thinking. during exam days i find it so hard to sleep. so ill go back and revise. and yeah my class is stuffed with toppers and there another fear too. i know right its hard but we wont let this finish us off right we gonna show them the things we can do. the challenges we can take.and we are not gonna stop it here we will win and we will reach at the top and its only then we will stop. im so sure that botha u will be able to make it. be positive alright ? be happy, wishing you all the good in this world✨

    • @wmebby
      @wmebby Год назад +36

@@julietteferrars0 it's really so frustrating..i can't even get back to study. It's been 6 months since i studied for real. Like no i would always go sit in my study table and think and think and always THINK. And all of em are so thoughtless smtm that ut feels someone is trying to suffocate me to death..
It feels good when i get to talk to someone who understands me but irl there is no one who would say that it's okay and stuffs to reassure me.. they would just laugh at my face saying wdym by you are depressed or anything u are just a 17 yr old girl who is gettin everything in their age where no one is much in that position so i should be haply and repay them by giving me an oh so beautiful life.
They are so sick or am i??
Now i am numb to any kind of emotion. Even if my mom cries infront of me i don' feel anything for them yet i pity myself for being born in a world where they are talking about the things everyone should normalise..they themselves aren't doing that..
I am just a lil happy that i found someone that has the samw sob story as me:)
And sorry for the errors in my writing my english not really good lmao

It's really nice to see everyone commenting here and I feel less lonely, knowing that I'm not the only one who is going through this situation :'D
I feel so relate to what you guys said earlier and I hope that our problems will be resolved soon,(❗TRIGGER WARNING❗) cuz as @rah said earlier, the dark thoughts are flying on my head sometimes.I even have these scenarios which can be really fked up, so it's really hard to rely on someone irl because talking about your problems right in front of someone is hard. I can't tell what is going on inside their mind and I sometimes it's hard to read their expressions because I tend to be oblivious to someone's action since I rarely social, which makes it harder for me to express my thoughts as I continue to coop by myself.
Yet, I appreciate it that y'all read my comment and thank you for your support :')))
I wish I can cry but I can't cuz I'm just so tired of everything. Also, thank you @Lilyyy for your affirming and supporting comment, I hope everything goes well to you(#^.^#) and I hope everything will be alright to you too @rah (✿ฺ´∀`✿ฺ)ノ also, your grammar is okay and it's understandable :))

My junior year, I decided enough was enough and started working to improve not only myself academically, but mentally. I retook like 10 classes and worked my ass off in my current ones. Next thing I knew, by the end of senior i ended up graduating with a 3.4 GPA coming from a 1.8! Definitely not a top student 😂, but god was it satisfying seeing my hard work pay off. I finally had the friends and support i needed.

Thank you so much for this amazing video! It really helped, and even sparked more ideas for me to write down notes for. ❤
To answer your question at the end of the video, I would really love to work on my confidence. I'm constantly feeling that I'm not good enough and that no-one wants me around.
I feel that if I were to have confidence in myself, I would have much more motivation to continue through every hard time. I would be able to remind myself that I'm amazing, and that my autism only makes me stronger. I'm currently struggling with the feeling that I won't ever have the ability to make it through until the end of high-school, and adulthood just purely scares me.

So hello to my lazy and unproductive self, I hope we can improve by starting to believe in ourselves that we can do this rather than coming up with excuses and always that "later" attitude. We have witnesses how much college is draining us and how much we sorrowed how our current self is much more different that our highschool self, we triumph in those days BUT please remember that's our highschool self, we are much more different in college. A new start, a naw place and a new place to conquer, stepping towards our dreams. Let's believe in ourselves that we can do it. We can still grow and ace.

The one thing I see a lot of these type of channels say that I think is true is that getting yourself to start or make just a tiny bit of effort is key. Like her saying "even if you just start researching 5 minutes"... sometimes you have to tell yourself "I'm just doing a draft" or "I'm just going to spend 5 min" or "I just need to skim this first" will get the momentum and prime your mind without scaring you out of it. On bad days it will just be a bit of effort and then stop and that's ok, on good days you'll feel like doing more. In my job I also have to do things like say "this doesn't need to be perfect, it's just an email to friendly colleagues, or a draft of notes" in a job at least 50% of what you do can be half-assed because it's more about progress and communication. Then some smaller fraction actually needs to be pollished.

dont worry bout me just listing this for me
    1. Write everything down - hw, projects, assignments etc
    2.plan essays
    3. Write to do lists
    4. With digital notes - summarise, paraphrase, quiz, research, revise
    5. Always write down anything you don’t understand and follow up with your teachers on it
    6. Always go to help classes or intervention
    7. Trial and error to make your best study routine
    8. Track everything - rank all topics in your subjects by their difficulty and revise the ones with higher priority before exams
    9. Feed your curiosity - always ask why for EVERYTHING, this helps you to explain things
    10. Don’t just study - other activities helps you with time management and prioritisation
    11. Start knowing your teachers and lecturers - arrange meetings, talk to them after class

Hi Faye! I'm 15 and your videos and tips have changed me so much from someone who procrastinates a lot to someone who solves maths equations even if she has 5 minutes of free time. I sincerely THANK YOU for that.

Glad I stumbled upon this now Faye! I have my second round of exams in 6 weeks and I need to learn to be more productive and less wasteful with my time. Watching your videos have also calmed my nerves about studying, as it overwhelms me easily (probably because I barely do it) and I totally agree with the teacher comment.
I build fantastic relationships with each teacher every year and it helps me to ask questions a lot, I do suggest this if you are a socially awkward butterfly like myself ^^
    Thanks again

I am about to go to highschool and Ive never taken school seriously. I've always been a B student (with occasional A's) and I really want to turn that around to get into the college I want to be at! I know that Faye knows what she is talking about and she practices what she preaches, which proves that she can help me in the future! Thx Faye 🥰

I've been reflecting on my unproductiveness for a while now, thinking about my procrastination makes me genuinely sad. But I don't stop wanting to change, and videos like this are bringing the motivation that I've been trying to bring to myself for a long time, I'm happy for that. I'll try to follow the tips, I'll do my best, the future is something that scares me, but you can't expect good things when you don't even make an effort for it, right?
So I have to cut some really, really bad habits and focus on what's really important. Of course, without forgetting to take breaks and moments of leisure. But also, remembering that there are always pending activities, (As a student).
Thank you so much for the video, and sorry for the bad English. Maybe I'll start trying to improvise my English too. 😸

I am currently in college and taking online classes and you have motivated me to go back to campus. Personally, I find it easier to ask questions when there is a group of students rather than a one-on-one with an instructor. I have to agree with you on making excuses. I learned this in my first year of middle school and it improved not only my grades but myself. It made me become more aware of things I can and cannot control which also helped my stress.
I appreciate your channel as I find it informative and motivating me to do my work. ✏ ✏ ✏
