If you’re looking into higher education as a mature student, it’s worthwhile knowing that both Open University and University of London offer fully online bachelor degrees, but in the UK they also grant certificates (equal to a whole first year of university) and diplomas (equal to two years of study). British schools grant a bachelors in 3 years because they usually don’t require a first year of all around basics (I.e. if you study history they won’t make you do maths, and if you’re in science they won’t make you take literature). Unlike US schools, the price is just vastly more affordable. I wish you every good wish in your admirable pursuit of higher education because it really never ever is too late! Consider looking into Open University because busy adult learners are their specialization and they have loads of options from computer sciences to earth sciences to the humanities 😊

I'm 30 with an MBA in finance, just finnished the Google Data Analytics Certificate, and hunting for that job. I find project-based learning and free online self-learning the most beneficial, but I'm still considering the MS in CS option since it really bugs me everytime I see a job post requiring a degree in CS.
Hey Abdallah, yeah I can feel your pain.. 😅 Jobs requirements are so excessively demanding in this field. But you can't go wrong with the project-based learning and self-learning on the side. All the best! 🍀
@@Thuvu5 Yeah! Btw I've recently discovered your channel and it's my favorate on this subject so far! I share similar background and looking to move to the Netherlands as well 😅. All the best for you too! 🌻
What kind of jobs are you looking at that require a degree in CS? Finance, data analytics, data science? Btw, her conclusion was spot on and is super relevant to you. Since you already have a bachelors, MBA, have done self-learning and got your own certificates, I don't know if it's really worth going back to school just to get a Computer Science degree on paper. I think as an employer, I would be more impressed if you learned what you needed to learn on your own online and applied what you learned by building your own software project. Of course there's a very high risk that you get lost while learning on your own. Companies requiring a degree in CS are probably not worth working for, unless you are really interested in a niche area that requires a masters in CS.
@@abedberro You can pursue a Masters in Computer Science with no background or knowledge in Computer Science? So what's the difference between a Masters and a Bachelors in Computer Science then?

This bachelor's program seems to be an ideal one to combine with a full-time job. Thank you so much!
Oh what a feat! Congrats on your Masters degree and your new job 🎉🥳. Yeah I think a CS degree like this down the line could be fun to do! I did have to work part time (90%) in my second year tho, just to get enough rest and down time 😅. I’d highly recommend taking some parttime or more holiday if money is not a problem
Thanks for the review Thu It is very interesting the fact we can study a whole BSc from some of the best universities from our homes. Moreover, it seems pretty compatible with a full-time job from what you say in the video. Carlos.-

@@mm1234bb The quality of the material and tutorials is good. The course is heavy on Math and statistics heavy. That's good as that's what the fundamentals are about. Applications like tableau and theory behind visualisation are missing. However these can be learned separately.

It might be a little late for the videos, btw appreciate your work, very informative. Otherwise, I have some questions about the course: 1. How about when you've struggled with your work, are there any direct support from professors? 2. About the interaction of the platform, I wondered if it were the same as Udemy or other online-learning platforms, how is the interaction between the learners and teachers, between learners.
Hi Thu Vu, thank you for sharing this. My background is in Accounting, Tax and, more recently, Econometrics. I am preparing for an MBA in Business Analytics at MIT in 2024 (Data Science). I follow the Tim Ferris 3 book rule and search for the 1% of top thought leaders books. I have the two books you recommend for Data Visualization but need the 3rd one, " How to create effective charts and diagrams". I have googled, ducked and cannot find this book anywhere, even Microsoft Education. Please help if you can. Thanking you in anticipation. Kind regard Richard Johannes Cape Town, South Africa
since u mentioned apis, some apis even have not working code examples or like youtube they tell you you can make a request without using oauth and use an api key instead but there is no explaination how to do so and no code eample for only api keys or they call the same things by different names (yt explorer here and dashboard there) and sometimes things like the dashboard are linked when mentioned in the docu and sometimes they are not and you have to scroll back up or down... yt api documentary was a pandoras box for me, in the end i found everything i wanted to know on stackoverflow...
Oh yes, you're absolutely right haha! Whenever I come across a complete and well-written API documentation I so deeply feel grateful for the people who wrote it 😂
Thank you so much for the video! Was it difficult to maintain high GPA? I consider Masters as an option sometime in the future (which would require a high GPA). Do you think the degree is reputable enough for the employers, did the students struggle to find jobs after the completion of the degree? Thanks in advance!🙏
BS is a better foundation than MS if you have no formal training in Computer Science. The very nature of MS programs is only to review foundational topics even when they say they will provide an introduction. It's impossible to cover foundational and advanced topics in one two-year MS program.
The overall courses are the same in the masters and bachelor's? And in the masters do they start the foundational topics from an entry level point or just assume you know everything and just go through problems?
Hi Chi! what a great and insightful content indeed. I was just curious if there would be any differences in Bsc certificate for those who done it via online and direct (local). Thank you🙏🏻
@@Thuvu5 it really does. thanks for your prompt response chi. i’m currently living in UK, but i came from Band A country😅. the fee difference is a lot, almost £4k. Do you think would that be any problem if i took Band A? sorry too much question.

HI Thu! love your videos, they're extremly informative and concise also. I honestly appreciate all the effort you put into them! I wanted to aks you if you could please tell me wich book is the one you're using for statistics, the one that appears in your "Data Analysis: How Much STATISTICS Do You Need to Know?" video, I am trying to find a good one to start learning but there are tons of books out there, it'd also be great if you could do a video talking about the books you used for your degree and for Data Science as well! thanks!
Aw thank you so much for such kind words! I truly appreciate it! I believe I added the links to the Math books in that video's description, so if you scroll down you can see them. For my CS degree I had a bunch of text books, mostly quite standard boring textbooks but quite comprehensive. I'll link some here: Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications amzn.to/3c4qqze, Foundation Maths amzn.to/3OZgcPd, Linear Algebra: Step by Step amzn.to/3aqFIhl. Hope this helps!
Hey, Thanks for your effort! Had you been thinking back then to take more than 1 specialization? Do you reckon it is doable? AI and physical computing, for example, would make a very solid toolbox up. Regards, Jan.
Hey Jan, yeah if you want to spend more time at school, that's totally doable ;). I'm in that state of considering that as well.. or not having any specialization at all and you just pick whatever you like. I'm not sure if someone can have more than 1 specialization though, at least on the degree paper.
Hello, first of all, I find your video very interesting. Thank you for taking the time to do a great job. I have a question which is the following: How many courses did you take per semester? In other words, for between 20 and 30 hours a week, how many courses can you take without being too stressed? Thank you in advance.
Listening to everything makes me doubt whether I can do it without any background in maths or data science. I have recently completed my Google Analytics Data Science course, and my goal is to secure a job as a data scientist overseas. However, being 34 years old, I wonder if I am too old for this career path
You are never too old to start university, just do it. In 3 years, you will be 37 anyway , so why not be 37 with a degree ? Plus ,you will be able to earn more with the degree 😊 Good luck 😊
I’m an online student now in UOL but I study psychology degree, my main problem is that I can’t find other students in the site to communicate with them so I’m not sure how to socialize with other peers
Thanks sooooo much for the review. This Question Is Very Important For Me :If my Undergraduate Degree is From an Online College like coursera Can I Attend a Traditional University for my Master’s Degree?
It is very concerning that no one wants to answer this question. I'd also want to know if one can pursue offline masters in Netherlands or Germany or any other Western EU country after completing this online degree. Especially if you want to move to another country for masters, then work abroad after completing it, this detail can be the most important thing to consider.
Thank you for sharing your experience. What do you think about the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science? Do you think it's worth it if I'm trying to break into the tech industry?
Thank you very much for sharing your experience! It is very useful to many people! And is it a good idea to study this online program after school (as a first degree)?
It's not an online degree by itself, that's the thing. It's a degree like any other, you can do it online if you want to. And of course you can do a masters or PhD after that, but the best thing is that the degree itself is not recognized as an 'online degree' just a regular bachelor's degree from the university of London so employers won't know if you went to study physically there or not and even if they knew you wont have the stigma that comes with having an online degrees (employers tend to think online degrees are worthless compared to a "real" degree) It's very flexible you can finish it in 3 years while working full time job. It is less than 460 pounds per month there are more expensive degrees here in Uruguay so Imagine... I would like to find a less expansive degree from a decent university but yeah, it's kinda hard honestly.
Yea that's insane, insanely cheaper compared to on-campus fees in the US which are 10x the price. You're literally getting the same content, just online. The only thing ure missing out is campus experience, connections, facilities and live events. Content is the same or even better coz of production quality.
While all your points are valid, I believe this video is misleading in terms of communication with the students - she mentions how some of the modules are redundant. May I ask how she knows that the student support were overwhelmed with student questions and requests… (sounds to me like you were told to say that). There’s still a lot a unanswered request by students. For a reputable uni, you mention how the uni is learning on the way and how some course module had issues or were not even COMPLETE YET? Why is it on the coursera platform and been sold for that price (£17,000) This just shows there’s a lack of accountability from the university and it should not be open to the public for that price. Lastly, did you graduate and get a transcript from the university? If you did kindly do a video showing this. -Thanks
Hello, thanks for the video and all the knowledge shared. I have a question regarding teamwork and getting to know your teammates. Did you do group work? Were there video call meetings to do the projects? Or was everything presented individually? I have a good experience as a Bootcamp graduate doing team coding projects and I would like to study for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in the near future. I would like to know if that component of teamwork, asking your peers and working with them on projects was part of your experience in the University of London degree program? Thank you!
Hi Valeria, yes you do have teamwork in some modules. Some of the project assignments are group assignments. We mostly use Slack for communication and chatting with team members. If they live nearby you can meet up in person too of course
Hey was the bootcamp more focused on projects rather than learning the material and how much instructor support was there? I think both has their pros and cons.
Thanks for sharing! I am looking into doing this exam same bachelor degree and I also live in the Netherlands, how many hours a week did you work during the degree? i understood you went onto reducing from 40 hours a week to 32 is that right? :)

@Abdallah Berro MS in CS after MBA, do you have a bg in CS or can one pursue CS without any bg at all?
So what's the difference between a Masters and a Bachelors in Computer Science then?
your information is helpful and I've just received my offer as a performance-based admission. let's hope for the best. please keep making videos related to computer science. you have my support.

Very inspiring! The video is very informative and helpful! Thank you Thu for sharing your experience and information. I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in stats and DS, and I am going to start my full-time job in this Sept. Meanwhile, I am thinking of getting a CS degree. This bachelor's program seems to be an ideal one to combine with a full-time job. Thank you so much!
Oh what a feat! Congrats on your Masters degree and your new job 🎉🥳. Yeah I think a CS degree like this down the line could be fun to do! How are you finding the course quality?
@@mm1234bb The quality of the material and tutorials is good. The course is heavy on Math and statistics heavy. That's good as that's what the fundamentals are about.
Applications like tableau and theory behind visualisation are missing. However these can be learned separately.

It might be a little late for the videos, btw appreciate your work, very informative. Otherwise, I have some questions about the course:
1. How about when you've struggled with your work, are there any direct support from professors?
2. About the interaction of the platform, I wondered if it were the same as Udemy or other online-learning platforms, how is the interaction between the learners and teachers, between learners.
Does udemy have support from the professors/teachers? Ability to get help on assignments?
I appreciate your video
Hi Thu Vu, thank you for sharing this.
My background is in Accounting, Tax and, more recently, Econometrics. I am preparing for an MBA in Business Analytics at MIT in 2024 (Data Science). I follow the Tim Ferris 3 book rule and search for the 1% of top thought leaders books. I have the two books you recommend for Data Visualization but need the 3rd one, " How to create effective charts and diagrams". I have googled, ducked and cannot find this book anywhere, even Microsoft Education. Please help if you can.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Kind regard

since u mentioned apis, some apis even have not working code examples or like youtube they tell you you can make a request without using oauth and use an api key instead but there is no explaination how to do so and no code eample for only api keys or they call the same things by different names (yt explorer here and dashboard there) and sometimes things like the dashboard are linked when mentioned in the docu and sometimes they are not and you have to scroll back up or down... yt api documentary was a pandoras box for me, in the end i found everything i wanted to know on stackoverflow...
Oh yes, you're absolutely right haha! Whenever I come across a complete and well-written API documentation I so deeply feel grateful for the people who wrote it 😂
We need part 2 after one year 🙏
Thank you so much for the video! Was it difficult to maintain high GPA? I consider Masters as an option sometime in the future (which would require a high GPA). Do you think the degree is reputable enough for the employers, did the students struggle to find jobs after the completion of the degree? Thanks in advance!🙏
Great video, thank you for sharing your experience! Are exams done online or at local examination centers?
Very helpful. Is the degree recognized in the USA? Thank you.
Thank you🙏🏻

Hey, thanks for this video. Doing my second year 2nd half. Not so sure which specialism to take haha. I want to do ml and ai but the masters route haha it’s kinda long.
Contemplating, lol I kind of see myself taking ml and ai though.
Oh that's great to hear, Gerry! Are you taking a Masters? Yeah I was kinda choosing a familiar option for specialization (ML & AI) but nearing the end I'm thinking other specializations could be fun as well. So.. tough call! 😅
@@Thuvu5 I see myself going for masters after Bsc.
Started from zero programming experience and nothing relates to my current job haha.
I had two specialisms in mind, web and mobile dev plus ml/ai. I thought the web thing can be achievable through self study, so, ml/ai for me is the thing.
@@geraldkan3483 This is very wise. I really like your approach of choosing what's harder to self-study 🙌🏽. For web dev there are indeed so many good online resources that are even better than in traditional schools.

Hi, thanks for you the video. Very informative! I wanted to know, are the lectures live with a chance to ask the lecturer questions?
Hi Bilal, most lectures have live webinar around midterm and/or end term to deep dive into some topics or to help prepare for exams
Hey,
Thanks for your effort!
Plus ,you will be able to earn more with the degree 😊
Good luck 😊
Yes of course you can! There’s no distinction in the graduate certificate if you did it online or offline
Hi Thu, thanks for the imformative video
Thank you for sharing your experience. What do you think about the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science? Do you think it's worth it if I'm trying to break into the tech industry?
Thank you very much for sharing your experience! It is very useful to many people!
And is it a good idea to study this online program after school (as a first degree)?
Hi thanks a lot. Which 30-hour course did you take on udemy for web development?
It’s this www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-web-developer-zero-to-mastery/learn/lecture/8803506?start=15
An online degree should never cost 11000£. That's insane.
It's not an online degree by itself, that's the thing. It's a degree like any other, you can do it online if you want to.
And of course you can do a masters or PhD after that, but the best thing is that the degree itself is not recognized as an 'online degree' just a regular bachelor's degree from the university of London so employers won't know if you went to study physically there or not and even if they knew you wont have the stigma that comes with having an online degrees (employers tend to think online degrees are worthless compared to a "real" degree)
It's very flexible you can finish it in 3 years while working full time job.
Why is it on the coursera platform and been sold for that price (£17,000)
This just shows there’s a lack of accountability from the university and it should not be open to the public for that price.
Lastly, did you graduate and get a transcript from the university?
If you did kindly do a video showing this. -Thanks
Is that 11k a year?
Please note that's £11000 for all 4 years (Full Degree).

Hey I just wanted to know if this particular degree provides flexibility to be completed in 2 years instead of 3?
Hi, I'm planning to take the same degree. However, I have some doubts. I don't see any calculus, linear algebra, or statistics courses mentioned in the curriculum. I'm not sure how the system in the UK works, but since you’ve taken the degree, can you please tell me what courses are included in maths from this set: {algebra, Trig & Pre-calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Linear algebra, Statistics & probability, geometry}? Please also include anything from the math courses that I missed.
Your response will be really appreciated!
Thank you!
here am I studying maths and physics in a bsc cs degree? wth???
HI, i am thinking of doing this degree and really intrigued by your good review. Since you said you did full time study with 4 modules per semester, how many hours on average you need to spend if doing fulltime across 1st, 2nd and 3rd year? Thanks. :)
Hey, I think it really depends on the modules (some are more demanding and have a lot of assignments) and how familiar you are with coding. For me it took about 10 hours/ week for full time semesters
Do they include an interview when applying to the university?
Will I receive a graduation certificate from the university upon completing my studies, similar to an on-campus student?
It's never to late and it's okay to restart ❤ and I have question to ask do I need to give ielts exam before applying like I'm indian living in italy ...?!..
Agreed!! 🙌 I think they do need some proof of English efficiency. So either ielts or another degree you followed that was fully in English would work
Are there live lectures on calculus? I barely know algebra and geometry. Do you think I can pass the calculus class?
Thank you so much for sharing. im wondering if you need to take proctored exam through coursera when you took the programe? how was the proctorered exam experience?
No the exams are not proctored. You just get a 24h window to finish and submit the exam 😊
