Hey, I love watching you guys and have watched for years. We're up north a bit visiting our daughter in Burlington and often hit Stowe. I have to say the video you shared, the skier in red was too close to the casual skier. I see this a lot these days. Skiers going too fast as they approach others from behind, my wife is in that category. Those very strong, capable skiers need to be more aware of others below them. Thanks for your content.

Appreciate the feedback and you make a great point! I think the angle makes it look worse than it was, but I agree she should've left more room and I'm surprised I didn't notice it when I added that clip in! -Jeff

I think she was aware, which makes it worse. Take a look at both skiers head and where they are looking. The casual skier is looking at the 5 meters in front, where the women in red is looking ahead a fair distance. The moment she gets over the edge of the slope, she sees the casual skier.
A good skier will be aware of others. But no skier, no matter the skill level, can foresee what's happening, and casuals aren't exactly easy to predict. Unexpected movements or crossings might or will happen. That's why the experienced skier needs to be cautious and plan movements accordingly. And that's something not many do and where you're point is getting more than valid and why more wiggle room is important. And there wasn't much room, slowing the footage down and tracking the terrain, you can clearly see that it was pretty close and a high risk line. And that's my point; the awareness needs to translate to more caution.
Stay safe on your slope days!
